Joy Williams is a singer-songwriter from Santa Cruz, CA who now lovingly calls Nashville, TN home.
Formerly of four-time Grammy Award-winning Folk, Country and Americana duo The Civil Wars, Joy has toured with Adele and The Lumineers and collaborated with Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Paramore, St. Vincent, Matt Berninger of The National, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Rick Rubin, Emmylou Harris, T Bone Burnett, Cameron Crowe, The Chieftains and Birdtalker.
Joy recently recorded her forthcoming solo album, Front Porch, produced by Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids. Following the recent birth of her second child, Joy is slowly and steadily bringing the front porch to cities around the US and Canada in advance of the album’s imminent release in 2019.

As a vocalist, too often I find myself analyzing other vocal performances critically rather than just enjoying them. This video shows her natural, beautiful voice with very little accompaniment. All I can do is just sit back and enjoy her amazing, God-given gift.

That was very humbling the way it ended. I expected a loud standing ovation but I don't know how the atmosphere is with Folk music. I'm a street kid just getting into this genre. I love it though

I have already vowed if and when she does another live concert i will buy the tickets no matter the cost and i will make the drive no matter how far to get one chance to see such an amazing artist perform. Have loved her work (along with John Paul Whites) even during the Civil Wars 9 years ago. Ive already missed my opportunity to see another one of my favorite artist who has passed.

I have her album and have listened to it backwards and forwards...there is always a sense of a lost and then found love in many of the songs. I completely relate to this. Beautiful. I hope he does come back Joy. ❤️

I heard this earlier today on the radio, and tried my best to remember the artist name and title so I could check it out at home. Goodness me! It's the woman from The Civil Wars, who made some of the best music ever, and I am so pleased to see she is still making great music!

Do you think, I don't know what to think about them, I just wonder if JPW is just allowing Joy to fly on her own, because he see's she's quite ok flying solo, so to speak ! And he might feel like they need some personal growth! But I personally don't think they will ever sing together again!😂The hardest part is not knowing how they feel!

There were other versions of her Front Porch songs posted, that are no longer available. I don't know where they were made, but Joy was wearing a polka dot dress and it looked like she was in a downtown, two story building. Those versions are so stunning. I wish they were still available.
