This week we're back in Juba, South Sudan. South Sudan is a country that is not frequently visited, and even less seldom filmed. I know that before I went to South Sudan, I was curious what life looked like. Well, I always bring my cameras with me, and managed to get some aerial video as well as street scenes when traveling around the city. If you're curious what Juba, South Sudan is like, check out this video.
I have plenty of video from all my travels available for licensing at my gallery on Pond5 at www.pond5.com/artist/wollwerth
As usual, all music is by Kai Engel. Check him out at www.kai-engel.com

south sudan has the potential to become well developed nation the citzens will need good education and more money and have better president than the one they have now so they can have good management for the country

You are totally correct. South Sudan has so much potential. I saw some progress when I visited this time. Unfortunately none of it was coming from the government.

The sad thing is that south sudan had a potential to be a spectacular modern country, but they wasted it all on endless war & probably corruption. So all the fight that their founders fought for is totally wasted. Let's hope that the next generation will work for the good of the country.

Brother, these people come with a camera and showcase poverty of our continent to embarrass us in front of the world. They are not here for anything positive, for centuries they have only Brought negativity to the continent. Don’t be a fool and think they are here for good and if you see one of them with a camera they should be met with hostility.

I had expected that you take us through the airport (giving account of first impression), drive-thru the down town, administrative /residential areas, highlighting the major streets, buildings and monuments (if any) ….touching on the good, ugly and bad ….the slums and recent development in term of infrastructure since independence. What I can see are the same snapshots to emphasize/ reinforce held narratives / perceptions. Shame.

Much as I would have liked to do a comprehensive tour of Juba, filming in Juba is very tenuous. Police and military presence is everywhere, and if you even think about taking a camera out, even a phone camera, in the airport, they will arrest you. So I shot what I could in the time I was there. I can tell you that there have been some infrastructure improvements in the past few years. More roads are paved, the Juba-Bor highway is a huge improvement, and some good hotels have gone up.
