Banner of the Maid is epic. Love that it uses real life characters and battle locations from the Napoleonic era. There are a few frustrating difficulty spikes, but well worth playing. And loving the art style.
It's on PS4 where I think I played half of it, but haven't completed it yet due to frustration over the terrain vs. natural character movement spaces. I think it's fun but some characters have classes like cannoneer which you get four squares of movement for but then get cut in half whether on a sunny map or not. Versus cavaliers just get straight up six and ignore that most of the time. Long story short positioning can be bad in game.
I really really love Banner of the Maid. We (as the website in which I write about JRPGs) wrote an article in italian about how much is awesome this JRPG, and really deserves a Physical Edition. Plus most of the characters are representation of really existed historical figures, that also have an interesting history theirselves. I'm also really curious about Astlibra Revision, never heard of this game and got my attention immediately
Just echoing the sentiment that the games in the list are actually more niche and obscure games instead of those lists that think Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 are "hidden gems" like no one's ever heard of those before.
“God Wars: The Complete Legend” has been delisted from every digital shop (the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation Store at least) so if you want this game you’ll need to go physical (sadly without the DLC).
I'm so happy you mentioned Little Noah! I was familiar with it from its mobile release and I was so happy when it shadow dropped. So fun! Definitely recommended!
Some amazing mentions here! For me, Comic star heroine and Astlibra Revision are top of my radar now! I love that you do these videos! There is always something I find, every single time! Keep up the amazing work brother! #HallowedBeThyGamers!
Brigandine is such an amazing game!!! I have like 350 hours in it and I want a sequel so badly! The endless replay ability of the level 1 mode is so much fun.
Dude, you're on a roll lately! What with the sheer quantity AND quality of your videos🎉 Please keep 'em coming - your recommendations are always on point, and I can't wait for more😊
Thank you for showing Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. That game and the original are my favorite games of all time, and it always brings me a smile when I see someone mentioning them. :) There were other great games in this video toosuch as Cosmic Star Heroine and Banner of the Maid, so I'm bookmarking this video so I can check out the ones in the video I haven't played yet. :)
You consistently surprise me. I have a massive NSW collection with some very deep cuts that I’m sure not many people of heard of. Each and every list you name one of those “deep cuts.” (If not more.)
@@HallowedBeThyGame Thank you, it’s getting pretty respectable, there are a few I would still like. I’m with you on the Astlibra Revision I would love there to be a physical of that.
No Cthulhu Saves Christmas? if you liked Cosmic Stare Heronie you might like Cthulhu Saves Christmas as well, the NG+ final boss is a nice twist as well.
As someone who played all major console SAO game. Fatal Bullet is the best, hands down. Best story, best game play, best character creator, and best progression system. It's unfortunately has only the second best multi-player, though.
Some more good stuff! Fatal Bullet was a fairly good shooter and I spent almost as much time in the character creator as I did the actual game! I did unlock the secret ending as well! Astlibra looked interesting as well...
I have LOVED Brigandine since the original on the PS1, and the sequel is fantastic as well. Can also second the opinions on Cosmic Star Heroine and Banner of the Maid
Thanks for the video! Great list! I have about half of these games~ Little Noah is a great game. I beat it through completely and collected most stuff. I forget it exists in my library since it's such a short game.
Little Noah’s art is made by the same person who does the Bravely Series so if you like Bravely’s style then you’re bound to like the art of Little Noah.
The reason Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom looks so good is because it was made by RIdeon, the developers of Mercenaries and the recent Cross Tails. They are a budget developer, but they put more effort into their games than some of the other Kemco developers. IMOIMO of course. I don't hate Kemco as much as others do, but they have kinda earned their reputation.
love astlibra revision I like and love it for its price its a golden gem with a nice story , replay ability. want it for switch but a physical version xP
Ironically number 4 God Wars has been delisted from switch e-shop, I was lucky enough to get it before it closed down at a very good discounted price including most of the DLC,(let me have been one or two that I wasn’t able to download because it wasn’t downloadable)
The only things I don't like about SAO Fatal Bullet are the movie long cutscenes early on, the childhood friend we know nothing about, and seeing the whole cast thrown at us early on. Personally I'd be happier if a SAO game didn't have any of the cast in the game or at least just running into them occasionally as we're adventuring and not have them integral to our story. I'd just like to see a new perspective and just have minimal involvement with them at most. And if people like their involvement leave it in as an option. But the less I see them the more immersed and sense of accomplishment I'll have as I progress
Astlibra is probably my game of the year (being of the games I played this year) I believe this was mostly done by one person. There is DLC coming soon that is already out on PC. Also, some of the character art was done with help from someone from vanillaware
Nice list! For once there's nothing that I need to add to my wishlist, well besides Labyrinth of Zangetsu, but it was already there so at least that one won't be your fault as to why I'll spend money when I get it LOL! Great video and keep up the good work!
How interesting, your last video had a 2D side scrollling game that I thought looked just like Astlibra Revision. I was about to say something in terms of a recommendation of it over what ever that game was. I played Astlibra Revision on steam and absolutely loved it. A single developers passion project, and the love comes through!
Hey Hallowed I know that Sunshine Coastline is a banger but Ys 8 as lots of other tunes that are just as good 😉 "Lost in Green" "Crimson Fighter" "Gens d'Armes" "Red Line" "Corridor of the Lost Ages" for example. I'll check Brigandine and Banner of The Maid out 👍
Out of all the games here, I imported the PAL version of SAO Fatal Bullet...after downloading the digital US version, so I have it physically as well. That said, I *wish* more SAO games were like Fatal Bullet, as in create your own character who’s the main focus of the game, *not* another Kirito centered game.
Thanks man, you did say there was more content coming but would it be possible if you could let us know if each game has a physical or not? Much appreciated Ren
I know this is a video about the switch but did you play the first brigandine on ps1? If you enjoying the sequel i highly recommend the orginal. Also I would recommend adventure bar story it does the business Sim dungeon diving thing too but I enjoyed it more than blacksmith of the sand kingdom.
@HallowedBeThyGame oh well then yeah you should really try the first brigandine, as far as adventure bar story you seemed to enjoy the business sim, dungeon crawler thing and it also does it. I'm not saying it's better then blacksmith of the sand kingdom but I enjoyed it more for personal taste as I liked running a pub better the being a blacksmith. Also moonlighter does the same thing but I'm sure you have had to played that one.
Cosmic Star Heroine is great! That company's other games are good too. I will say I disagree it has a hardcore story, the story/characters are really really meh, but that's my lone complaint... these games are super short and sweet and great! I've played the first five games on this list and would definitely recommend all of them. Runersia was not for me but it's a game that all SRPG fans should check out. I own Astlibra Revision and have heard such craaaaaaaaazy things that I know I'll be trying it out soon!
If Astlibra Revision gets a physical I will definitely get it hands down🥰 was only able to play 40 minutes of the digital game after I purchased it because it got corrupted and crashed my system😈 still that was enuf for me to know how great the game is. At least my switch was not ruined by the game I just unfortunately ended up losing some save data for some other games 😤 so I ended up having to to a system restore ….. now I get to play my games all over again 👻 ( one reason I don’t like or trust digital content in this day and age)
@@HallowedBeThyGame Yea was it not ideal for me😩 at least my system still works and I only lost save data.. still as it’s happened before I’m not really comfortable with digital games anymore. 8 times in 3 weeks is more then a simple coincidence
the "quality word per minute" count is crazy today 😅... im not saying you say it a lot but if i was playing a drinking game i would be hammer by the 3 game... love your videos still
Hmmm. God Wars is okay. The Japanese mythology story is nice but animations are very basic and battles can drag on for ages, even if you're overlevelled...
@@DangerCrow It's a joke, since I'm American the joke is that since France waved the white flag in 1940 because they were overwhelmed by Germany, then them refusing to help in Iraq it's a running joke even used by Hollywood calling them cowards. Obviously every country has a great history that can be learned. I used it there like who cares about a history of giving up but oh wait there's fan service then count me in. But no I don't know much about French history. My history teacher quit when it came time to learn about France. He must've been wanting us to learn the way of the French.
