It will hopefully show that anyone can retire to the sun if they want. It is not a matter of "being lucky" as so many people say to me. If that were the case, with my luck, then I would be living somewhere really awful, such as - well I won't say.
My wife, Sue, and I sold up in the UK and moved here to Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, in 2013 after she retired. The Canary islands are Spanish governed, part of the EU and are located 80 miles off the coast of north Africa in the Atlantic Ocean.

I've been to Lanzarote 3 times during the last 5 years. I went to Mallorca for a week last January and loved it. I have decided that its better to visit a country where I am welcome as a tourist. A flight to The Philippines costs €800 to €1000 and 4 star resorts cost €50 per night. 60 cents for a bottle of beer in a shop or €1 for the same beer in a bar. Very welcoming and friendly people.
If you are jumping two identical batteries then you don't need to as you just connect like for like. Otherwise you could use a multimeter if it isn't marked.
I only wish he had put the VOM meter on the terminals to show us how much voltage he had restored after the full charge. With all the success stories listed here, how many of the "fixed" batteries will hold their charge for 3-4 months after the fix? My 14.4v old Snap on drill nicad battery I run down to zero rpm and then charge it and itr gets back up to almost 15vdc. IF it sits for a couple months, it's dead as can be.. Not sure how you fix that....
There are lots of things I coud have done Max but when I made this video I only had about 50 subscribers and just thought this tip may help one or two of them. I had no idea it would get so many views.
They are apartments and not quite finished yet but most of the noisy work should be over. Cotillo is a nice chilled place (except during the fiesta in August).
Very interesting and helpful. I have similar situation where I put the battery on charger for two days and when I connect the battery to the drill it works for 30 seconds and then it stops. Mine is a RYOBI 9.6V battery (No. 130269014). It has 4 prongs but the drill has only two connector. Can I charge it with a drip charger that I use to charge my lawn tractor battery? Thank you.
@@JPinFuerteventura Thank you for your prompt response. So there is no chance to revive it? I can't seem to find a replacement battery like this on Amazon.
@robkeshav800 I think the only way to solve this may be to open it up, test each cell and, if possible, buy replacements. There are videos on RU-vid that show how to do this.
It worked for my Ryobi 18v battery. I used 2 electrical wires, attached for 30 seconds. Took 1 hr to fully charge. This bat. sat in basement for 3 yrs & I thought it was dead. Many thanks, JP, from Newfoundland, Canada.
I have found the issue. The two batteries have to have the same characteristics for it to work, or at least in the case of erbauer 18v 2.0 ah. I tried it and it is charging👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻… I will tell in hour or so if it worked. The issue I got now is that the guide light of the drill does not go off. Does anyone know how to turn it off? It is meant to go off on its own after you stop using the drill.
Sorry, just saw your comment. I am glad you worked out the problem. I have never heard of the light problem. I wonder if that is why your battery went flat in the first place?
|'ve bought a work light from Lidl for 3 quid (normally 20-25) knowing about this it was on knock down and confident it has gone below the charge to be re-charged but don't care Its still new condition, I'm sure I can revive it, I just came to confirm and leaving it on charge for a day knowing I'm probably waisting time but will do the trick tomorrow and totally confidant it will work
As suspected it was a waste of time leaving it overnight on the charger but I felt I had to try and was dead next morning but a quick flash on another battery the charged recognised it and its brand new, take notice of this trick people it works
Dangerous, by todays standards batteries need to have a BLM that cuts off at a safe lower voltage to prevent complete depletion. Chargers need to be smart to trickle charge the first few minutes as Lithium batteries can be very unstable. This charger is a dumb charger doesn't have any protection or stage charging... it can overheat and set batteries on fire. The only this the charger did was it detected the battery was in undervoltage state and refused to charge out of safety.
The “jumper cable” charging method worked! I tried the off and on, off and on method, but that didn’t work. The battery needed the boost to fool the charger! I used a couple of wires and electrical tape to hold them on and after 15 minutes…success!! Thanks!
Not many people have the 12v ones now. The battery seems to charge to about 5.5v but won’t go past that. The other battery gets to about 2v. 1st one Not flashing broken now either. Was not doing anything before but I used my tester to check the charger voltage and after that it seems to have started charging even if it’s not the full voltage. I think the batteries are past it as had the unit for about 10 years now.
Yes, if they are actually charging but not to a very high voltage then it, unfortunately, sounds like they have damaged cells. This method won't solve that.
Visit here every December, beautiful island, never had any trouble. Once I saw a drunk local shouting, in 6 visits, that's an every day occurance in the uk.
Couldn,t agree more with your comments, ourselves we haven,t had a newspaper in the house for 15 years and don,t intend to start. We have been coming to El Cotillo for some 16 years and have no intention of stopping. Next visit June 5th for ten days, can,t wait😍
Me and my wife visited Feureventura for my wife's Birthday in February this year , i suffer badly from SAD , so i put away the light box and enjoyed some real sunshine, the media won't stop us coming, anyway the caneries need the tourist's for their livihood.
I go to mainland Spain a lot. I hear all of this nonsense. Cannot understand why visitors to Spain believe the rubbish that the British Media puts out under the guise of being helpful.
Thanks! I also live on the island and appreciate your thoughts and videos very much. I agree that the living situation overall has been problematic for years, and I hope that international reporting on this issue will take the larger development into account.
Absolutely great video, my first time in Fuerteventura was 18th years ago and it was in Corralejo ( i hated hotel etc . also everyone was Brit and you didn't feel you r in Spain) After that we never go for all inclusive in fact we did only for children. We went to El Cotillo it was so different calm but yet no commercial building, literally nobody was ther and now seeing your video looks so different. Thank you for sharing. All the best and maybe see you in July 🫶
Hi JP, it's the same in Birmingham they have just gone bust. No council housing being built. They can afford to put boat people in top hotels, but not our own people. There is so much land in Caleta where I go. Why don't they build property there for the local people. My answer is greed on the political system there no money for them. What do you think. Jim Birmingham.
Another great film JP. I share your love of Fuerteventura, there in March and October last year, and will be again this September. I agree with you about journalists, my view is that they are lower than a snakes belly. My rant about politicians would take too long and be too unprintable. All the best , C.
100% agree with you, the media is run by politicians, we are told what they want to tell us and no more. It doesn’t matter if what they are telling us is fabricated they still expect us to believe it.Free speech there is no free speech anymore
Same in 🇬🇧 you cretin. Freehold?? Don't pay council tax for 6 months, see who will own your "paid, freehold " house 😉 . It won't be you my dear "homeowner"!
