But, I did have some stuff come up in the last month, including getting sick which forced me to step away from it for a little bit. Just a thought as a baseball player, I think the reason his groundball rate is so high is only because he is often late on pitches because he is seeing them deeper in the zone, having an eye like his requires you to see the ball deep, and when youre seeing pitches too far deep and they’re lower in the zone, because of his swing path, those pitches will be driven into the ground.
That walk stat before the age of 25 is super impressive, as you said, considering he had to play during the shortened 2020 season. And what's insane is that it's not even close

@@ABrandNewBallGameone thing that's related to this that i hoped you'd mention is both his absurd 22% walk rate in 2021, being the highest in the statcast era by an absolutely enormous amount for that stat, as well as him being iirc top 3 *alltime* in bb% post-integration
Imagine hitting like a prime Joey Votto as a kid and still being sort of let down. That's how good Soto is. His established body of work, youth, and insane ceiling will easily earn him a higher current value contract (~$450 million) than Ohtani next off season.
He’s the only player i would watch few of his at bats and make me feel like play mlb road to the show and try to be discipline like him but it’s so hard sometimes on all star mode, he makes it look Easyyy😆

I'm excited for Juan Soto to be batting in front of Aaron Judge. If you walk as much as he does, you're relying on the batters behind you to drive you in. Aaron Judge is such a fantastic guy to have batting behind someone who is probably going to get on base around 42% of the time.
I’m so sad we lost Soto in SD. He was my favorite player two years ago when I first started watching baseball and I watched him go to my favorite team, the Padres. It sucks that he had to go just because Preller threw money at whoever he could last offseason.
Well as a Yankees fan I absolutely love his ability to reach the base by any means. He was instrumental to the first 4 wins incidentally against the Astros to open the 2024 season. Although we lost the sixth game of the season his demeanor completely changed the Yankees hitting philosophy. He's the exact opposite of what we had when Gary Sanchez was there. From 2017-2021 the Yankees are full of strikeout prone hitters that lack plate discipline and devoid of lefty batting.
Dude has a .421 career obp over SIX seasons. People rave over schwarber because he walks so much but hits under the mendoza line, yet this gets overlooked. wild
Observing him every game for the first time as a Yankees fan I actually believe he was underhyped. The guy has an eye as a hitter unmatched in the game.
Only thing that hurts Sotos 2021 mvp chances were the 50 extra base hits. He’s not fast enough to make all those extra walks mean more than a 70xbh season in most voters minds
The two of them have been super closely ranked for me over the years, especially since they debuted at the same time. From the end of the 2020-2022 seasons, I would probably say Soto. However, after 2023, I would probably rank Acuña a bit ahead of him in the long term.

His agent, Scott Boras is pretty notorious for wanting his players to hit free agency. I’m guessing since the day he became Soto’s agent he’s been adamant that he goes to free agency no matter what the situation.
I agree to a certain point about a guy swinging at everything but if you’re telling me you don’t think a team of Vlad Sr’s wouldn’t be the best team to watch you’re fooling yourself.
As a Mariners fan, i'd give my left nut and pay more taxes if we could sign Soto in the offseason... (Not gonna happen because ownership is cheap but a man can dream)

I think it's such a double standard that pitchers can absolutely lose their $h!t when they get a big strikeout or pitch out of a tough jam and it's just them being fired up and fierce competitors. However, when non-pitchers pimp homeruns or instances like the Soto shuffle (and he stopped doing the ball-sack grab) it's showing up the pitcher or not respecting the game. Where do people get this arbitrary BS from?!?!?!
If I am the pitcher, I will walk Soto all the time he is at the plate. Why? Cause his existense just irritates me without reason, I don't want to lose to irritation on facing him and seing that butt shake😂😂😂
