i played and started in this game...in four years at jsu i never seen so many people at a game in my life our stadium only held 62,000 but it was announced that we had 67,000 people there and there was probably close to 10,000 people outside
Because there's more people when it's in Jackson. MS Veterans Memorial Stadium is a bigger stadium than Mumford so you will have a bigger crowd in Jackson vs when the game is in Baton Rouge, which will make the game more lively.
I just graduated from SU last year and I marched with the Jukebox. I will admit I have to give JSU credit on this battle. They were different compared to last year. But the one thing that tick me off is when people are saying that JSU just blew us out. Coming from somebody who have played in the Boombox Classic. Both bands put on a good show and there was no winner nor was there a loser.
Can this really be considered a battle when SU is playing the actual JJ's Entrance from Coming to America and JSU is playing David Banners version that was on Drum Line.
Y'all in the comments saying "quality over loudness. Jsu was just louder. su won" but when su play a band that sounds better but not louder yall first argument is "SU BLEW THEM OUT THE WATER THEY GOT NO POWER OVER SOUTHERN" 😂😂😂 pick your fucking arguments.
Most SU fans are bias af. They switch the arguments around to give props to SU while giving zero credit to the opposing bands. Hell even JSU fans will give SU props but you will rarely see it the other way around. I've only seen like one SU fan to ever give JSU any kind of props and that was on a Nobody does it better video where they said that song was their favorite JSU song. Other than that, SU fans are extremely bias towards Southern. There's nothing wrong with a little bias but damn, at least give the other band credit if they are giving SU a good battle.
I still give props to SU for playing "The King's Motorcade" from the actual movie, which is why they won that battle...The ONLY school to play the ACTUAL song, and not David Banner's remake. But I will say, when it comes to David Banner's "Everything," JSU plays it the best. Still in all, SU got that. When JSU play REAL music, then we can call this a battle
I liked Southern's arrangement better, but JSU's arrangement was more effective for the heads up battle if that makes sense. 🤔 Both bands are fire as always. 🔥🔥
After looking back at the su vs jsu but it’s peak in 08. Both bands sounded decent and well balanced. Su took this engagement but damn jsu was so good in this vid
SU and JSU are two of my favorite bands but JSU got them on this one.I think they way JSU arranged their version is what did it for them. I neeed this game on dvd.Anybody got a nice clear copy?
I agree with you bruh...I was also there and both bands were on point!This was the best boombox classic to me out of the 3 past that I've been to...I do believe that they are the 2 best bands in the SWAC!There was no winner or looser at this game...
From a musical perspective, SU won that one easily. From a crowd-pleasing perspective, JSU won it easily. But it's kinda hard to properly judge SU's playing since JSU was playing over them half the time, which was pretty rude
I never implied that, I'm just saying it's like comparing Kanye West's version of through the fire to Chaka Khan's version, it's two totally different arrangements meant to serve their intended purpose.
@ACE1919 EXACTLY!!!! JSU did indeed get their little fan base crunk with their version, but SU came back, just as strong with the ACTUAL King's Motorcade from the movie....BEASTING!
whoever was on the right side sounded better. the tuba part was different than what im used to hearing but overall i like the arrangement. I prefer FAM's version but i like this one too. i think that was JSU on right, am i right?
I can't believe people think JSU's simple arrangement is even close to what the Jukebox was playing smh...I'm sure they heard the Jukebox play this the week before in Alcorn

I aint gon lie.....they caught me off guard with that song......but when they played it again.....you can tell it wasnt as intense as the first time....meaning they put they all in that one song and the rest of the game they was back to they usual selves......lol

Not to discredit The Boom but they played the rab version snippet of the song while SU played the THEME from the movie. SU OWNED JSU that day. you can't judge from just one CLIP. Every game a band gives the band across the field something to say,. . like yeah. . NOW they're blowin'. JsU Got touched on this day. LOL!!!
Well alright now its time to share some LIGHT with all of my fellow bandheadz...lol. I am more than certain we know the difference between two different songs. JSU played i believe Coming to America by David Banner (drumline soundtrack) and SU played Jahfee Jofee's Entrance( Coming to America Soundtrack) So of course they would sound different...i.e. the introduction that JSU played is totally diff from what SU played so,

I love everything about JSU bleed blue thru and thru but......to say SU is garbage is just silly. These are the 2 best bands in the SWAC and 2 of the best in the country. ....so to say one is slaw just because you probably prefer the other is just ridiculously STOOOOPID!
To actually break it down. even though they are playing two totally different or variations of the same song it's the structure of how they are arrranged.. The reason JSU is louder is cause parts are doubled... making it heavier producing loundness... SU's arrangement isn't doubled up like jsu... That's why it's sounds much weaker.. I like da way SU's is arranged... JSU brought it though... But I like SU...

These comments epitomizes the silliNESS the "S" has to go thru every year. Folks say "SU only plays loud", ignoring all of the clips like this. Then, when playing one of the many songs that are not for pure-power...folks play the "yall ain't powerful no more" card. Anybody with ears knows JSU won this one hands down... Sonic Boom Baby!!!! SU will always be second best in the SWAC but thats a good thing, Its some beast in the SWAC!!!!!
