I think you should do as many demos as you want. You are not lying to us (subscribers) by telling that this is the best amp in the world, you are just doing the review and show us the amp, so why not? I with at some point of time Marshall/Fender and other 'giants' will send you amps for the review
Hi Elmo. I really enjoyed the video & I think it's a good idea to let people make up their own minds on some equipment rather than blindly following whatever a review says. It shows that you are being completely open & honest & leave the conclusions to the viewer. I think mixing it up with the odd one of these every now & then will really keep your channel fresh. By the way your playing is terrific!
I like demos , it helps me decide what I might like to have and especially in pedals . Often demos are misleading since the clean sound of the amp is often as good as a pedal and sometimes you can think it IS the pedal only to find he hasn't turned it on yet lol . Obviously I need better amps . At this point there is one fellow I know from youtube videos that could sell anything but his videos aren't exactly fair examples of the ability of the pedal except in combination with a great amp . buyer beware . but I appreciate your demos and playing abilities and demeanor .
I have the 1st gen Meteor. On its own it's muddy and fuzzy. Hitting it with an EHX East River Drive tightens the bottom end and adds some needed midrange. They pair up beautifully. It gives me a good approximation of an early Sabbath tone. Glad you're not starving. Do what works for you brother. Cheers!
I have the same one, yeah not great on its own. Fine as a headphone amp, but running it into a cab shows its weaknesses VERY quickly. I still recommend these as practice amps for people on a serious budget or who just need something to play with headphones that isn't garbage. Built pretty solid too.
I really do like that little amp ! Especially because you have been thorough to go through most of its various settings. Definitely exceptional value for money!
I respect you not wanting to lose any integrity. I think one thing you can do is put a few tones out there and say "This is where this amp sounds best in my opinion" and I wouldn't believe that would question your integrity or make it a "review" so to speak.
Get your subscribers to put a thumbs up on your videos Also say you’ll do a product review but must be allowed to express your own opinions. Its what most reviewers do
Keep the demos coming Elmo! 1. You gotta eat and your fans and subscribers don't want to see you get all emaciated. 2. I really love your reviews but your demos rock too. I like that your using a custom strat with humbucker, single, stacked humbucker. It offers a very wide range of tones through what you're demoing. Gives a person a pretty good idea of what you're playing through might sound like for them depending on what they have for a guitar. 3. No matter what it's always fun watching you play. I do have one suggestion, like with these Joyo amp heads I would like to hear what they would sound like with the Holy Trinity i.e. an overdrive, a reverb pedal, and a delay. I think that might give your audience a little more of a view of whatever you're playing through might sound for them. Just my opinion.
I use my meteor way more than my jvm, fender or vox. It is just a great sounding little thing, its economical and quiet enough to play at home, light and good enough to play most small gigs. Put a compressor in front and an EQ at the loop and you're gold.
I'd like it if you could do some live streams with superchat enabled, weekly gear wrapup or whatever you think would be good. Gives the channel a more interactive flavor.
It's got that muddy fizz on the dirt channel, so it definitely sounds like an Orange. Thing is though, there's the micro terror amps from Orange in a similar form factor and price bracket. If it was mimicking a boutique amp or something then the price would be excellent. But if you want an Orange, you can get one for a similar price. So maybe Joyo's other offerings are more interesting?
maybe you should imagine this is the only amp you have, and tell your viewers how you like to set it up, and which sounds you use, to create useful dynamics and sound. also carry on with the features. you make the amp sound great anyway. I don't think your selling , just being enthusiastic about what you have. good video anyway , this amp sounds good to me, cheers
I use a Joyo Argos Drive in front of mine to get some pretty gnarly modern metal tones. I also have a Meteor II which I noise gate and then boost the high gain channel with the gain nearly all the way up with a TC Electronic Eyemaster, with the gain on the pedal at zero and the volume all the way up. I use an ABY pedal to run both rigs at once into separate 1x12 cabs.
Elmo, a question, is the dirty channel really that much louder or is it another case of the manufacturer putting 2/3 of the volume in the first half of the knob? These demos are ok, but you need not be so strict in giving no opinion at all. Feel free to point out this and that...
I bought this because of your demo and must say I’m not disappointed; the clean channel needs a little tweaking (don’t like clean tones that much anyhoo), I use a tubescreamer for that but that od channel is great at saturated tones, especially with some good air moving speakers! Am thinking of building my own 2x10” cabinet to hook up to the meteor, probably filled with some ev’s…
Thanks for your entertaining reviews. Sorry - I don't have spare money. Years ago I went to college. I took no music classes. There were other kids who studied music. I asked who they would work for. They became music teachers. Years later schools cut programs in the arts. I thought about those kids. I think they ended up doing something else. Good Luck. You are a smart guy and you will make lemonade from this lemon. Joyo will make money selling those amps.
ELMO! FOR SHAME! MAKING REVIEW VIDEOS SO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY CAN EAT! What is the world coming to?!?! Hahahaha bro just keep it up, your doing good! I BELIEVE IN YOU MR. K!!!! Hahaha
I rather like your opinions. Maybe put a clause in your contract that allows you to give your honest opinions either keep up the great work I look forward to your content very much, you are one of my favorite personalities
Hello Elmo my man , I love your honesty opinion. so I want to see you review the Hotone Britwind nano legacy , many people said its good pedal amp but why its not popular I wanna know how you think about it ❤ thank you.
Hi Elmo, I've been watching your content for a while and love it, have you had any experience with the Harley Benton sc-450, sc-450plus, and the sc-500?
I would be more interested in amps comparisons with teardowns and a few schematics, I don't really care of the fancier looks and/or the ergonomics knobs...
These are some of the best little amps ever made. Not for beginners, though, you need to understand what the amp is emulating ,and how to use it to its strengths. Great if you need that particular "sound" but don't like modeling amps.
@@justmehere6094 there is a difference between a tube/solidstate/hybrid amp that's maybe voiced to sound like a particularly styled amp, and an actual digital modeling amp designed to emulate other amplifiers. For instance, I own a Fender GTX100, that's purely digitally produced, similar amps would be Marshall Codes, Yamaha THRs, and the like. The Joyos can be used as a base for modeling if you desire, but technically, they're their own thing, I own the Jackman II. The Joyos still produce their own, unique sound, calling them strictly a modeling amp is no different then calling modern takes on old amplifiers modeling amps because they aren't the original thing but try to sound like it.
@@archiiebarrett I disagree, and you contradict yourself. THere is no practical, or effective difference between a SS, hybrid or DSP based Modelling amp. ALL of their goals is to model, the sound, tone, hopefully response and feel of an existing legacy amp. The only effective difference between these Joyos and that Fender GTX, is that the Joy MODELS the sound of just one amp, and the GTX MODELS many amps. You yourself said, person needs to know, and I paraphrase, the real amp the Joyo models, and to use the real amp, in order to get the best out of the Joyo. Just because the Joyo is a Hybrid to some degree (without a schematic, not sure how that 12AX7 is used in the preamp, I'd assume a gain stage of some kind, but don't know), doesn't mean it isn't a modeler. Wheter the amp models on or many amops, does this with all SS components, hybrid of SS and tube, like this Joyo, or a DSP in place of those many SS components, they are all modellers, ie. modelling the sound, tone, hopefully reaction and feel of an existing, legacy tube amp. They may not all be DIGITAL Modellers, like my Ace FX, HX Stomp, or even Catlayst. But they are modellers. Modelling doesn't HAVE to use a DSP to model the circuit, it can use SS components, and even SS mixed with tubes. It's the end result and GOAL that matters and determines modeller, or not. The one argument you had, that I will agree with to an extent is "The Joyos still produce their own, unique sound, calling them strictly a modeling amp is no different then calling modern takes on old amplifiers modeling amps because they aren't the original thing but try to sound like it.". If the Joys truly are their own unique tone/sound each, then they are simply Hybrid Amps. But, both Fractal and Line 6 in their Helix line, have unique amp model, not designed to mimic any other amp, but be their own thing. Do they cease to be modellers? For that Matter every Amp voice in a Kataana, a Line 6 Catalyst, Blackstars similar amps, are not exact copies of any amp, but their own unique thing. What Aare they then? I'll agree they could be called Digital Amps. Frankly, there really isn't THAT much difference in the tonal variety of all guitar amps. I will go as fa as to say a complete tube circuit amp would be called a clone.,
Having seen quite a few demos on these particular amps I'm not so interested in what you really think but just exactly how useful/ loud it may be outside of a home practice scenario. Otherwise,do as you wish
it is loud enough that I rehearse and play live with the meteor XL at any small venues not even pushing the amp past 8. Clean channel volume is low, but that is expected as that is what low wattage means, how much headroom it has, not a lot. Drive channel can get too loud for any rehearsal room.
@@alexcampos7953 thankyou, even early reviews hedged around the actual volume available. I understand situations will vary but a glowing review means very little if it's biased and paid for. Be good
Hello Elmo, I have been watching your channel for years and a few days ago saw you review the budget Ibanez Strat Copies like the AZES31 and the AZES42, ...do you think that the Sire Larry Carlton Strats are better, please give me a thumbs up if you do, cheers. Mike. PS - I would be happy to help you out monthly but I don't have Patreon, I don't have Twitter, I don't have Facebook or Meta and I have never used Pay Pal, so sue me I'm 56, I hate technology, I go straight into the amp, plus a TS808. Cheers.
Oh, how I really wish we could get the usual unvarnished Elmo opinion. Unlike some other commenters, I didn't like the tone of this amp. Elmo, you can make anything sound passable and good, So when I don't like something when you play it, It's a hard pass. That low end, unaided by pedals, on the gain channel was an unfettered mess imho.
HIHO ELMO we all know by now that you are an honest guy let them send you stuff its their risk when they send shit gear........ Glad you're not starving
The gain channel sounds very ... orangy 🟠, dark, ballsy, a little fuzzy, i like it, the clean is perhaps too clean as it almost doesn't break up with full gain, seems like a nice option if you want to get to know the orange sound.
These are painful to listen to. I wish they sounded as good as the Rew g20(pretend those two letters are not glued together, broken key). The Rew is too much expense. I possess a wonderful tube amp, it is just so damn (a word that means much weight that I cannot spell with broken key). Looking for a light weight rig with direct out with cab IR for front of house.
Do as many demos has you like. Your core subscribers will stay with you. Your demos are educational and fun to watch for me. I consider it as a win-win.
