@@marklawd91too much of a glaze. Kanye dropped 3 literally peak 10/10 albums that defined a generation and then continued to drop multiple other legendary albums
18:40 I could be missing some details but i believe either on or off the drugs is actually a sample of Future’s song Turn On The Lights turned into an AI Al Green song. its so crazy 🤯
Yup that's it! Came to comment this. The song can be found on RU-vid if you search Turn On The Lights soul ai. The lyrics are straight from the Future song but it's turned into a soul song.
Ngl I thought this was gonna create a bigger talking point, keeping in mind how people reacted to all the AI generated music in the past year and such.
@@DanTheMan-kf3igit’s scary to think about because I truly thought it was just Peggy finding amazing soul samples like usual. Had 0 clue that it was AI till I was told.
According to NFR, this album is on par with American Dream by 21 Savage, Vultures 1, and below We Don’t Trust you. Like come on bro what are we doing lol. This is album of the year no question.
@@NFRPodcastyeah it’s pretty obvious to most of us that ant is not a big fan of JPEGMAFIA’s style. He doesn’t think he’s bad or anything but I could not ever see ant bumping smth like veteran
@@cillianodonovan9621not a perfect album but still pretty good imo. “New Black History” was def not a miss tho, could be the beat if that’s what you mean but Vince Staples slid on that track
So according to Ant, This is JPEGs BEST album and it's still not enough for an Amazing rating? Nah, That's INSANE lol, Never really understood his stance on Peggy tbh, Like he has practically nothing negative to say about him, Acknowledges how incredible his music is, But then goes on about how the album probably won't be in his rotation, Like i feel there is a negative stigma that surrounds JPEG's music, Like it makes you an outcast for having his music in your playlist because it's "Different" along with lacking any mainstream appeal. Sadly I think the name that's attached to the music makes a massive difference on how people perceive the sounds that they are hearing. I think if someone like Travis or Carti put out a track like Sin Miedo, It could legitimately be a hit. People wouldn't feel near as put off to such a wild sound because its a well known artist they're already fond of putting it out. I think it would be viewed as a banger, And people would continue to give them praise for their creativity.
Vulgar display of power has inspired me to release like 20+ hybrid songs I’ve been working on but never really felt like it had a genre home. You know what the home is? Online lol
15:34 It's not an Al Green sample its actually an AI 1973 remix of Future's "Turn On The Lights". Idk how he had that idea but its so damn angelic lmao
I’m pretty sure the sample for either on or off the drugs is an AI blues song that was originally a Future song titled “Turn On The Lights” from 2012. If you pull up the lyrics to the Future song with the original sample, the lyrics are the same.
don't rely on other men is top three on this album, Peggy giving us a banger that no one else on the planet could create. You crazy for not replaying that shit !
For me this is a 9-9.5/10 overall. I think it's some of his most exciting production, most dynamic performances, best features (although I agree that Freaky is a little weak), and most personal and vulnerable lyricism. It still falls behind LP! and The Ghost~Pop Tape for me as those are both near perfect albums, but this is my #2 of the year so far, only behind Brat which just gets better and better the more I listen to it My favorite songs 1. i recovered from this 2. Exmilitary 3. JPEGULTRA
PEGGY really impressed me with this album it’s better than STH imo and I think Vince Staples should really make an album similar to his feature on New Black History just him on Peggy production 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@mike04574I think the highs are higher here and I love the metal production throughout and the writing is more personal aswell. I may like it more than Scaring the Hoes
on genius it says "AI generated 70’s blues song titled". Dude misread "AI" as "AL" and "generated" as "GREEN". so it's 'AI Generated 70s blues song' not 'Al Green 70s blues song'. 🤣. it's actually Future's song "Turn on The Lights" that was AI modified into a 70s blues song.
these reviews have been getting better and better. love how the segments work and how you go into each one. still don’t love the scale but good work boys
You're missing a lot of things with this record but i'm not surprised. An album that is ahead of its time won't get recognition from its contemporaries.
My ratings Artist Performance: Amazing Content: Great Features: Amazing Production: Perfect Replay Value: Perfect Overall: Amazing (Strong 8 - Light 9) More experimental albums always get me coming back to them all the time. It’s just really fun to hear some crazy shit. This is definitely my album of the year so far.
It's a great run, but he has the same problem as Earl Sweatshirt in the sense that all their albums vary from good to great, but they don't have a masterpiece yet
the production on either on or off the drugs is a sample of a 1973 soul AI version of future’s turn on the litghts. i can’t think of anything funnier s/o peggy
I honestly enjoyed this album a lot. JPEGMAFIA has definitely been consistent over the past few years he's been in the genre. That something I can really appreciate for someone who puts hard effort into their work. Peggy needs to be talked about more in music.
@@Christian-tr6fx well I liked how it’s him sharing his testimony kind of with these nice gospel productions and all the features play their part for the most part except for Offset on EXIT 9
@@Dev23gaming i still need to check out blue lips😭😭 i just cant get over songs like jpegultra and either on or off the drugs. Granted i have a massive peggy bias. W picks tho
Wish there was a Paris Texas feature on either don't rely on other men or vulgar display of power. Those guys would've gone crazy. Still an amazing album
How do they talk so little about Exmilitary? Its easily song of the year, its like the Bohemian Rapsody for rap. The beat drop on that song made me relive Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the same time, and Im not even chinese
I listened to this project and to be honest I didn’t really like it. It was my first Peggy album. I do however understand how high quality this album is after listening to vultures 2 😂 I only enjoyed the slower songs on this album. I personally don’t like his voice but I can respect the art. This was an amazing album
Authentic and original production. You know it's a Peggy production when you hear it. But to call a spade a spade, the lyrics were good, not amazing. ATOY contender.
Jpegmafia is really holding a strong argument for being the goat on consistency and creativity. This album is in a range of 8 to 10/10. Who is on his level as an artist? Please enlighten me
Not many. Obviously kendrick and tyler but they haven’t been as active. Billy woods/armand hammer and boldy james are definitely up there with peggy for consistency and creativity.
i love the album yet i don't feel like it compares to his last two project, like when i think of jpegmafia i think of songs from lp offline scaring the hoes or veteran it's better than amhac though
