The strike type Fear 2 assault mecha is more butch looking, and less fiddly than the Fear 1 mecha. He looks awesome, and will be a great addition to any collection.
Lol I just realized why something about this mecha looked so familiar. When my brother was in the army thier vehical had alot of similar look bags along with ruck sacs on the sides packed with equipment .
Just want to say it does have waist articulation as well as ab crunch (could be yours is very stiff). Granted it can't bend backwards due to the cockpit backpack it has. It also has upper body side to side pivot though all the soft goods on it could interfere with that range of motion. I finally finished putting it all together and it looks awesome. Even better than the promotional pics (if one has the patience to actually sit down and work with it). Since I built models in the past, I had the patience to spend hours putting it all together and not rush it. But once it's done, it's just a very nice, well put together figure. Details are great on it. Only thing I don't like are the pistons keep popping off at the ball joint or at a connection point when moving it around. It can stand for the most part but due to toes being loose, can make it a bit unstable as it's pretty top heavy. The lower leg shin armor is a little low on yours. BUT it is extremely difficult to put on (I had to break the bonded glue at a connection point to get the armor to open and flex enough to slot into place). If you look carefully at the lower leg shin armor, you'll notice pegs and slots that match up to the slits and holes on the mech's leg that it should fit right into. And it fits snug too (so snug in place I can't remove them now). Again, very difficult to line up and put on and you do need to break a bit of the glue holding the lower leg shin armor together to give enough flex to fit in. The upper thigh armor, there are pegs on it. I forgot which peg it uses to help alignment of the armor to the leg (there's a hole on the leg it pegs into). Once it's seated in properly, you get the idea of where it should sit and fiddle with the buckles and straps to secure it. I crossed the buckles to hold it more in place and passed it through under the pistons and not around the actual leg. Most of my strands are done like this (not going around but under pistons). But again this requires a bit of work and patience to get done. Only drawback of doing this is it may limit its articulation due to it sitting directly over the moveable joint. Also the three soft triangular parts that make up the shoulder piece were not placed properly when out of the box. You need to readjust the positioning and use the thin strand with velcro on each end. The small velcro piece at the end of the strand attaches to the velcro piece located at bottom of the shoulder armor and the longer velcro section of the strand attaches to one of the triangular pieces. The triangular piece that attaches to the velcro base of the shoulder is not supposed to be centered. It needs to be offset to match the alignment to the shoulder armor. Once all of it is connected together it will hold in place, look much better and similar to the promo pics. The second strand that comes with it can be laced under the side strands of the upper thigh armor. You just loop the strand (small piece attaching to the end of the long piece) and have the long velcro exposed. Then attach the second long pouch (like the one that sits on the lower shoulder) to it. The pouch that goes over the shoulder could also be attached to the velcro piece at the bottom of the shoulder armor. This will hold the section in place and not have it flop all over. I also redid all the soft goods and tightened up the waist section so it's not as floppy looking. Overall, the only issue with this mech is unless you're willing to put the hours and work into it, you will end up with a floppy mess (with loose armor, strands hanging all over the place) of a mech that doesn't necessarily reflect the promo pics. And of course, that can lead to some disappointments. What also helped me in assembling all the pieces properly were referencing the promo pics itself. If you really want it to look good as the promo pics, I advise stripping all the soft goods off it. Apply the armor, then put on the soft goods back on. Also expect to spend long hours doing it too. But in the end, it'll hopefully bring a huge smile on your face (at least it did for me LOL). Definitely not for a novice and more for a collector that is willing to put the effort and time into it. All the soft goods are removeable and allows you to customize it more to your liking. You don't need to put everything on it if you don't feel like it. Great figure and I can't stop fooling around with it. LOL
@@AwesomeActionToys yeah cheers! Now I know what to expect. Shame about the waist. I was not a fan of the soft goods padding, but seeing it like that it actually looks good. I like how bulky it looks too, plus that skelly-like face!
That's great I can't wait . The fear mecha on my shelf I just took out the control stick so I could fit one of the calvery figures in it , the company commander is the only one I have issues with cause of his leg armor.
Great Review! Hands down the Fear 2.0 looks more imposing and badass with all it's details and size. However I decided not to order it as I find the head / face paint looking a bit off (like IronMan & Punisher) and too much soft goods / cumbersome on certain parts making it a bit more organic looking than Fear 1.0 which I thought was well balanced.
@@AwesomeActionToys I just got my copy. I removed all the soft goods on it and strapped on all the armor. It took me a few hours to put on just the armor alone. Only because I hated how all the strands were just hanging loose and all over the place. I reworked all the stands with the buckles and now all the loose strands are concealed and hidden giving it a much more cleaner look.
This mech looks great! Too bad the cockpit is the same as the previous one as I was hoping it would be bigger b/c I wanted to try and fit 5" figures into it.
Thanks for the review. I have only one worry with these. Are any of the fabric pieces leather-like? I have pleather materials that flake in a couple of years.
@@AwesomeActionToys thanks for your help. I’m really considering some of joy toy figures and mechas. 1/18 is not my usual thing, but they seem amazing.
It's designed for both straight and bent leg stability. The real issue is that the toe and able l ankle articulation can be a little loose for its body weight
@@AwesomeActionToys Thank you . thats good to know . Are the parts from the 1:24 scale mechs interchangable ? I like the hand articulation better on the steel bone mechs .
Good video. In future videos I would love to see the mechs next to a ruler for real scale. Especially considering their sizes vary between 1:18 through 1:27 I believe. Where did your purchase this figure from?
Very, very nice! Has anyone seen the custom JoyToy figure seller on ebay? What's your opinion? Never thought customs would be as cool as the toys they are already making. Great review - gonna get 2!!!🙏😃
@@AwesomeActionToys I agree. Wish I was rich - then it wouldn't be so hard to choose between all JoyToy's new product and customs like those! You do great work too - your vids are out before anyone else and your opinions are spot on - can't wait to see what's next! Peace and respect!
Thanks for the review, I'm still on the fence with this one, living in canada and dealing with exchange and shipping puts this over $200. I've seen some pics online with light up eyes, does this ones eyes not light up?
I'm also Canadian and having the same issues. Look cool but over $200 and around $50 for the mech pilot (with exchange rate) means these won't likely be part of my collection. Really hate the price points of these things. The wealthy get the toys nowadays.
@@AwesomeActionToys Have you seen the JOYTOY 1/18 Action Figures Hurricane Dual Mode Mecha and Motorcycles? They are like Transformers They would look great next the Acid Rain Capibara.
@@AwesomeActionToys surethings toys, Entertainment earth, Bigbadtoystore, Thingfromanotherworld. Thingsfromanotherworld has the lowest price and no tax. Was $130 for me after shipping
