This role was meant for Joy! She is strength and beauty, her extensions are 180 degrees! The perfect role for Joy, and the perfect partner who allows her to soar. So glad she's dancing again. She is totally professional and artistically mature. In her solo, she is delicate and flowing, her arms are beautifully presented. I've never seen her so secure, nor so joyous. Since this was a competition, who won? How did she do?
Joy, I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I have had an absolutely terrible couple of weeks- and just watching your passion and spirit sing through your dancing, you have brought warmth to my heart. Thank you for sharing your gifts and passions, I'm sincerely grateful for you and the happiness that watching your dancing has given me today.
So beautiful and strong. Your quality of moving is really unique. You prove everyone, that you diserve to be one of the best dancers in your generation!!!
Joy obviously made a huge progress in recent years. Her style now is aesthetically very pleasing, confident, and even mesmerizing- I watched this piece several times. Congratulations on hard work producing excellent results, Joy! Mikhail also impressed me greatly. Thanks for sharing, Joy!
JOY!!!!! That was absolutely delicious!!! Perfection!!! You truly embody the Russian style!!! Wow!!! What a thrill! Thank you!! Your partner complements you beautifully!!!
Joy, you were wonderful!!! Your legs seems so light and you energy is wonderful!! You are effortless and joyful!! Perfect for Diana!! Hard work always pay off!
Queen diva! Prima. This is more than beautiful; it is powerfully goddess like. You truly emobidied Diana's character. You ARE Diana. If opera had Maria Callas who revolutionized bel canto singing, you, my dear, challenged strength and beauty in ballet to a higher standard. So much control, passion, grace, dynamics, drama and superb technique. You should be called Queen Joy. Seriously I have watched this video 4 times already. Haha. Brava
And gosh. Misha is so strong and powerful. His moves are so clean that I see figures on a Grecian urn each time he does his poses. Love your dynamics together. You both danced as if you already knew you won!
So lovely to see you. You dance so beautifully and even better than a year. I'm not certain how. Thankyou for this video. I miss you. Sending you love from Scotland. Sass xxx
Woah!! Everytime you dance this piece, it is more amazing than previous times. And lovely to see you dance with Micha again. His dancing complements you so well! Very beautiful. The fouettes..woah. So fast!! I thought you would lift off any second!
Joy I miss your studio footage. I keep checking back to see your studio work/vlog. It is inspirational to see the barre work, choreography, rehearsals, etc. Will you be vlogging from inside the Universal Ballet? Come back, we miss you.
Beautiful work, thankyou for sharing this performance! It's easy to see your hard work and cross training paying off with such power, strength and exuberance in your dancing. It sometimes seems that the stage is not big enough to contain you! You are a modern woman and it is fascinating to follow your story. I know you've had some experiences that feel maybe like setbacks but this shows you are really in a good place and doing what you need to do. Looking forward to the next installment ;-D
OMG.....I have missed you so much......it has been quite a while since I have seen your blog (and as you know I used to never miss a single one, including the performances of you when the Kremlin showed you on their site).I have to say even to an untrained eye such as mind I can see improvement in your dance. As always Beautiful. But scanning down real quick I see much has happened and I will watch ever single blog I have missed to get caught up. I am so happy the first was of your dance.
She has a good technicall skills. But she doesn't dissolve in a dance. I always see a dancer and a dance. When I look at really great ballerinas I see a dance only.
I do agree.... she is technically superb. But everything always looks very well controlled and carefully executed. I love it when a ballerina appears to just feel the music and throw herself into it with passion. (perhaps this is harder to do in competition, and easier in a stage performance)
Joy you are beautiful inside and out, late here in Florida now, but just want to say would love to see you articulate with your right arm with opening your right shoulder and elbow, know what I'm saying? your right arm is closing in and pulling you in a bit, just would be perfection to see you dance with your elbows articulating more, sometimes i see it and sometimes its lost on foot work but arms are just as important, of course, you are wonderful and so lovely and a great inspiration, then it may just be this choreography.... your arms are wonderful in other pieces so i donno, bed time here ttyl ...
Ах ножки, ножки, ножки балерин! Без вас не мог прожить я день один. Ах если б, если б, если б только мог, Я жизнь бы всю провел у этих ног, у этих ног!
Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the different ranks in ballet, I was actually wondering if Joy is young to be a principal? I believe she is 24 which seems young as principals that I have seen in other ballet videos seemed to be a lot older. Like late 20's to 30's.
Sophie Anjuli Joy trained in Russia as did Precious Adams. This usually puts the dancers ahead of the game by 3-5 years! Plus, the dancerd are able to work at more regional or less known companies to increase their experience. For example Michaela dePrince landed a spot at Dutch National Junior company after appearing in South Africa.
Max - Думаю девченка ищет себя . Экспериментирует. Учится, сравнивает. Мне интересно сравнивать ее с другими американцами в российском балете, c Julian Mackey из Михайловского театра, с Masha Bec из театра Станиславского.
