Ms Valley State's percussion section should have been invited. It would have been nice to see the three of them displaying their talent at the same event.
War and thunder is the most underrated drumline in the hbcu....southern wouldn't even challenge them in the boombox classic this year..smh..they called them out the stands.but southern didn't come...smh
I really miss the old alcorn.. All this duplicate of W.T aint gone work.. I like their old pitch basses and that T.O.P sound.. Elmer fudd, white lightning, 31 32 etc But W.T is wayyyy too polished man!!
Bruh u aunt never lying tradition is 💀 on both lines especially with form and top copying off of jsu neither lines play their original cadences anymore
Bruh! You spoke nothing but the truth! You must be an old head T.O.P? Elmer Fudd, White Lighting, new thang, togetherness! I played in the mid 90’s under Ephriam (RIP)
Overview: I'm going to be unbiased. Jackson State's line is a line i thought was overrated until i saw them live in 2012. Ever since then I've been a HUGE fan. Alcorn State has made changes to their line over recent years. Let's see how it ended up. Presence- JSU: 9.5 ASU: 8 Uniformity- JSU: 9.5 TxSU: 8.5 Cleanliness- JSU: 9 ASU: 6.5 Material- JSU: 10 ASU: 7.5 Difficulty- JSU: 10 ASU: 7 Musicality- JSU: 9 ASU: 7.5 Overall- JSU: 9.5, ASU: 7.5 Snares- JSU: 9.5, ASU: 6.5 Tenors- JSU: 9.5 , ASU: 7 Multi Tenors- JSU: 9, ASU: 8 Basses: JSU: 9.5, ASU: 7.5 Cymbals:JSU: 9, ASU: 7 Overall: JSU: 9.3, ASU: 7.2 Final score: JSU: 9.4, ASU: 7.35 Result: JSU with the W. Overall, Neither line was perfect. I heard a little dirt in JSU, and there were some minor flubs here are there, but overall things were very balanced. I heard more dirt and less dynamic contrast in Alcorn's section. Jackson State mostly stayed consistent with their execution of material, while Alcorn had some moments of goodness and other moments where they seemed to drop the ball. While grading sections I tried to be fair while holding both lines to a high collegiate standard. Both lines would be decent enough to provide a meaningful experience for the average high schooler coming in as a freshman, so I won't go so far as to disrespect either line with insinuating anything otherwise. However, at the collegiate level, there is a higher standard, so the bar has been raised. Smaller things are supposed to be noticed, so just being "pretty good" won't be enough to get to the top.. If I were to be biased, JSU would have gotten all 10s, but I couldn't ignore a few moments of dirt and I saw a few minor areas where every single movement was not 100% uniform across the section. However, uniformity has always been strong with WT, but I think their bread and butter has always been their aggression which is top notch and this battle was no exception. Their unifirmity will always be exceptional but I sometimes notice tiny sacrifices for the sake of aggression. Alcorn seems to be heading in that direction, but when JSU has had it as their identity from their inception, the few decades of a head start becomes evident. Honestly, I consider JSU among the top collegiate drumlines, so anyone going up against them will have to be prepared. Most other lines' "A game" is just another Saturday for WT and there's only one line in the SWAC that I see consistently give them headaches every year. (PV) Great battle! Agree? Disagree? What do you think?
1. Cleanliness 2. Execution 3. Difficulty of material 4. Drumline basics (Stick heights, uniformity, etc.) I do it in that order. #4 is sometimes tied with #1.
@@jaylinjones1744 Maybe, but them fools got so much precision they didn't call them the Navy Seals of Drumlines for nothing, saw their vids by the way. But in your opinion, the only drumline that can beat WT is WT. (EDIT) Then again, MDFS and Cold Steel would be LEGENDARY matchups for WT
Isaiah McGriggs what’s wrong with playing older that they made they gonna play em not waste them if the cadences still sound after so many years why stop
Alcorn know better than to go against JState with just one tenor drummer...off the rip they already lost just because of that smh forget the rest of the battle
When you lose a band director things changes.. TOP will pick back up... WT was small too two years ago so don't say what happen to them.. Just like football team when jsu hate Alcorn kicking there ass in a game... And we will smash that ass again in Nov.. When the Braves come to Jacktown
This isn’t even a biased opinion. WT all the way. Power. Precision. Presence. All around. Now in my very so biased opinion. Slawcorn y’all came with it but y’all cadences childish. And y’all basses wanna be tenors bad af but that’s neither here nor there. Quints really about y’all best section. But anyways #WT #FAYH #2013
