Thanks Allan. These were the only type we could get when I was a child. Thank goodness now there are much better paints for kids that are really cheap but give a good experience. Prang is what I got my grandchildren to dabble with. Thanks again Allan. Always enjoy your videos.💜

Thank you too, annette. When I was in college and got no idea yet professional grade paints existed, I though Prang was rhe ultimate. When I had it, it transformed my work. Prang is really a classic I must say. 😊

even the mini painting demo is appropriate for any kids who may be watching this video, and if they would like to follow along as you do your mini painting. i hope you can do a tutorial of other simple mini paintings for kiddos.

I've seen how kids waste watercolour (while having fun), so this palette looks very nice with the mixing wells. Not bad, it wasn't very chalky. This would be something I would give 7 or 8 yr old kids who just like to see the different colour come out of paint palette. :)

True. And the most important things is it's non toxic. 😊

Hello Allan, we have those paints here in Mexico, i was expecting the reaction that you have with them, they have a smell and I only used the for fun, nothing near for professional work.
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Yes you're right. But I didn't notice the smell in my set, though. As kid's paints, the smell could be irritating.

These are about the cheapest watercolors you can find in Spain. They could be compared to Cra-Z-Art, Crayola, and the like.

Hola Sr. Quesada. Cuando se hacen comparativas de gamas de color echo en falta siempre que se comente la línea de TITAN (tanto en acuarela como al aceite, acrílico...) Sería uy interesante conocer su experta opinión. Saludos.

Hi Allan. These are watercolors for children and probably not staining at all in order to be able to be washed out from clothes. So the whatever comparison with other watercolors particularly with the student grade ones is irrelevant. They are not at the same category with the other painting sets. They are made to have completely different properties. Non toxic and washable. A good way to check the quality of such kind of preschool paints is to try to wash them completely out of the paper. That is also the kind of information that interests parents!
@AllanJayQuesada
@AllanJayQuesada Год назад
Yeah, i get it that these should not stain clothes of kids.. but to test how they could be washed out of paper? Why? It would destroy the paper. (Considering kids won't use quality watercolor paper ofc)?
@creativecolours2022
@creativecolours2022 Год назад
@@AllanJayQuesada Preschool paints according to the regulations must not be archival or staining, or lightfast and they must be non toxic. So they are made purposely impermanent. That is the reason why a lot of people that compare these type of paints with the artist grade ones are missing completely the point. The impermanence of the preschools paints has nothing to do with their quality. In fact the best of these paints have all of the characteristics that I mentioned above. A test on how easily one can wash them off the paper, has nothing to do with the paper but more about how washable and lift able these kind of paints are. If they can be washed out of paper, lift very easily, then they can be washed out of clothes as well including table clothes, bed sheets, walls and ... children's mouths! lol Edit to add . This applies to the preschool colour pencils and crayons. There are regulations on how this type of paints should be made and must be used and so the most reputable brands write it with big letters on their products' packaging. So your test with the napkin would have been successful if those paints lifted from the paper. It goes the other way round.

@@creativecolours2022 oh i see got it. the properties should be kept that way for it to stand regulations for kids' use. in effect these paints cant be staining and very pigmented. it's clear. but the point of why i still compare is for those (cause there might be some) who still are confused about the difference between school grade paints, student grade paints and professional grade paints. I still have some school grade paints with me, and if i had not researched enough, i might have been wondering why my paints are doll and chalky, because i had no knowledge that student grades and pro grades existed.
@creativecolours2022
@creativecolours2022 Год назад
@@AllanJayQuesada Certainly but my point is that it would be better to compare the preschool paint sets with those that are at the same grade, not the preschool with the student ones because each different age group has different requirements. And also indicate that you are testing preschool paint sets ( or student or artists' grade) and mention what are the desirable characteristics on each of these grades. Talking about how chalky are the paints as I have mentioned on another comment they are not actually chalky. It is that they have less gum Arabic that is the binder. It is the binder that makes the paint stick on the paper so less binder and less staining pigments make the preschool paints washable. So to conclude: The preschool paints must have all the characteristics that artists hate and the artists' grade paints are dangerous and not suitable for young children.

@Creative Colours Yes, i have indicated that these are for small kids. I have shown it by showing the website of Jovi with preschool kids and how the company has selected quality materials for their production. As far as I know, there are 3 main categories of paints. 1. School grades 2. Student grades and 3. Pro grades. What I've missed to mention is the desired characteristics for this grade. "Chalky" by the definition can mean 2 things; 1. Resembles that of a chalk. 2. Contains chalk. These paints, Jovi, resemles like a chalk in the sense that it doesn't adhere well on paper. It's probably because of a lesser binder. Chalk doesn't adhere permanently on any surface. So they're the same. So Jovi can be described as chalky or like chalk. Whenever we content creators, upload our content, we are all the time asked, which is the target of the video we upload, and in my case, it is not for kids. The way i really understand the paints gears towards responding to intermediate to professional viewers. So this video is pointed at to those; 1. A beginner (not kid) or a professional who happens to encounter paints like Jovi. What should they expect and what they can do next. So, in my recommendation, i said I do not recommend this to beginners (these aren't kids if you know what i mean) and professionals. But to still be fair, i have shown the hints that these paints are for young school kids, even mentioned it should only be for 3+ years and that these paints are non-toxic, in case a parent of a 4yr old watches this video. I think that is the most important thing. What I would remember to say for the same types in the future reviews is that these types of paints are meant to be very light, don't stain,don't adhere well on paper, and chalky.. as how chalk can be very much used at pre-school.
