It was such a pleasure to work on this film and develop an incredible vision with a small but talented team! ❤It's so hard to believe we made this short film with practically ZERO budget and virtual contributors scattered across different states and even countries! Thank you so much to DUST for allowing us to share this beautiful story with you all. We hope you are moved to enjoy this short but vast experience .⭐🚀

Wow. I just arose, sipping coffee, and am in tears already. This was beautiful--and tragic. Tragic for us all as we face our mortality. I'm 74 and slipping toward my own event horizon, trying to grapple with these ideas, and this drove an icicle of inevitability through my fears. Well done, you. You did it--and you did it well.

I'm the same age as you. Just today, I calculated the days left, estimating another 20 years. Seems like a lot, until it isn't. I enjoy my life now, yet feel weighed down by the future that our hubris and greed has laid out before us. I see the natural world shrinking in my own lifetime. I feel sad for yet detached from what I will leave behind, while knowing that I tried my best to contribute rather than destroy. What else can one person do?

Im 34 and already fear being older. I do alot of extreme sports, climbing, skating, jetsking, flying helis (CPL(H)) and I cant even imagine what its going to be like when I cant do half those things. Im onto my 12th bone break and a few organ punctures and I'll be so crippled as I get older. Scares the hell out of me to have to slow down. I already can feel it, can only manage to outperform some of the younger riders and pilots purely on skill, the body isnt what it used to be ten years ago. Imagine another 20 or 30...

For those asking questions in here, I’ve read most of your comments and the whole team appreciate and thanks everyone 👌👍🎬🚀. We will be responding some as well. You should be proud of this fabulous short film. I work in IT. We stand on the edge of an AI revolution. Why shouldn't AI's be thoughtful, scared and have feelings? I cried a lot at the end. It was powerful and the acting was fabulous. What mother wouldn't cry when losing her child? As Dr Chandra said in Arthur C Clarke's 2010, It doesn't matter if that intelligence is carbon based or silicon based. What shines though is that the story does not have to be complicated to be effective, just well thought out.

I didn't get it. 10 minutes of torture. 1st off it was painfully slow. The ai voice work speaks numbers like an automated telemarket assistant yet used highly complex range of language expressing breaths and choosing pauses. A handful of conversations over half a lifetime is not enough to cry over a dead camera. The plot made no sense to me. And the conversations increased in number at the end, when it would have taken longer for the feed to reach. But yet were fewer when it was closer. This also gives a very inaccurate description of the distances between earth and jupiter and earth and even the nearest black hole. Add in the ai, if it was even ai, felt emotion but could not comprehend an analogy? The whole thing was fucking stupid.

So true, Robby. My childhood seemed endless to me. I did not enjoy being a child. I wanted control over my own life from the beginning. I envied adults their powers. Now that I am 78, time just melts away. I have thought a lot about death and its meaning during my life and feel reconciled to my coming end. It's what precedes it that I am worried about. Thank the Goddess for Final Exit.

Wow what a powerful short film, especially as humanity starts it's journey of creation of artificial (virtual?) Intelligence. This story both questions what is consciousness and self-awareness, what is love, what is sacrifice, and it also touches the age old paradox that the more advanced we become and the more we learn, the more we realize we still know so little about ourselves. Thank you for this powerful film.

Later I got to experience an early rough cut to big screen showing at a local film festival and it was as poignant and beautiful as I hoped it would be. It does pay subtle homages to previous sci fi films such as 2001, Blade Runner, Interstellar and even Her. This is a love letter to Science Fiction and space travel and the wonders both have brought us. Hats off to all cast and crew.

But should AI also sometimes require the same tactic to find comprehension then at least I don't need to feel daft because of it. A triumph of a film. No over reliance on CG, rather a great foundational idea & exposition of whats next but also who as in who am i (as the starship AI evolves its programming through the voyage raising concerns when it begins to question if erring is only capable by humans). Like the black hole, humanity thus far has not been able to see what death really is, rather its after effects. One day, like the spacefaring races of sci-fi maybe well be able to at least glimpse a part of what is, if anything, past the event horizon.

Maybe there won't be a trumpet played, but I'll bet there will be some tears when those missions are officially declared over. But they won't really be over even then. They have their golden records on board which should be readable for up to a billion years from now. Who knows what they will encounter? But if somebody finds them in a few hundred million years, they will fulfill their mission by delivering the messages from Earth they carry.

This is awesome! I do really like the story, it’s clear for me how Kiara’s feelings evolved and the bond between the characters. The effects were really well done as well.

One of the best shorts I've yet seen - definitely in a class all by itself. Good work.
