One of the things that JDF does which satisfies me is that, he enters each note at its core or middle. He doesn't pretend to sing them or just float over them, he actually sings them. This creates a true legato line, in my view. Very beautiful.
i hate to be the first to comment. i am always shot down .....but here goes. i adore this. he just gets better and better. he sounds good, he looks good, and he has that extra something... sincerity. this is lovely. thank you so much.
Thanks for the kind words. Placido Domingo best described the talent and the voice of JDF citing that he has the best high notes and agility of any tenor that he had ever heard-and I agree. As for beauty of voice, he certainly has a gorgeous tone, but my favorite tenor voice for beauty is that of Mario Lanza, and then Fritz Wunderlich. In summary, we are lucky to have heard all of these great voices with each one offering something different and special.
Juan diegos's voice Sounds wonderful, especially in the high Register there is Nobody better than him, molto bravo, please enjoy him the other collegues Are dead
I'm no fan of florez, I think he is everything wrong with Opera today. That being said, he does have great high notes, but they are just a bit boring ( I think he is quote boring in general), you almost don't even notice he has hit them. For the rest of his voice, he just sounds like a lamb
Unico Arturo (era unico Alfredo Kraus,ma nato JDF)MAI SUPERABILE BELLEZZA TECHNICA VOCE E BELLEZZA. PHISICO PER ETERNITA...I LOVE YOU MOORE THAN ENIBODY EWER.GOD BLESS YOU M.B.DARDAY
Obviously he is leading tenor today, but the best of all time? I just don't know, he appears to only excel in Rossini and light Bellini - there have been tenors in history that not only sang this repertoire with mastery but also heavier roles, such as Giacomo Lauri-Volpi and Miguel Fleta, not to mention more recent tenors such as Stanford Olsen (whom I consider a much finer bel canto singer than JDF)
obviously no one has listened to Pavarotti if you want to learn how this aria should be sung he is the master to listen to. while parts are sung well it can come across as rather harsh.
Rockwell Blake. Check out this video on RU-vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xJCfVr8HuRc.html (Young Rocky in English) and hear an incredible high D at 3:50.
Certainly both men have very good ranges and voices for the 18th century type of Opera. However, my heart lies in the flowing dramatic arias of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Therefore, my favorite is Plácido Domingo.
I agree it is a fabulous rendition. But there are others comparable or better IMO. Listen fir example to the strangely little known but hugely talented Gianni Raimondi. And to sat JDF is the best tenor ever shows a lack of respect for the many verdi and dramatic tenors who can sing arias JDF can't or probably shouldn't. Actually, the most incredible tenor of all IMO is Franco Corelli. Such a huge voice yet he sings this aria with its top F as well or better than any lyric tenor. Just my 2 cents worth...
Tony Glazebrook there is no top F in this aria, that is Credeasi Misera, and Corelli certainly could not sing a top F. Corelli sings this aria a semitone lowered, with a C.
Un tenore molto migliore ma meno pubblicizzato è Yijie Shi, che è bravissimo in questo brano : ha note alte più potenti e più belle e una voce più intensa, corposa. Quella di Florez è sottile, scialba.
Sie haben sehr gutes Gerät!JDF ist wirklich Perfekt, aber "best of all time"?Suchen Sie,bitte,in RU-vid Kozlovsky - Cavatina des Almaviva mit hohes Fis,und er sang in Bolschoj-Theater in Moskau,Theater mit besonders schwere Akustik
“The best tenor of all time”? Ahahahahahahahahahahah! Florez ha una voce gonfiata, nasale, debole e ristretta... E la sua voce è più leggera dei soprani della vecchia scuola come Callas, Tebaldi e Ponselle! Com'è possibile che un tenore abbia una voce più leggera di un soprano? Ahahahahahahahahahah! Il migliore Arturo è Giuseppe di Stefano, non Florez.
