This is a video I produced for Pratt & Whitney that depicted the first flight of a B707 with 4 newly designed JT8D-219 engines mounted. They were partnering with 7Q7 out of San Antonio. We flew from San Antonio to Roswell, NM and back (didn't see any aliens however).

Pratt&Whitney spared no expense in it's research and development at Wilgoos Labratory in E. Hartford CN. back in the days of early jet engine testing. I worked there from 1966 to 1970, it was a first class operation.

P&W was truly king of commercial aviation in those days. Not the case anymore....GE has been no. 1 for a while now.

So this was 1999? Why the hell is the video so damn old looking, like its some government information film from the 60's? Also wasn't that engine massively obsolete by then anyway not least the actual aircraft.

Jeffers667 That's what it was built for. Think for minute, it was built larger with bit of a higher bypass ratio than the original JT8D engine, resulting in quieter takeoffs.
