How did Christianity emerge, and why did it split from Judaism to become a religion of its own? In this class we explore the true origins of Christianity, and explain the Jewish position on Jesus. Also discussed is the purpose of Christianity in world history, and some rabbinic perspectives on the religion.

Yeah. He dropped the ball on and didn’t mention the Arabic translation of Josephus which omits the Christian interpolations, doesn’t mention the Jerusalem community moving to Pella, the Ebionites, or Nazarenes and their later influences on the development of Islam, but that’s why people need to take notes and do their own research.

1-Jesus/Yeshua was a Jew but was not the Jewish Messiah due to a myriad amount of reasons (e.g., Ezekiel 46-that Prince is The Messiah so read what he does which is irreconcilable with the Christian narrative). 2-The Jewish Messiah was never suppose to die for sins (breaking of commandments 1 John 3:4) and even if he did (which it isn’t) those commandments belonged to the Israelites under the covenant made at Mt. Sinai NOT the gentiles. 3-If you have decided to worship the God of The Jews by worshipping a “”Jewish” Christ then you should ask them how to worship their God (Matt 23:1-3).

He thought the end was near; he thought he was the promised Messiah. He promised his followers that some of them would not see death under him in the onset of the Messianic Age. But he was crucified and the Messianic Age in which his followers would not see death did not occur: ...''there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom" (Matthew 16:28). They are all dead now, they are not here. Show us one that survived to prove the truth of this prophecy. You can't, because it did not happen. This was a failed prophecy. How can you respond to this? If you say where they are now is a Kingdown 'not of this world' they would have had to die to get to that place that is 'not of this world' in a metaphysical way somehow. And this is not what Jesus meant as it makes no sense (he did not say you shall die and be reborn). He said they would not die and he really meant it, but they did... The more likely explanation is that the kingdom he meant is the World to Come that is promised in the Tanakh (which he as a Jew would have been very familar with). But if the World to Come were actually what we are actually living in right now (which we would if he was the Messiah), things would be a lot different from what they are, wouldn't they? See through this, wake up and smell the coffee. Before it's too late. (The notion of an afterlife was not known to Jews of his time), it was adopted a few hundred years later under the influence of Greco-Roman culture. The prophets which allegedly 'predicted' Jesus as the Messiah according to Christian 'mythology' in fact' knew nothing about it. Do some research. Travel back in time.

I was brought up Christian but never really felt connected to Christianity and it's overall myriad of beliefs about **That Man**. But HaShem is Great and saw the longing of my heart to know the Truth and sent me a teacher, an elderly neighbor who showed me the Torah for the first time. He showed me the Testimony of Yehoshua, ( which I called "Jesus" ) in Yoseph son of Yacov. He was a Christian also but loved the Old Testament and particularly the Torah. It was thru this man I discovered the real Yehoshua of Nazareth. Baruch H"S. Thank you… again. I have had nearly all the questions I needed answers to answered in the one month I have of listened to your teachings. I am born into a Christian home and a devout Christian but do not dedicate myself to “Church Doctrine” nor popular present day Christian beliefs…. This is hard to do. We Christians also need community (church) but as you stated- so many beliefs and teachings are simply nonsensical AND mythological. I began to study Judaism, listening to Rabbi’s through RU-vid. I accepted Astronomy/Astrology as taught through Kabbalah/mystic teachings. This is something I have kept to myself for 15 years. I struggled so much being “caught” between accepting Jesus as Messiah and Savior and the complete logic of Judaism. I’m not a born Jew. I live over an hour from a Jewish Synagogue and HOW do we convert if we want to? I spoke with a Rabbi via phone 15 years ago and he eluded to and demonstrated that converting is hard and to be discouraged. Today- you answered a deeply important question for me. Christianity is acceptable under certain circumstances. That is a relief and attainable if the Christian is humble, would the word Bitul be appropriate for what I’m expressing. I have been trying to understand and learn the perfect meaning of this word. I can not thank you enough for making your knowledge public.❤

In regard to Jesus, there are mentions of Rabbinic decrees, way before the Mishna was written. Hanukkah is mention as the "Feast of Dedication." The four cups of wine at the Passover Seder are mentioned. The prohibition of healing on Shabbat is contested. Washing hands before bread, Jesus refused to do, because he said they are teaching the laws of men as the law of G-d. It's strange that he would have four cups of wine, but refuse to wash hands? So what did Jesus believe? I think the Christians never worried about it, because they stopped doing Mitzvot very early. With Jesus, Mitzvah observance was always an issue.

Profesor Shlomo Pines says that indeed Josephus mentioned Jesus. An Arab Version of the Testimonium Flavianum and Its Implications (Jerusalem, 1971): “At this time there was a wise man who was called Jesus. And his conduct was good, and he was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and from the other nations were his disciples. Pilate condemned him to crucifixion and to die. And those who had made their disciples did not forsake him. They disclosed that they had been appeared three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive. They therefore believed that he was perhaps the Messiah, about whom the prophets had told wonders. The sect of Christians called by his name has not disappeared until the day of today". (Agapius [Melkite Bishop of Hieropolis, 10th century], Mahbub Qustanin) According to Pines, Agapius's version was based on the version Syriac Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius of Caesarea IV CE).

Also I believe all the mitzvots that apply to Israel is for the world as well except obvious things like laws for levites and such.. I know we disagree on this and that’s ok. To me it seems like the scriptures tell the world to join with Israel. To be a people dedicated to God. I disagree with your take on Paul though. I honestly don’t know what to think of him. Interesting. I reckon some of your assertion of the contradiction doesnt really hold water though. In the example of the 4 gospels, they wrote for what marked them. John for example was Jesus' disciples & he wrote other letters aside of the gospel according to John. Peter even though he didnt write any of the gospel, Mark, his nephew wrote based on Peter s account. And Peter wrote 1&2 Peter. Also your understanding of the preaching of Jesus shared to non jews was 1st done by Peter to this roman commander & his family, which fulfilled what Jesus told of Peter being the one to whom the key to open the Kingdom of God was given. Thereafter, Paul & Barnabas were the main persons who preached to the gentiles. Another thing, early christians didnt hate jews. But over time, w the roman empire made it a state religion, from being persecuted, they welcomed the faith & perverted it to mix w their previous pagan belief. There re so many that I can discuss w you. On your outlook & understanding of Jesus' teaching and some of His rather confusing reprimand or words. I hope you ll get the chance to meet a messianic jew who understands the Scripture🙏🏽👌🏽🙏🏽

I really do enjoy listening to you, good sir. It's been difficult with this one because I am a Christian, not a Catholic. But i wanted to know why Jewish people feel the way you do about Christians, so I listened. I love the Old Testament, what you call the Tenakh. I read it more than the New Testament, actually. So I am wondering, how do you explain Isaiah 53 and Zechariah 12:10? Your prophets describe Jesus Christ as "the one they pierced." And, "he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded." I dont intend on changing your mind. God opened my heart to understanding. He gave me the desire to know him when he showed me that I was a sinner and he died for me. His teachings are hard... old and new... for he came to fulfill the law... not change it. He makes life worth living. He convinced me he is real and really did live and die and rise again. No one can convince me otherwise.
@EfraimPalvanov
@EfraimPalvanov 7 месяцев назад
Glad you like the content, thank you. Our prophets certainly did not describe Jesus as "the one they pierced". Zechariah 12 is not referring to Jesus at all. That chapter and the ones that follow are speaking about a future End of Days war. Zechariah 12:8-9 speaks of a coalition of nations invading Israel and God protecting all of Jerusalem's inhabitants in this war. Later, we read about the Mount of Olives splitting in half, a new great river emerging from Jerusalem, etc. Obviously none of this happened in the time of Jesus. He did not fulfil the descriptions or requirements of our prophets. Ok so in my ignorance I will say this, putting your faith in a man, let’s say the Jewish messiah isn’t it the same or maybe worst than putting my faith in the son of God? The Lord says that we should not trust man. We should only trust him ,the lord, meaning God the all mighty. There are many people in the Bible, but one of my favorites will always be King David. In his earlier years his trust “faith” was always placed on God. And so he won his battles. Of course power corrupts, but his heart was pleasing to the Lord in a way that the messiah would come from his lineage. I mention David because he didn’t trust a man. Now, having said that, when really young about 8 years old, I had a dream about Jesus. My family wasn’t religious like that. My grandma was always talking about the virgen Mary ( I don’t worship Mary, but respect her) but besides that no one was a believer. Later when 17 went to a Christian church and I saw many things but, I don’t trust easily, so I told Jesus: I will make a decision when I have a close encounter with you” And so it happened. But those are childish things aren’t they ? In my years I have tried to leave his side about 3 times. But what do you know, he has gone to get me every single time. I have no place to run but to him. Because I know I am his. The only thing this wonderful lecture doesn’t speak about is the breath of God, his Holy Spirit. He is the one that day by day transforms me and connects me. He is the one that cleans my thoughts. And guides my ways and fills me with joy when times are bad. The story about the king and the court, was the Christian’s there filled with the Holy Spirit? I don’t believe they were, otherwise they wouldn’t have done that to him. So, I am skeptic of politics and Christianity mixed together. But I might be naive, and I prefer to stay that way. Again, I love this channel. May God bless you always.

Question for consideration: What is Isaiah 53 all about? How about Psalm 22?
@sharonraffanti3632
@sharonraffanti3632 3 месяца назад
7MaryD7 perhaps if you read the whole book of Isaiah? The problem is that the Catholic bishops translated the Tanakh into Greek, changing and even inventing words to suit the Christian narrative. Then they translate all Christian bibles from that erroneous Septuagint. E.g.: 1, Isa 53. The word the in the original Hebrew Scriptures for the one to have a son is "alma" and the son was born to Isaiah's wife. It was his son. The bishops replaced "alma", meaning young woman, with "betullah", meaning virgin. In other words, what you think it says in Isaiah 53 is not accurate. 2. Psalm 22 is another place where they used a different word. In the Christian concordance, the original word that they say is "pierced", is actually "Ka'ari" which means "like a lion". The Christian translators say it is "karah", which means "cut". These are two examples of deceptive texts. PS! I have a Christian Bible, a Hebrew Tanakh and Psalms, a Hebrew Lexicon, a Hebrew dictionary and e-Sword with the concordance, on my computer. I have personally checked this out.

And furthermore, why would you try to discredit the New Testament with “it was written by men way after Jesus”?Unbelievers could also use the same question for the old testament/Torah. Was it not written by men? In turn you invalidate you’re ignorant point. Jesus is son of God. The zealous jews could not accept that Jesus was and is whom he said he was, but not only did he say it he showed his power. The zealots could not believe because they loved more then God they’re money, power and position. The Pharisees could only see in a materialistic sense. They expected upon the arrival of God for him to bring more materialistic riches, and to fix all the affairs on earth within their mind, scope, and not the mind or the plans of God. They forget that God‘s ways are not our ways and gods thoughts are not our thoughts. To believe in Christ Jesus you need of the holy spirit to have faith. God promised to make all things new, and to restore mankind. This earth is reserved for judgment to fire. Gods judgment is clear, and God’s judgment is not the way we think God will judge. For God is not a fallible man, a sinful man, such as we all are. His ways are perfect . I tell you as Jesus said to the Pharisees then” God made the sabbath for man, not man for the sabbath “. Nicodemus was told by Jesus “ you must be reborn of spirit and water”

The authenticity of the Torah/Old Testament is not in question here. You and I both agree that the Torah is true. The New Testament cannot exist without the Old. What we disagree on is the New Testament. That's where the burden of proof lies.

I agree that the spirit of God inspired the Holy scriptures. Seeing how the Old Testament is in no question according to both of us. Please read the prophecy of Yashua in the book of the Old Testament in Isaiah 53. 53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. That my friend is speaking of my Messiah JESUS Son of God whom is risen from the dead and is returning.

Respectfully, I disagree that Paul established a "shortcut" for the salvation of the gentiles. Rather, he recalled that Jews would be a blessing to the nations; and, that blessing, knowledge of the one true G-d, would be accomplished through Jesus. His ministry and experience led him to understand that circumcision and the complicated nature of the Law was going to be "a stumbling block" to the conversion of pagan gentiles. In his mind, it was more important to get the Gentiles "on board" with one true G-d than to require adherence to the Law. He asserted that Gentiles were at least responsible for upholding the covenant with Noah, and Peter eventually agreed. Jesus himself said not one "yot or tittle" of the law would fall away until everything was accomplished. What is "everything?" I don't know.

Great channel my dear Jewish Brother. I enjoyed your two videos aboyt Third Rome, Russia and Magog. I am a born again christian from Venezuela always praying for the Jews to come to aknowledge that Jesus was and IS The Jewish Messhiach you all have been waiting for. We are fully convinced you rejected Him wrongly and pray for that to be fixed at the end of The Time of Jacob's Trouble which will be the 70th week of Daniel (Dan 9:27) knows by us as The Tribulation revealed to John in Revelation. “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.” (Daniel 9:25) This verse gives us the key to the timing of the coming of the Messiah. Yeshua, the Anointed One, fulfilled this timing perfectly when He was born of a virgin (almah in Hebrew, see Isaiah 7:14) and mikvahed (baptized) by His cousin Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptist). The same Angel Gabriel who announced to Daniel the timing of Messiah’s arrival also participated in its fulfillment when he announced to Miriam (Mary) that she was to give birth to the Holy One of Israel (Luke 1:26-33). With the birth of Yeshua, the following Biblical prophecies were fulfilled: * Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14-Isaiah prophesied that a virgin or pure young woman (almah) will give birth to the Promised One. Fulfilled: Luke 1:26-31. (Yes, I know you don't read The New Testament but I indicate it so you can find the fulfillment) * Prophecy: Isaiah 9:6-Isaiah prophesied that Messiah Yeshua would come as a baby; Yeshua is described by several names-“Wonderful, Counselor,” “The mighty God,” “The everlasting Father,” “The Prince of Peace.” Fulfilled: Luke 2:1-20. * Prophecy: Numbers 24:17-Balaam predicts that the Messiah will descend from the house of Jacob-“I see him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the people of Sheth.” Fulfilled: Matthew 1:2-16. * Prophecy: Isaiah 9:7-The Messiah shall be of the house of David. Yosef (Joseph) was of the line of David, as was Miriam (Mary). Fulfilled: Luke 3:23-38 tracks Yeshua’s lineage on Joseph’s side; Matthew 1:1-16 tracks Miriam’s (Mary) side. * Prophecy: Micah 5:2-Micah prophesied that Yeshua would be born in Bethlehem. Fulfilled: Luke 2:4-7. * Prophecy: Genesis 49:10-He would be a member of the tribe of Judah-“The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between His feet, until tribute comes to Him; and to Him shall be the obedience of the peoples.” Fulfilled: Matthew 1:2. * Prophecy: Malachi 3:1-Yeshua would enter the Temple. This is important because no one would be able to enter the Temple again after it was destroyed in AD 70, about 40 years after Yeshua’s death. Fulfilled: Luke 2:25-27, tells us that Yeshua was brought as an infant to the Temple to be consecrated, and Simeon is there waiting His arrival. And daily, Yeshua taught at the Temple when He was in Jerusalem. (Luke 19:47) * Prophecy: The Messiah will end up in Egypt “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son” (Hosea 11:1). Fulfillment: “So he [Joseph] got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son'” (Matthew 2:14-15). * Prophecy: The Messiah will be humbled in order to serve mankind “You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet” (Psalm 8:5-6) Fulfillment: “It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified: ‘What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.’ “In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:5-9). * Prophecy: Jesus would become the perfect sacrifice “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire- but my ears you have opened- burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come- it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:6-8). Fulfillment: “Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: ‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.’ “Then I said, ‘Here I am-it is written about me in the scroll- I have come to do your will, my God.’” “First he said, ‘Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them’-though they were offered in accordance with the law. Then he said, ‘Here I am, I have come to do your will.’ He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:5-10). * Prophecy: The Messhiach would preach righteousness to Israel “I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know” (Psalm 40:9). Fulfillment: “From that time on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near'” (Matthew 4:17). * Prophecy: He would teach in parables “My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old” (Psalm 78:1-2) Fulfillment: “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: ‘I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world'” (Matthew 13:34-35). * Prophecy: His parables would fall on deaf ears. “He said, ‘Go and tell this people: “Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed”‘” (Isaiah 6:9-10). Fulfillment: “This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ‘”You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them”‘” (Matthew 13:13-15). * Prophecy: The Messiah would be a stone that causes people to stumble “He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare” (Isaiah 8:14). Fulfillment: “Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’ and, ‘A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.’ “They stumble because they disobey the message-which is also what they were destined for” (1 Peter 2:7-8).

* Prophecy: His ministry would begin in Galilee “Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan- The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:1-2). Fulfillment: “When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali-to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: ‘Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles- the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.’ “From that time on Jesus began to preach, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near'” (Matthew 4:12-17). * Prophecy: He would draw the Gentiles to himself “In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious” (Isaiah 11:10). Fulfillment: “Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, ‘See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!’ “Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘we would like to see Jesus'” (John 12:18-21). * Prophecy: The Messiah would be preceded by a forerunner “A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain'” (Isaiah 40:3-4). Fulfillment: “John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, ‘I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, “Make straight the way for the Lord”‘ (John 1:23). * Prophecy: Jesus will be a gentle redeemer of the Gentiles “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope” (Isaiah 42:1-4). Fulfillment: “Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill. He warned them not to tell others about him. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope.'” (Matthew 12:15-21). * Prophecy: Jesus would be despised and rejected “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem” (Isaiah 53:3). Fulfillment: “All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff” (Luke 4:28-29). * Prophecy: Jerusalem will rejoice as the Messiah comes to her upon a donkey “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). Fulfillment: “A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ (Baruc Haba B'shem Adonai) ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’ “When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, ‘Who is this?'” (Matthew 21:8-10) * Prophecy: He will be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver “I told them, ‘If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.’ So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. “And the Lord said to me, ‘Throw it to the potter’-the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord” (Zechariah 11:12-13). Fulfillment: “The chief priests picked up the coins and said, ‘It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.’ So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: ‘They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me'” (Matthew 27:6-10). As to the The hebrew text (Masoretic), the most ancient original copy of it is the Leningrad Codex dating almost 1,000 DC, while the Septuagint of which we DO HAVE ORIGINALS, dates 300 - 200 BC. So as we christians know very well the History of the Sanhedrin, The Pharisees and their "job-role"descendants, the "sages" and the Rabbies, I prefer to rely on the Septuagint rather than copies from copies from copies manipulated by the same ones who crucified The Messiah and paid the roman soldiers to lie saying that the Apostles stole His Sacred Body while in the reality He Resurrected as promised. So, in The Septuagint you read for Virgin: Septuagint: Strong 3933 parthenos παρθένος VIRGIN Noun, Nominative Singular Feminine And STILL, As for the Masoretic you find: Masoretic: Strong 5959 woman, a VIRGIN Original Word: עַלְמָה Part of Speech: Noun Feminine Transliteration: almah Phonetic Spelling: (al-maw') Definition: a young woman, a VIRGIN Word Origin fem. of elem Definition a young woman, a VIRGIN. I was raised Roman Catholic and left it at 13. I started rejecting some of the ideas shared by both Jews and Christians at the age of seven. But indoctrination is a powerful thing. The Greco-Roman overlays on the historical figure of the teacher, 'Jesus' didn't peel away until this year. But I do believe he existed. And if you believe Saul of Tarsus existed and his letters plus the writings attributed to Luke are real, then so must you. Saul reported meeting with the following that still survived after his crucifixion as you noted in your use of some of his writing to talk about the continuing Roman Empire. I agree it exists in a mutated form. I've come to accept Jesus as a well-accomplished desert mystic. His message of love doesn't lose any of its validity when the Greek mythological overlay is peeled back.

Insightful lecture. It's true there's still so much strife between Christianity and Judaism, although I'd argue if the Jews accept Jesus as the Messiah, everyone would be brought to the truth, which is somewhere in the middle (in the matter of Trinity and Mosaic Laws). Christianity is the sole religion that spreads the Torah throughout all the world. If the Jews become the followers of Christ, and gain a substantial number among them, then Jews and Christians can sort out disagreements regarding doctrines, and peace might would already happen. (And I don't want anything hateful happens to the Jews, it's just I'm trying to see the bigger picture of God's plan here.)

The first verse in Isaiah states that he prophesied during "the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah." Isaiah was active over a long period of time, spanning four kings, Hezekiah being the last. Isaiah gave the prophecies about Hezekiah before Hezekiah was born. Judah was not taken into captivity during the reign of Hezekiah, but much later.

@EfraimPalvanov I'm at the stage where I'm fascinated by scripture ... like my late father was. The prophesy in Isaiah 7, that speaks of the virgin (young woman) birth of a son, call him Emmanuel, is a prophesy about Hezekiah? ‭This not a Messianic prophesy? Isaiah 7:14-17 KJV‬ [14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. [15] Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. [16] For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. [17] The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria. bible.com/bible/1/isa.7.14-17.KJV

Yeah, Paul was clearly a "false teacher." If you look up Online the "Benjamin Wolf Prophecy," Paul seems to fit this prophecy first spoken of in the Book of Genesis. Paul said, "he was from the Tribe of Benjamin." And as the prophecy goes, "Benjamin would be a wolf among the sheep who would DIVIDE the flock." (That is loosely paraphrased, but you get the idea), and isn't that what Paul effectively accomplished within the people? There are Christians who DO believe "we must follow Torah according to the words of Jesus," and there are those Christians today who really "follow Paul," and believe "anything goes," and we do NOT have to keep the Commandments. I believe the Apostle Paul fulfilled that prophecy. Look it up Online; it's an interesting read. Shalom.

Isaiah 9: 6-7 can be seen clearly in the Gospel of John. God the Father, God the Son (Prince of peace) & God the Holy Spirit (Wonderful Counselor). Jesus promised His disciples & those who ll believe in Him, that He ll give them the Holy Spirit as their Helper, Counselor & Comforter.
@ralphowen3367

Jesus says in John 14:18 that he is himself that Comforter that would come to the disciples and not leave them comfortless. There is the mention of God the Father in the scriptures, but not God the Holy Spirit or God the Son. They are rather termed the Holy Spirit of God and the Son of God. The son is not eternal--that is a trinitarian innovation of the 4th century. The terms Holy Ghost and son of God are comprehended in the term Father God.

History proves, those so called disciples were NOT the writers of those gospels that you read today, and in fact, it was so much later, that the original so called disciples probably were dead already by the time those gospels were written. In fact, it is proven that the writings of the Apostle Paul CAME BEFORE the gospels of Jesus Also, Jesus's so called disciples were most likely ILLITERATE, and would not have been able to read and write. The NT is clearly a "Roman fabrication" written by the political leaders of the day in order to ATTACK the Jews for their beliefs. Jews were gaining converts rapidly, and something had to be done in order to STOP THEM.

Thank you for your presentation. Although I do not agree with the conclusion, there were some historical tid-bits that I thought were interesting. I believe that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah of Israel, just wanted to get that out in front. One a couple of points about Jesus, one is that He had to teach the Law and He made it clear that He was there to fulfill what some are calling today Mashiach Ben Joseph, there are very good Messianic Jewish insights into this and many other topics. As far as Jesus deity, there are also many places in the Torah that talk about God coming in human form, the first being when Abraham ate with Him and His companions before the story of Sodom. So God coming in human form is not a stretch and if He wanted to do that according to the Torah then I suppose He can. Last, what Jesus was ushering in was a New Covenant which was prophesied by the prophets, many talking about taking sin away from Israel. This is what Paul was elaborating on. Anyway, thanks for the lecture. Shalom.

Well, for one, Josephus mentions Hillel and Shammai (using their Hellenized names). Josephus died around 100 CE. Also, the New Testament mentions Gamliel (the teacher of Paul), who was Hillel's grandson. By the way, I can make the same argument for the New Testament, which wasn't redacted and canonized until the 4th century - so how do you know Jesus actually said any of those things? So to was the of the earliest believers in Yeshua. The first followers kept Torah and the mitzvah. Over the next 2 centuries as more gentiles accepted that Yeshua was the Messiah, they started bringing in their pagan ideas. Because of the stong dislike by Jewish religious leaders and the hatred by the pagan Gentile world things began to change. Then came the council of Nicean and Rome took over , her daughters protested and formed other sects, they no longer believed in Shema, they came up with the Trinity, changed Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. The list can go on and on.. Netzarim study Torah , Keep the Sabbath , Netzarim don't consider themselves Christians Yeshua Judaism.

At the seder dinner on Pesach, you know why you're dipping your egg in salty water, you know why you lean to the left on a cushion. In Catholicism, you aren't told why you recite the Hail Mary 15 times in a row after having Confession. Ask a Christian to explain the significance of the Holy Trinity, the wouldn't have a clue. Ask a Jew the significance of Shabbat, they can write an essay on it.

Only good thing I could say about Christianity, and I sort of do this still is the idea that you can "keep Shabbat everyday." Translated, if Shabbat is a Day of the week to take time out, and "connect with Hashem," I like to do this DAILY. I do work on the other days of the week, but I like to "LIVE" as if Shabbat has already come, and I suppose that is one idea I got from NT. Other Jews might say something similar in their approach to their connection to Hashem, but NT is where I first came to that understanding. Christianity has a few good teachings, but as the Rabbis teach......most of those concepts are "NOT NEW," and can be found in the Torah.
