I know Jubei-chan has bad rating in MAL.. But, still, this anime has a place in my heart.. This theme, I always love it since first time I heard it as a kid..
I like this anime a lot. And for a longest time I didn't know why. Everything about this anime was cliche as hell and appeared to be poorly made. But only recently I understood just how genius this anime really is. Everything was made just right, Comedy, battles, transmitting of feelings, it all blends perfectly together! All the while saying a bare minimum of what's needed.
How is it cliche? It's the only anime which has this concept and character design is very good nothing similar to this and this also an old anime, pretty ahead for it's time
The story is sadly generic and not as good but the battle and animation are top notch and ahead of it's time, even compared to the most popular anime nowadays. Most of all Jubei's fights were mostly silent, that's the beauty of it, no uselessly listening or speaking to your enemy first before action.

It really is. I watched this anime when I was like 10 years old and don't remember any of it apart from the fact that she transforms, but I still remember and come to listen to this song every year or so. Still excellent.

ah my childhood haven't watched this since i was 11 with old school comast cast on demand cutting edge Anime Network i remember it all UFO Valkyrie, Jyu Oh Sei, My-Hime, Withchblade, Aquarion, Samurai Real Bout Highschool girl and etc.
I can't forget this music because it's always play in my head every time jubei Chan playing on screen I love to see many time repeat by repeating still it didn't get me bored at all maybe I already put all of my heart into this
lol i finally finished watching this anime series 1&2 this week:) i saw the trailer of jubei chan in 1 of my 90 anime(i think the trailer was in my collection anime title call "vampire princess miyu") back in 2004 or 2005. idk y took me so long but yeah i finally decide to watch it and it was a great anime. can't believe that it took me almost 8-10 years just to finish this anime lol. i couldn't remembered the title of this anime because i lost my other anime that has this anime as trailer. i was lucky enough to find this anime again with just the thought of ninja or samurai in mind lol and of course, the unforgettable lovely eye patch. 1 of my favorite anime and has many great songs too. go jubei chan....love ya...jubei forever!

This anime was a treat to watch and I loved it. The comedy felt stale at first, but it got noticeably better. The sword fights were lackluster, but that is probably not why you chose this anime. You knew right off the start that it would be a comedy after you found out whom the successor to that swordsmen was. I do feel bad for those that judged it too soon. Her reactions were also great. I can not tell you how many times she said "huh" every time the character opened her mouth. That voice actor was a freaking professional at reactions. It almost felt like a real life school girl was reacting to most of it. She even matched her age flawlessly with her short attention span. No one could do the voice of that girl better than Melanie Risdon. She was just too dang good. But, please, do not watch its sequel. Yes, there is a sequel to this incredible anime. Unfortunately, it takes everything that made the first one good...and ruins it. Comedy is extremely stale, and does not progress well. Oh, and they replaced every voice actor except for Jubei and Sai. You will cringe a lot and it is not worth your time unless you are a hardcore fan. Of course, being one myself, I had to finish it. But, it was bad.
Medachod Another thing I don't understand is why kill Koinosuke and make Shiro less of a knight in shining armor and instead joins the comic relief squad? I just don't get it. Now I'm just as confused as Jiru. And Jiru especially, she went through a reverse character development while Sai and Mikage maintained strong character from last season and improved till then. And the feeling of disappointment when the narrator at the end of the last episodes admitting the production team struggling with the scriptwriting and the dozens of scenes they deleted which tells a lot about how creatively drained they were. They should've put more time into it because a 3-way conflict was too ambitious and they overcomplicated things after the climax.

Thats kind of Odd because Jubei Chan 2 Jubei vs Freesia has been considered to be one of the best sword fights in anime and is in like every montage lol. It might be the music however though that makes it more hyper then it actually was lol I could be wrong lol.

Happy, sad, broken i always comeback its already 12 year i still remember i watch this anime when i was only 14 year old. And now i was 26 year old still listen to this.
2018.. My first time ever watch this anime because I coincidentally play anime song in RU-vid then this music comes out along the track, this theme is a real kickass.. Back then I'll just ignore it since I see it as not so interesting anime but still catch a little memory about some anime sound I ever heard from TV and it was this music then.. But personally, I thought this anime was a real serious, since this music has a strong theme and the looks of transformed Jiyu(Jubei) was a real serious and the swordplay isn't cheap either with clash and clang, jump, somersault, etc.. Very like it.. I'm still at Ep.11 of Season 1 today.. But honestly, I still hardly accept the fact that this anime is a comedy because of this cool theme, this theme is even suitable for a far more serious samurai or ninja anime.. :(
Wait there is a 2nd Season. O.O Now that really surprised me, would never have expected that, Might watch it then eventually as I watched the first, But for now it will wait I already have a massive que of anime to watch.
Mmh, I decided to watch the anime based on hearing this song. Was sorely disappointed when the anime wasn't nearly as serious as this song'd make you expect. Still worth watching, though.
i prefer the first series of jubei chan. the second series has a good plot but not as convincing as the first, and they exaggerated the humour aspect of the anime too far out into just weirdness. not having konosuke also killed it for me. jubei chan secret of the lovely eyepatch ftw!

This anime was so funny, personally I think it was cheesy and could of been better but was still a good anime and fun to watch. Personally tho what I loved the most is this theme its so awesome.
