OMFG, this is REALLY like my last round. Am a ranger and the Leader rolled a 1 for me, what I didn't know. 30 Gnoms, 6 Ogers and 25 Orcs in front of me and the next ingame-memory was me naked on a tree with two naked orc-women over me.... bjuirk

One question that's been bugging me: Perf has a magic sword, he's great with languages, he's cowardly, he's a good runner, and he can't perform even the most basic spells correctly. Is he supposed to be Rincewind? Or are Rincewind and Perf making fun of the same source material?

I love this series so much. It's not only seeing how it gets more and more professional what they do, it's just HOW they do it... it's like entering the story together with those characters when everyone's still kinda derpy and messing around (watched it in one go directly after dorkness rising and was so flashed) and staying with them when it's getting damn serious... almost like growing with them to face a yet unknown future. Not to speak of all those who join in on the way, making life rather harder than easier most of the time. The script is awesome and the actors are just so brilliant, bringing all those characters to life! I SO hope that we can do it and make this third season real... we, the fans and ZOE. ZOE didn't let us down with this show, we don't want to let them down, either, now that they need our support. Share and RenewJQ!

A theory occurs to me, that when Glorion says, "I'm too brave to grant you mercy," he's saying that, "I'm too brave to retreat from you.". This means that he only grants "mercy" to those that he would avoid in combat... or fears. Now imagine Glorion granting someone "mercy" and running away from them.

It's an interesting theory, but I got the impression that it was just a play on how 'brave' people tend to be portrayed in stories. Unless they're the protagonist and all about 'silent' bravery they tend to be brash and impulsive, and often that gets unconsciously written as arrogant or angry. "Grah! Trog not afraid of anything! Grah!"

@Seth Hultkrantz It's a shorter version, slightly edited, just the part where the Bard meets the Orcs. I just love the animation style of the Murder Elementals. It's a good way to get a taste of the series, because the actual start is kinda long and not as joke heavy. The 4 main characters type of comedy is based on their personalities, not being wacky. Also, I think I'll take the cleric and put him into my Curse Of Strahd game, because he might have a good redemption arc Side Quest to give my players, but that's just me thinking out loud.

can someone please recommend more shows like this? I'd recommend the guild, top decking, larps, friday nights, pure pwnage, save the supers, gamergirl, shelf life, game shop(really wish they made more seasons of that)... all great webseries, just curious if anyone knows of any more geek shows, i cant get enough.

Yes, Perf is A LOT like Rincewind...but i love Journeyquest. I saw it years ago and keep coming back. Make sure you check out the other feature films from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. They give 100% every time.

O.k. I understand your point. I'm not saying you don't have one or that it isn't valid. Small slight people should not be able to use bows in battle, yet more and more small slight women are being shown doing just that. It's unrealistic. But again your arguing it in a comments section of a fantasy series, about an elf, the strength of which we will never know,( 'cause not real). The original question you asked was 'why all the down votes?' and I think you just chose the wrong place and audience.

It's not just the lack of realism that gets to me... Hmm. Maybe I should phrase this differently? I'm just bothered with how media has portrayed archery almost as a feminine thing, when in most logical reasons it is not. Usually some of the strongest warriors were given bows since they were very hard to use if their physique was not up to par with the stress produced by the drawing of the bow. It seems more of a throwaway of a concept to something that just seems more elegant when was not.

I meant a small guy as in weak. I said girls because all of the people who I saw as archers were girls, not strong men or women. I said, "I'm sort of doubting THAT girl," not A girl. I'm sure that women could pull back that bow in relation to historical accuracy, but it was not common, especially because of how the patriarchy did not allow women to be part of armies-- or their "place" was not on the battlefield or out hunting. Not my choice, I wasn't alive then, obviously.

Err... I like cinematic accuracy. A small guy's not going to pick up a 200lb hammer and start murdering everyone. He should try to use something more practical. I'm just a little bugged because every fantasy is the same in this situation. Stating remote realism isn't saying, "chicks are too weak to use bows," it's stating that small people are too weak to use bows in general. They're too weak to use bows because it's too much stress on their bodies to handle, simple as that.

Possibly because you are trying to bring historical accuracy into a fantasy setting. It's kind of like "Why do people throw lighting bolts and fireballs? Magic didn't exist! Why are there so many dragons when they are mythical? The level of technology shown by the dwarves is anachronistic for the historical period these stories are set in! etc... Plus, of all the inconsistencies between fantasy and reality you could have chosen, you decided 'chicks are too weak to use bows' was the best one.

Why are most archers I see in games and... well, everything female? Bows in that time had extremely heavy draw weights so the arrows could pierce through light armor (sometimes certain arrows and the higher draw weight bows could pierce plate). I'm sort of doubting that girl could pull back a 120-165lb draw bow. Other, slightly lighter bows would be for hunting and would be mostly ineffective against infantry. I dunno, just being picky.

Hey you guys do great work with these episodes! :) But theres is a mistake in the german subtitles at 3:48 he says: "not an idea" (if i heard it correctly) and it's translated with "Keine gute Idee", which meas "(that's) not a good idea". So instead of "Keine gute Idee" there should be "Ich habe keine Ahnung" or "Ich hab' keine Ahnung". Feel free to contact me for questions relating german stuff :) Keep going like this! :)

In these fantasy worlds, you're almost never going to see a tiny guy/girl picking on a bear or something of that sort without using weapons that he/she can realistically use. Maybe in some anime concepts but this isn't of the same class. Same in most to all cases, but then historical ignorance lets these facts about bows fall through the cracks, because who cares, right?

I hate to be picky, but at the opening of the episode, Wren is holding that atrocity knife with the edge up. However, in the very next cut it is now held edge-down. Just a tiny irregularity the whiny little voice in my head pointed out.

@blackheartedelffairy Save that there are a few spells Perf is able to cast, like Conjure Milk, and Vague, where even they would be out of Rincewind's level of arcane aptitude. But yes, the similarities are otherwise quite striking.

Well if you aren't strictly meaning medieval fantasy, there is a post-apocalyptic series (based on Fallout) called Nuka Break by WaysideCreations which I think is quite good as well.

Highlyh recommend everyone check out World of Wolfram. Its a german web series about a guy who played a video game and two of the characters - and elf maiden and an orc warrior - got out and came to live with him in his apartment.
