Then after around 10 years quit due to his mother's ill health and his own hip replacement. Did some successful solo work in 1994 and did not perform again until 20 years later in 2014. He has all the cash he needs and the voice to prove it but what does he have to prove? He stands on his own two legendary feet and no amount of public pressure or pleading is going to force him or change his mind. Bravo Steve!.

In the 70's I considered Journey too "pop"...too slick. Now, I realize Perry's voice is the best that ever sang rock. Neil Schon was playing with Santana when he was 16 years old. His guitar playing is awesome. The band together are incredible. I wish I'd heard "Mother, Father" in 1980.

Always have been a die hard journey fan went to all their concerts when I lived in Los Angeles but this song reminds me every time of trying to get home to L.A. before my mom died and I made it by 5 days. She did hold on one more day!

This is the version I'm more familiar with. It continues to leave me speechless. Man, there are days when I miss good old, solid, heart pounding, hip grinding, life affirming, rock more than I can put into words. I'm literally, rap and hip-hoped clean to death here, to the point I get very, emotional now, when I hear anything of this nature. Being a little bit mentally disabled. 15 years old. Was in special ed classe. That was the first i learned in my friends garage band. My dad pssed his drums to me because he could not play druns anymore. Had MS. And it was amazing how I could hit the high notes singing wheel in the sky. My friends did a good job as back up vocals. And it sounded like the radio was on. And today at 51 years old. I can still hit the high notes like perry did. Especailly Karaoke. Im out havinf fun. Like to sing Journey songs. And now being a diabetec. I have to take good cate of myself. I have another friend who is slightly Mentally handicapt like Iam. Sounds like Fred Mercury from Queen. My Question. Is it a gift for people with disabilitues to be good singers and sound like the Artist. And I hear how much I sound like SP. And I enjoy karaoke. Or live bands. And the crowd loves it.
