Thanks to everyone who has liked, subscribed and left positive feedback! I was only expecting about 30 people to check out the video so I'm over the moon with how it's been received :) I posted a brief explainer on what inspired me to make it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-unL1HDR9fGw.html

The visual of one sphere slowly turning inside another, while streaking through space, as he looks up from the surface...priceless!!!

Yeah, you cut out all the gratuitous sex and car chases and explosions, and you produce a beautiful story. (I'm not anti-sex nor action but they're vastly overused just to fill out 120 minutes to satisfy Dick Dork and the rest of the horny adolescents who purchase 99% of the tickets.)

Thanks for this and well done. I loved the green sphere. It reminded me of the illustrations of the Little Prince's planet and some of the others he visited.

Excellent! I enjoyed that very much. It’s not a stretch to say humanity is going to kill itself off with overpopulation, pollution, and war.
@veramae4098
@veramae4098 2 года назад
Larry Niven, sci fi writer: Climate change with pollution is going to continue until this planet is almost uninhabitable. Then we'll fix it. Fast. In the meantime hundreds of millions will die. The upside? We'll know precisely how to terraform.
@JMDinOKC
@JMDinOKC 2 года назад
No: It's not a stretch to say that at the very least, a remnant of humanity would survive overpopulation, pollution, and war. They would have to start over again, but in fact, evolution works best in small populations. Let's say that 99.9% of the human race died off. That would still leave about NINE MILLION PEOPLE. That's STILL too many for evolution to work, unless they were all scattered over the Earth in small communities (which would be likely). Anatomically modern humans went through the most crucial phase in their evolution when the entire human population numbered only about 5000 families. You have to have small populations so that the gene frequencies of favorable genes can spread throughout the population. So in fact, the best opportunity for human beings to evolve into something better (let's HOPE that's what would happen), would be if 99.9% of all of us died off.

I was wondering why the scenes kept flashing back and forth and then it all made sense. Also, I thought the "past" scene was taking place on Mars at first. Several parts were unexpected. Thank you for stepping outside the usual ark spaceship stereotype. Final conclusion: enjoyed it and would like to see more.

Quite a dilemma for the clone. Too bad the message didn't include a quick history lesson. We've been slaughtering each other and everything that gets in our way for a long, long time. Really great job with a short of less than 6 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great work and a great story. This is proof that you may do great things with small resources. You made a great job with Blender. I have it myself and is still a mystery :) Keep doing more of these stories. They send strong messages with great visuals, and your performance was very moving and well done. Congrats!

WOW!!!! Such a visually poetic and beautiful sci-fi short film! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The scene where we first see the spherical spaceship line up with the sun reminds me of 2001. I especially like how the film starts off with valid reasons for why the human race should go extinct, only to end it on an unexpectedly optimistic note! Well done! 👌🏻 I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber! 🙂

The way I feel already about people, no, they don't deserve a second chance, if it were up to me I would destroy any chance they could have. A clone not having experienced a normal existence would probably give 'em a 2nd chance, to become again territorial and sel-destructive.

Interesting concept. However in my opinion. As has been proved time and time again. Mankind rarely learns from its mistakes. We have had multiple chances over the last 10,000 years or more. And nothing much has ever changed apart from the fact that we have become better at destroying everything. Time for a shift in global thinking. Or mankind will become a distant memory with no tears shed.

Of course humanity deserves another shot at it , and another, and another and so on - because in the end, every generation have done so many things better, and one day it will be great. Ask someone from 1800, when a child should start working at a job. Ask someone from from 1700 why they are burning witches. Ask someone in 1500 if the earth is the centre of the universe. Better and better.

Oh brother, here's another one: One of those sci-fi doom films that profess to take place over long stretches of time, but that actually are very short-sighted and ignorant of history. All these sci-fi films in which the human race has destroyed all life on Earth. That VASTLY overstates the effect of human activity on the global ecosphere. Human activity will NEVER kill off all life. Human activity may eventually make HUMAN survival tenuous, but there is NO WAY that humans will kill off everything. There have been 5 major mass extinctions and innumerable minor mass extinctions, and life has survived. The Earth was completely covered in ice for millions of years ("Snowball Earth"), and life not only survived, but evolved into multicellular life forms. The Permian extinction was the greatest mass extinction of all time: 95% of species were extinguished, BUT NOT 100%. The K-T impact that killed off the great reptiles 65 million years ago wiped out 75% of all life, BUT NOT 100%. And that's only 2 of the 5. And what happens after every major mass extinction? Life not only survives, but eventually thrives; because in the history of life on Earth, every end is a new beginning. The Permian extinction gave rise to the mammals and the great reptiles of the land, sea, and air. The Cretaceous extinction cleared the decks for the mammalian explosion. When it comes to destructive effects on the ecosphere, human beings aren't that important, or even interesting. There is a monotonous human-blinkered sameness to all these human-gloom-and-doom pieces. DUST, for example, is full of them.

I think a cool ending would have been to have the clones hand hovering over a start button on th screen. And then you're left wondering what does he decide? Will he decide to give Humanity a second chance, with all the risks that that entails), or will he decide that it's better to let the destructive, hateful human race expire before it desecrates another pristine planet.
