Mezzosoprano Joyce DiDonato singing "Brilla nell'alma" from Händel's opera Alessandro, accompanied by Il Pomo d'Oro. This was part of German TV programme ZDF's broadcast "The Venice of Donna Leon" May 2013.
I've never seen Joyce DiDonato before..her voice is exquisite and she literally 'soaks' up every emotion..she sees the scene of the song and puts absolute joy and skill into the entire thing..such control too..Oh my Lord!!..wonderful to watch!! Bellisimo!!...
Absolutely stunning. She is such a fresh breath of air with her beautiful voice, perfect technique and bubbly personality. Just love 💘 ❤ this woman to bits.
She really is at the top of her game here. The style won't necessarily be to everyone's taste (decidedly not "early music"), but this is a masterclass in making this particular style work well for Handel. 3.00-3.10 is sublime.
It is marvelous❗️BRAVO❗️❗️❗️There’s life before and after Handel’s music and those two are completely different stories...for me at least. The life after is the one I’m so much blessed with🕺
wow this was sublime, like really a piece of heaven. Dont love her timbre at times, but she is full of live here and that clear and gorgeous tone.. Thanks for sharing, Handel never gets old
Best soprano I have ever heard, beats the young Callas, Sutherland, Price, Fleming, Ponselle, Sills, and all the Der Rosencavalier coloraturas. Simply the best.
Brilla nell’Alma Un non inteso ancor dolce contento E d’alta gioia il Cor, soave inonda. Sì nella Calma Azzurro brilla il Mar se splende il Sole, E i Rai fan tremolar tranquilla l’Onda
