Journey is a video game developed by Thatgamecompany exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and which is distributed on the PlayStation Network. The game features the player as a robed figure in a vast desert, journeying towards a mountain in the distance. Along the way the player can meet other players on the same journey; the two players can assist each other, but cannot communicate via speech or text and are not shown each others' names until after completion. The game was released on March 7, 2012 for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and was fully released on March 13. It has been met with significant critical acclaim. Journey is the last game made under a three game contract between Thatgamecompany and Sony, the first two being Flow and Flower.

Thank you so much for these words Alex. You're immensely kind. My hope is not that I turn emotion into sound, but that instead I create music which is more like a blank canvas on which you can write something of your own. So if you feel something, it's because it was already inside you. I know it sounds sort of cheesy, but the whole idea behind my music is to hopefully make it a celebration of the listener, and not of me the composer.

Thank you for your splendid work. Journey is an amazing work of art - vanishingly rare in video games - from any perspective, but without its soundtrack being what it is I doubt it would have the emotional impact it has. Thank you for having allowed me to feel this. Few people have the ability to turn emotion into sound. You are one of them. I'm looking forward to following your future endeavours. I wish you nothing but great success; you won't need any luck for it considering your talent.

So beautiful. Off this world, so the game. I played it last week with a good friend. we're on his couch. Played this a hundred ps3-flicks, and suddenly, we found this. And we played Journey. This concept of gameplay stoned me. Well, both of us. We were actually stones, so the experience with the sound up high. Jeez, there should be more of such peacefull, relaxing, sophisticated little games. It's diffrent. It's great. Chapeau!! indeed.

I've listened to so many game soundtracks, this one alone invokes more emotion that any other, even without the game going.

I respectfully disagree. I have heard many soundtracks, both Classical compositions and those with a more modern bent. This specific soundtrack exists, emotionally, on a different level than others. That is the appeal and why it's something special. It's not about the "technicality" it's the humanity of the score.

I wondered the same thing actually. Like you said, Flowers soundtrack ain't bad. But, to me, it doesn't hold a candle up to Journey's soundtrack. But, tis just my opinion.

If you get the collectors edition from Amazon, you get all the thatgamecompany games (the company that made Journey), a copy of the soundtrack for all their games, and more. Totally worth it.
