JRPGS: Why You Should Play Them 

If it wasn't for JRPGs, I wouldn't be a gamer. In the early to mid 2010s, when the genre almost completely vanished, I was almost completely retro-gaming. If they ever disappear again, I'll go right back to retro-gaming without a second thought.

Pokemon was my only jrpg until I started watching you. Now I'm diving head first into more jrpgs. Great video

Because of long cutscenes, I think jrpgs are a great way to eat snacks while playing. I also like the wholesomeness and the calmness of it all. Though, if you do not have the patience to read then these games aren't for you.

Oh shit! Yakuza is a great way to introduce people, though it may be a bit long or dense for those with less time, for that I'd recommend Mario RPG (SNES or Switch) as it only takes about 15-20 hours to beat.

My first JRPG was Golden Sun on the GBA. Played it up until I got stuck at the forest because I didn’t realize you needed to use the water from the lighthouse to heal the tree. Now I no longer have my copy of it. 😢

My JRPG backlog is at its peak :D I don't know if this is a good or bad thing :s Regarding Yakuza, I 100h+ Yakuza 0 5 months ago, and you know I HAVE to play them all before playing Like a Dragon, this is a task from the heaven, I don't have a choice.

I feel they call it was named ‘Yakuza: Like A Dragon’ to get ready for the series being titled Like A Dragon world wide. In Japan it was called ‘Ryū ga Gotoku 7: Hikari to Yami no Yukue’ meaning Like A Dragon 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness

While I'm still not sold on this whole "second golden age of JRPGs" tagline, it's nice that people are at least finding stuff to play and enjoy. Even if most of them are just new entries in legacy series or re-releases/remakes of already popular games. Not to mention it's been coming at the expanse of dismissing everything else unfortunately. But you know what, whatever. Japanese-centric RPGs have always been something you had to tip-toe around cause of all the associated stigma and connotations. So even a little amount of outward positivity for once is nicer than not.

I love the JRPG Genre the same way I love the Action Adventure Genre, the Western RPG Genre and the Stealth Genre. Here’s a list of my favorites. most people consider JRPG as 'not my niche' which is.... understandable. looking by how most Japanese spend their time reading, it's heavily influence to why JRPG are mostly story focused, which... you know... not most people are fond to read stuff...?

I like Pokemon, But in general I prefer games without turnbased combat. Happy to see more JRPGs with realtime combat

Is persona 5 bad for a first timer?

My first RPGs were Pokemon and Fire Emblem. I have been buying all of them since 2010. No, I am not ok. Fire Emblem has ruined my life. I have also jumped into the rabbit hole that is Trails and I am 7 games deep. Falcom is holding my wallet hostage and I am compelled to buy every new Trails games Limited Edition on Release. They also force me to buy and play every Ys game. I have gotten almost all the Rune Factory games, I have bought 3 Star Ocean games and I have too many RPGs to play. Especially falcom RPGs. They still won't hand me back my wallet. I need a new Fire Emblem. Awakening can only hold me over until I complete the support log. I need that FE 4 Remake! JRPGs are great and I love them very much. I just really need to stop buying stuff on release. It is ruining my finances. But I always get weak. They are just too good. The old Ys games are quite fun though. The music is amazing.

My only problem with jrpg's are the turn based combat...I dont care about the graphics I just hate the combat system. I really wanted to play omori, persona series, ff series but I can't because of the combat

Turn based just doesn't appeal to me. Any JRPG with a fun combat system that isn't turn based sure. But I'm not spending hundreds of hours doing it turn based.
