Hi JP, I've been following your vlogs for a couple of years now, and the Internet is an odd relationship between viewer and vloger, and I'm sure most of your readers feel the the same as I do and see you as a distant friend. Most of us don't realise the hard work that goes into the making of them, will still keep subscribed, and will welcome any content when you can manage, all the best John
Myself and my autistic young son love your channel, as soon as he sees the notification he will phone me up and tell me and that we must watch it when I get in from work. You really do make a difference in his life, he is like a Wikipedia on Fuerteventura as we visit twice a year. Keep up the good work, it really is appreciate 👍
Just arrived this morning from UK and this place continues to mesmerise. In heaven. Your videos bring relief to us Brits in the ice cold grey rain lasting 10 months of the year.
@@JPinFuerteventura this is your hobby and you can do as little as you fancy. Perhaps, reduce the videos to every fortnight or monthly. You should put yourself first and ensure this is good for you as well. Loving the videos. Take it easy.
You relax with ur lovely wife and just put up content when u feel YOU want to make it a hobby again ,it definitely should not feel like a chore ,take it ham and cheesy and enjoy beautiful fuerteventura
Totally understand here JP. I will miss your Friday uploads. Don't put yourself under pressure, you retired to fuerteventura to enjoy it, so do that first.
Wow John, a hefty but honest update! I admire you since the beginning of the channel for putting in all the effort that you do. You kept me updated on my beloved Island every week and, as a subscriber, I automatically was informed on new updates. Please continue but please do so in your own pace! The life and happiness of Sue, You and the boys is far more important than serving your subscribers every Friday like you were our employee....
There’s no pressure on you doing the videos every week JP but I must say that I look forward to seeing them as during this pandemic it’s one ray of sunshine In a very cloudy world
Although I wait every week for your lovely videos, I can understand how you feel. I would like to thank you for all the hard work you have put into your videos. It is always nice to get some news from the island. But I can understand when you feel a little disappointed with the return. You should only make the videos, when you again enjoy making them. In the meantime, there are many videos to watch again. We should just go back to the first ones and then work our way through your work. All the best to you and the family.
Hi JP. I've been taking your videos for granted past few months. They give us such a lift & remind us how much we enjoy co.ing to Fuerteventura. Please don't let it become too much for you. Relax & enjoy the weather & the ambience. You post whenever it suits you. 👍
Thank John for this video. Fully understand your point. But....let me tell you now that they are priceless in helping peoples state of mind amidst this clown planet especially over last eighteen months. But you can't help everyone. Self preservation comes first and after all you are supposed to be retired. Enjoy it with your lady. I'll still hopefully get you a drink soon Regards Mark.
Thanks for all of your content so far. Looking forward to more videos as and when you put them up. Just do what suits you and keep on enjoying your life abroad . Cheers JP 🍻
Fully understand JP, but remember as you say while it might be difficult to keep coming up with new material you have a core group of followers you call the community and we all really appreciate the videos and the work involved. Do them at your leisure going forward, they don’t alway have to be on new topics, it’s just a catch up for you and the community, like a bunch of friends. Your videos have kept a smile on a lot of people’s faces during these challengingly times, fair play mate👍 And when these times are over we should all be happy to stay in touch and enjoy the good times as your dedicated community.
Oh my god, please don’t quit. I need my occasional Cotillo fix! With emphasis on occasional ;) I say ditch the schedule and do as it comes. But just don’t quit. :)
Love your videos JP and it would be a great sadness if you stopped filming, but you must do what makes you happy. Its been a total joy to watch you Fuerta videos.Thank you so much for your dedication.
Hi John, it is good you were able to open up about the pressure you put yourself under making videos every week and to a Friday deadline. You said you have made over 300 videos which is an amazing achievement which you should be proud. The last time I was in Fuerteventura was September 2018, I miss the place very much and your videos provide that connection to island life that I missed these 2 1/2 years. If you could do at least one video a month that would be so worthwhile to all of us watching. You are a great chap, you tell it how it is, and your knowledge regarding history, places to visit and generally keeping us updated about what life is like on the island right now. Take some time out and enjoy me time with Sue. Thanks for sharing your time with us.
Hi, we enjoy your videos and really appreciate your efforts in producing them. You are a popular man….and looks like the flies agree😁 Your videos carried us through scottish lockdown , reminding us of happy times in Corralejo. Of course we miss coming but have booked to come over at end September which hopefully will happen…double jabbed Oldies! Keep doing the videos but only when you are happy to do so. Say woof to boys and definitely some coffees on us if we bump into you in Corrallejo.
Chin up JP I think most of us are feeling the way you are at the moment so don't think it's just you. I hope you realise your videos have kept us all upbeat throughout this awful period in our lives especially the last miserable winter , keep them coming JP 👍👍👍👍
Thanks JP.You are right you shouldn't be putting yourself under pressure to post.I always appreciate the videos especially in these difficult times when they really help me keep contact with the place. I hope you can continue but in your own good time.
Thanks for that honest insight JP. Haven't watched a video from you for a few weeks....guess being away from the island and the possibility of not being able to travel in November hurts. Today in the West of Ireland it is in the 20s, clear blue skies and already looks like another scorching week to come. Stay safe and well and hopefully the muse will come back. Hopefully be able to stand you a coffee later in the year
Hi John. Your vids are highly estimated. Very authentic and lovely. Thank you so much. In the last months I had to show and translate them step by step to my spanish father in law and the whole family. We‘re located in Germany but very often in Fuerte. Keep going on whenever you feel like. Bye, Udo
Please don’t give up John😊 along with many of your other followers it’s great to see what’s happening on the Island. Looking forward to the next video when you can John. Take it easy Amigo 😎
You have a real talent for it jp, but obviously the enjoyment has gone out of it. Take a break from it and come back when the appetite returns. Your videos are always lovely to watch and informative.
I personally look forward to your vlogs JP, maybe having a little break is a good idea, whilst it’s quieter over there. I think you do a fantastic job.
Don’t stop. Enjoy it as the urge takes you. But maybe set yourself an easy goal for the channel. It’s great for mind and wellbeing to have a focus. As a community maybe we should help more rather then sitting back enjoying the entertainment you provide, suggesting topics, coffee funds etc. Your openness and honesty is great.
Hi JP, Goes without saying that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos, and particularly how they’ve given me a lift during the cold winter months here in the UK. Also, encouragement to do as you have and retire there. However, I agree with everyone else that you should take things at your own pace and no pressure. Happy to chip in towards new camera if there’s a way of doing this, although I do understand that’s not what you’re asking for. Take it easy 👍
John I would just like to thank you so much for everything you have shown my partner and I over the last 3 years. We ended up there by accident in 2019 and weren’t expecting much from the holiday to be fair, but after research, mainly through your videos to be fair, we were looking forward to going out there. We got there and within 24 hours fell in love with Corralejo, to the point where we have been looking to buy a place out there for over a year. I’m a grumpy old bugger just like you, so haven’t “liked” many of your videos, but believe me I have. I have however made the odd comment on the ones that didn’t hit the mark (in my opinion) and being a grumpy bugger like you I commented. I’m honoured to have got a “fuck off then” reply to one of them ( which made me giggle) We are back out (hopefully) early September to look for somewhere to buy. All in all your videos will be a miss and thanks for everything you have done, and you have helped us decide this is the place for us Michael
Enjoying your videos mate, my daughter and grand kids live in caleta so I was a regular visitor before covid now it's just WhatsApp video calls to family and watching videos like yours that bring a bit of sunshine to my day! Well done and keep it up
Makes a mountain of logical sense and like you have so rightly concluded JP, it permits you to revert back to doing the videos as an enjoyable hobby as opposed to feeling you must do them as an obligation. Whether you chose to do one a week or one a month is irrelevant as they will still be watched with the same love, enjoyment and appreciation. Peace and Love to you and your's Sir.
Hi, I never comment but I feel I have to now, I'm one of those that started watching all your videos since I subscribed... I'm from Argentina, I'm bilingual and I'm seriously considering moving to Canary Islands, Las Canarias, so your channel is helpful to me! Don't worry, post whenever you feel like it
It could be a good move Abby. At least your Spanish should seem normal as the Spanish spoken here is closer to south American than mainland Spain I believe. Thanks for watching.
Sounds like a great plan, John. You need to enjoy it and not feel like work. I would miss your videos mate. I'd rather see you cut back than stop altogether. All the best, Steve 👍🍻
Thank you Steve. I have been watching YT and your videos on my big tv lately so can't comment. That was a strange crash you had on a relatively easy bit of track last week when you consider some of the nutty routes you do and don't crash.
@@JPinFuerteventura Thanks John. It's always the way haha I came round the corner and a woman was walking on track, it took my eyes away from trail long enough to run a bit wide and unluckily for me there was a big hole. Hope all's well mate 👍🍻
Seems like all you followers are behind you. Retire. Make and post videos as a hobby, when you feel inspired. No need for feature length films weekly🎥Short news items, observations, anything Fue, any time. We will watch and enjoy whenever you post. You do a great job for Fue tourism. We all appreciate what you do. See you soon
I have loved your vlogs, but I can see where you are coming from. This last 18 months have'nt been easy for any of us, and for you to keep finding things to film when nothing is going on must have been hard. Today I loved the closing shot of Jenson, our 5 month old (Jenson look alike) puppy was nipping my feet as I watched! Look forward to a vlog as and when, enjoy some free time . Thanks. Susanx
I hope you find the right balance, being a chore is not good. I have always enjoyed your videos, whatever the content. You seem to have a lovely life in Fuerteventura which I am a tiny bit jealous of. Please don't stop completely as you will be sorely missed.
Arr bless you JP🥰. I have read every comment and everyone is so nice . I have loved and appreciated every video you have done for us all. You have kept us smiling 😃 in these scary times. But you have to come first and make yourself 😊 happy. As everyone has said do a video when you feel like and we all we still watch . However long we wait for them . The main thing is yours and Sue's happiness first . Keep safe well and happy JP. Loved to meet you and Sue one day soon when we are allowed to come to this beautiful island and thank you personally with coffee and cake 🎂😊
I recognize a lot of what you said JP and had much the same experience writing regular articles for our Village Voice magazine in Dersingham, Norfolk after retiring. It felt a compulsion to come up with something new and fresh for each issue, after all others seemed to manage it and I had 'my public' to think of!!! 😅 I even became it's editor for two years till it eventually affected my health and well-being in a big way and I had to crash out. Now I just relax and write an occasional article as and when I feel inspired and have got something worth saying but feel no compulsion whatsoever. You live in a great place out there. Relax, enjoy and be thankful for it. My drive and I were fortunate enough to spend all of last winter out there for an unplanned extended stay. I hope when this pandemic mess is finally over we can again, who knows, but at least we made the most of it whilst we could. I pray that you can too. The very best to you and yours and thanks for all you've done in keeping us posted on a place that's been special to us. 👍
Thanks Steve. I know the Dersingham area quite well as my parents retired to Gaywood on the edge of Kings Lynn. I haven't been there since my Mum died in 2006 apart from to the cemetery they are in.
We watch your videos every week and always enjoy them. If it’s become a chore then like you say it’s time to take a break and rethink things. Hopefully without the deadline you had made for yourself, it’ll become fun again. Maybe the subscribers could all pitch in to contribute to a replacement camera? I’d consider any payment you get from RU-vid a bonus if you start enjoying what you’re doing again assuming you don’t rely on the money. Whatever you decide, we’ll still watch as & when you post. Hopefully moving to our house in Fuerte next year so your channel keeps us in touch with everything 👍
Nil desperandum, JP. Hobbies should be enjoyable. I greatly enjoy your videos but you're entitled to enjoy making them as much as everyone enjoys watching them and you've built up a good stock of videos well worth viewing more than once.
I'm so sad to hear of your pressure you have been putting on yourself whilst I'm waiting in anticipation of your next video. Please do not give up your videos are brill and you have become a firm celebrity in our house with my 2 boys and hubby..... who needs moster or the other you tubers you are honest and very entertaining with in your posts. Just relax take some time for you and just post as and when. You are so very correct in one thing though and I'm sure everyone watching would agree you have a great community that watches regularly and regardless of what else is going on. But JP you have made that community and created a little JP fan club by being yourself. You should be so proud of that!! Take good care and hope to see a post again at some point but if not thank you for all of the moments you have picked me up especially through this bloody pandemic and the stressful days when I've been working hard in my secondary school teaching and just needed a moments hope! Kirsty 😀
All valid points and I'm glad you haven't stopped altogether. Gaming is the same. I can spend 1000 hours live streaming and with ads alone I'll make more on my howto gaming videos that are maybe 5-10 minutes long than I will on my 2 hour streams. But, like you, I also like the interaction I get with the people and I really like streaming. But, it's not helping to make this a lucrative hobby/job. Even my LWI channel I get much better results on my howto videos than my other videos, I'm sure once its monetized once again those will bear fruit once more as well.
That reminds me, I have your latest tour video to watch. I added it to me "watch later" folder but then with my memory I need a folder to tell me to look at the watch later folder!
I feel your pain John. I can relate to every point you made. Just putting videos out as and when they are ready is the right thing to do I think. I barely manage to feed myself on the income from youtube, and that's after five years of hard work and over 550 videos. But I do enjoy the somewhat limited freedom it gives me. Keep up the good work and make sure you have fun doing it.
Thanks Phil. I have been watching a number of yours late at night but sadly there have been very few adverts. Do you have mid-roll ads switched on as they do seem to make a difference.
Thanks JP - that sounds a better idea, you shouldn't be putting yourself under pressure to put out videos for little or no reward - Really enjoy your videos and look forward to each one.... As and when they arrive 😁😁👍
Missing you and Corelejo soooo much...please come back soon,Fridays aren't the same, watching you gives me hope!l've missed you soooo much.Come back soon. Regards Susie 🦎
Waiting for you to start some motocycle vlogs. Yeah, I think it was your video of how to revive a lithium battery was how I stumbled on the channel. It worked and have stayed as subscriber! Love your weather, as gives us hope here in Ireland 😁
Well, I appreciate your videos mate. You are an important part of my leisure time and you give me lots of reason to go to Fuerteventura. I am in the U.K. as I think you know. I agree that you should take it a bit easier. I haven't uploaded for ever and my channel keeps growing sllowwwllllyyy. I love the Zoo, but haven't watched the video yet ~groans~ I missed that one. I will go there immediately :) I have also been feeling a bit down recently and have no reason whatsoever to feel that way apart from the C word. My wife said that was the cause and sadly I agree. I haven't set foot outside the U.K. since 13th September 2019 and haven't been camping since 2019 also, Fuerteventura March 2019 but I haven't done videos about your patch. I know you are not a bike guy but I know you have looked at my channel in the past, so I hope to go camping now my bike has got an MOT today! It's a bit heavy though and I have a dodgy knee LOL.
I used to play golf and even bought my clubs with me but with all of the metalwork in my right arm I am even worse than I was before I smashed it. I don't do things that involve getting wet 😏
Sod it, just do what you want when you want. It must have been bloody hard to think of ideas this past year. Personally I would be quite interested in some local news from time to time, when there is Any!! Keep smiling.
Thanks Lindsay. Well I do have the "Buy me a coffee" link that someone suggested I put on last year. I thought no-one would but it surprised me how many actually have used it.
Keep you chin up JP, we all love you and understand you. Honestly, it’s better if you take your time and upload content that is made with love rather than something done with an obligation to do it 👍 your faithful viewers will still be here and patiently wait. 🤗 see you later
Totally agree with the comments so won't repeat them, take Your own time and post when You want 1000% support here, take care and still looking to get over in dec 2021,Jon and Donna from heatwave Poole.
Totally understand JP. May be treat it as a hobby again and don’t put so much pressure on yourself to constantly upload. I enjoyed your content and would miss it if it wasn’t there. Just chill out mate and upload when you want. Regards Simon.
I got a horrible sinking feeling when reading that title, I understand what you mean when you say it's starting to feel more like a job than a hobby, A lot of RU-vidrs say they go through that phase quite regular and just think to themselves 'Why am I doing this?' But eventually they say it passes and you start enjoying it, and like u say, you've got a nice little community here and you're talking to and keeping updated the people who would love to be there but can't because of what's going on. P.s I hope you twatted that pain in the ass of a fly.
I just returned from a kiting trip to Fuerteventura with my boys. Your videos played a large part in selecting FV. But I know video creation is time-consuming and more difficult when the creativity runs low. One idea would be to create a video or two highlighting great local restaurants. We found it difficult to find authentic Spanish cuisine in an authentic setting at an affordable price.
I hopè you had a great time Patrick. I'm glad the videos helped. I have made a few videos about places to eat here that we have been to (and like). ru-vid.com/group/PLVkXzA9rlHfoOQf9fcTx2fgCjGUspQ74r I have lived here 8 years and still don't really know what "authentic" Spanish cuisine is, to be honest. Most Spanish restaurants either do Tapas (but what is Spanish about that apart from it being small dishes of pretty international food) or those that sell other Spanish food is generally just meat or fish served with some form of potato (chips or Canarian boiled) - rarely even any vegetables. Paella is the only real Spanish dish I can think of.
I totally agree with your point of view. After all, it should be fun for you, too, to make your videos. I can only speak for myself that I love your videos and that I´m always happy to watch them. Thank you so much, Mai
Keep at it mate just don't pressure yourself to get vids out.....quality not quantity! You have a good subscriber count and people have got to know you well and will look forward to your content when ever it comes out!
You've been too hard on yourself John. I admire your honesty and openess with your subscribers and I'll be astonished if you get any comments saying you're doing the wrong thing. Life is short ... it's time for you, Sue and the boys to enjoy it to the full :)
Chin up JP no pressure just post some videos now and again if you feel like you can do it I like you channel and I will keep watching and subscribe it. Take care buddy
I wish I made that an hour on YT. I can spend 15 hours editing a 'special' vlog (Usually 4 or 5 on a daily) and still make £3 or £4 a day on it. Still - I love it and don't think I'll ever stop.
Jp just do one when you feel like it my wife and I would really miss your videos and as dog owners we would miss seeing your boys we obviously can’t get out there at the moment so your videos take us there
I have been enjoying your videos for four years now. At first because I was interested in the Island, now because you are someone I wish I knew in real life. I hope you'll opt to just make a video when you feel like it, and abandon the self-imposed schedule.... Take care, be safe, and be happy!
Hey JP, sorry i was longtime not here but I cant leave this video uncommented. Enjoy your life on this beautiful island and forget uploads, subscribers, Computers and money. If i were you i would spent 20hours per week on the beach and just looking at the Ocean. With pressure nothing is good. And if you feel you need to upload something then do it. And i would also like to see a DIY video or something technical maybe in combination with something of fuerte from you. All the best and I hope we will meet again someday at the island. Wasnt there since 2019 😕. Kind regards also to sue and the dogs.
Yep, it took me until Dec '21 to come to the same conclusion. Longer than that to actually stop streaming. But when its something you no longer look forward to doing then it's time to make a change. And with both channels having hundreds of videos I've come to the same conclusion, a few good howto videos will earn more than all of the rest of the videos. Saw you email(s), I'll write up a reply later today and let you know what's going on.
Hi JP I am glad for any new vid you do as I love the island and your attitude to life. Do not stress yourself, I’ll be happy for any news you bring no matter when. Enjoy your life, no one knows how much time we have “ prepaid”. Hope to come in September and would be very pleased to meet you there. You are not obliged to report repeatedly.. I undestand though you feel a kind of duty when so many people like what you do. But all these viewers want you to be a happy and relaxed man. Rgds from CZ
Reading the comments on here, your fans will clearly miss your weekly blogs JP. However There’s a definite consensus that you shouldn’t beat yourself up when you’re not enjoying it. It was inevitable that new content would become difficult to identify. I’m winding down to retirement and have come up with a new hobby (I’ll not bore you with the details) and a pal gave me a book about how to sell my output on the internet. No chance! It’s a hobby. So chill, enjoy your freedom in the sun and we’ll all revel in the occasional gems that you post which help to make up the rich tapestry of our lives.
I kept filming the rest of it and the fly wouldn't give up. As the wind had picked up again I reshot the last two thirds in the shelter of the school building just in case the phone audio was bad (which it was) and thankfully the fly had given up by then. Thanks Gene.
Hi jp don't put yourself under pressure we do love seeing your videos through me an my husband are coming to fortaventura on Saturday ( all being well ) let's hope we get there lol 😆 😄
