It has cruise control in 1961 can't believe 😮😮

Back then it Tata and Daimler Benz were making trucks as joint venture in the country till 1969, and Diamler used to send two of it's latest cars to India gratis for the use of JRD and Sumant Mulgaonkar who was the boss at TELCO. The practise of sending cars to India continued till 1974, when later in 1975 I recollect the year correct was when Sanjay Gandhi tried to impound the cars before they landed on the docks at Bombay. JRD was very annoyed and had them returned before they could be taken out of customs. That is the tale of how JRD used to have the latest Mercedes cars in the 60s and 70s..

I'm 53 now and i admire the genius of his since i was 20. I literally feel extremely proud talking about him. I bow to him.The kind of deep respect and regard i have for him is beyond words. I find the vertical speedometer the most interesting feature of that series. In those days you get a full analogue instrumentation such a compact assembly yet so many gauges (hence information read out) all-in-1 unit, i'll say there's some potential for Daimler to do modern day version of this instrumentation panel but using a small vertically mounted tablet display in a future A, B or C-Class model...this idea of reading road speed using a vertical bar they can add a rev counter bar which changes colour from white (normal) to green (economy zone) to yellow to red depending on engine rpm...refreshing change from the over common 2-round-dials type of design seen today !
