I played snare drum back in high school and college and I had always been told that the snare drum was a difficult percussion instrument to master, don't know if that's true or not. Can anyone comment? My high school was a historically black high school in the city I lived in, and I also attended the only HBCU in the state. That state is Oklahoma.
It’s as difficult as any other instrument. With dedication and hard work you can play it well. Don’t convince yourself you can’t if you want to play. Get a good teacher and learn your rudiments!
Oh I had a good teacher in high school who taught me the basics and science of being a good percussionist. Because of him, my craft of playing the snare drum and the drum set was even better. That skill enabled me to be good as the drum captain my senior year.
