Being a Nats fan since they came to DC and after what happened in 2012 against the Cards, and then the next 3 playoff series losses to the Giants, Dodgers, and Cubs, I had not given up but my hope was almost gone being down 3-1 with Hader coming in. This team is different. They fought hard and went by their motto of playing a game 1 pitch at a time. They earned this win, and more importantly, restored that fire and hope in the fans with a historic 2 out rally in the bottom of the 8th. Can't make this stuff up. Amazing!

The scouting reports told Hader to pitch high fastballs out of the zone , and so he did. The Nationals hitters were patient, rarely fouling off balls, letting the count on balls to pile up, in the meat of the order, and their patience got rewarded. Hader walked into a trap unbeknownst to him and his coaches. This game was reversed on strategy alone.

4 home eliminations in playoff series. They needed this one. Maybe finally breaking thru, like Boston finally did after so many heart breaks, mostly against the Yanks, will spur them on to winning it all. They gotta re-sign Rendon though.

It’s insane how Yelich going down could have costed them this game. That would have been Yelich’s ball not Grisham’s. A modern tragedy.

How many times were the Nats down to their last outs? That’s what stuck with me about the entire ride. At no point did us fans see us winning any of those series. We were waiting for the big fuckup that never came. I’ll never forget this team. 95 years without a World Series in dc was worth the wait for moments like these and countless others. The best part is that strasburg and Soto have a five year window with a roster balanced in youth and experience to get a couple more. They know what getting past the ds is now. We told people for years that they could’ve been 4 time champions since 2012 and they finally proved it. The beer flying in the air was simply dc realizing and acknowledging that they finally had a baseball team that refused to lose.

@@David.lovesU how's it goin..just had to ask,Why should the Nats have lost because the guy on the opposing team made a bad play?..That's the entire point of the game..One team has to make more plays than the other, even the easy ones, especially in clutch situations..... furthermore, they loaded the bases before. the F#ck up,so,my point is ,it's not like they stopped the game & brought a fat lady from the crowd in to play right field, because Vegas paid the umps to let a fat lady in or something..Then I would go 'Yeah..your right!..they shoulda lost!'..I guess my point is.. Arguments have more power when they make sense..like if a game is decided by a bad call for example ..Its the kind of logic my bitchy deceased girlfriend used to use...just wondering.. have a good 1.

maybe THE greatest at bat of all time...elite closer vs young stud/possibly one of the greatest hitters to be...hader advantaged because it's a lefty vs lefty...soto an amazing hitter regardless...i knew the dude was fearless bc of that shuffle after ball 1 and gets a base hit to right on the next pitch...and it's bc of this at bat that lead the nats to an improbable championship
