One of the few truly great singers of our era. It’s hard to believe how the art of singing has declined over the past few decades, however an artist such as Joyce proves that genuine talent is still there, however rare.
Just unreached and so full of emotions! Also very interesting to watch how she works with a masterclass student with the same aria in Carnegie Hall....
This happened right in the middle of Covid! this is breathtaking. Especially the turnaround back to the A section. 18 seconds all on one breath, through multiple emotions.... I'm in awe.
This gave me goosebumps, and I usually listen to heavy metal and electronic music. So glad I watched the Hannibal series, it features many great examples of classical music, that I otherwise wouldn't have discovered on my own due to my taste and its stability, if not rigidity. Maybe my taste have changed and just haven't noticed 😄

I adore her recorded piangerò but she sounds fantastic to me here. A recorded version will always be a bit more polished but personally this moved me deeply.

The cantabile parts are beautifully executed, I actually enjoyed the little variations. The recitativo, however, is an utter disaster. I think there is a point where Joyce loses to childish overacting, it is really a pity.
