I have the 98 live meltdown CD which is the same as this only thing is I wish that they released this as a live DVD back in 98 but I guess this is close as you can get to a pro shot video thanks for posting
I complain about getting out of bed at 51 and then I see Glenn Tipton. I mean the playing, the swagger and the confidence makes him just incredibly charismatic. Glenn forever!
Watching this now in 2024 and it's testament to how Glenn Tipton was as a performer. Even with Halford absent, KK, Glenn, Ian and Scott are firing on all cylinders here. And Ripper does a damn fine job. Priest history. Not to be dismissed.
I have to say, that I was sick when Rob left but what him leaving did was allow me to see The Metal God with Fight at the Stone Pony and this show with Ripper who was awesome (minus that little English accent that would come through from Rob). After 15yrs of big arena shows were even in the front row you are quit a bit away to get to see them in these small clubs dam if was fucking brutal.
Yeah Iron Maiden played in an 800 club in Budapest in 1998, they underestimated a little how excited the fans were even if Dickinson was not around at the time.
ghostdancer2302 I agree Owens was a really good replacement when Halford left the band, but I think Ralf Scheepers, from German band Primal Fear, also would be a nice choice.
Gabriel Damaceno I agree with you that Ralph Scheepers would have done a great job. It did work out for the best though. Kai Hansen took over singing lead vocals for Gamma Ray and Ralph started Primal Fear with Matt Sinner and have had many great albums in the 20 years they have been together and Ralph's voice is still amazing.
I enjoy watching Glenn's headbanging and overall stage moves he did during that show. I have always admired his truly unique style. He is definitely one of a kind. It was painful to watch my favorite guitarist's last performances where he hardly moved. Wish he could overcome everything he is going through. No surrender!
Same dude, i consider myself to be an above average rock/metal guitarist. that said, I do struggle with Glenn's precision, feeling and absolute class at what he accomplished. BTROD, still trying to nail that beauty solo, time and note perfect! Only been at it 35 years ffs! The Metal God, Glenn Tipton 💔💙💙💙
There is a very real possibility that the amount of head banging he did day after day on tour for over 40 years contributed to his issues with Parkinson’s. Sad but very possibly the case.
Met him twice while in Judas Priest 2005 at priest show Cleveland . & 2 months ago w/KK Priest. Humble pleasant friendly. Stood around front door of venue shaking hands taking pics & being cool. So..
@@richardjohnson7880 Yeah I'm sure he has his moments after he can't complain about the turn-out or when he's not kissing on LAGuns and promoting other ridiculous stuff. He said not to go if you don't like the "same every single night" setlist. If you like to get drunk and throw your money away Ripper and Dave Mustaine are easy to like. Judas Priest at least has some sense in their setlist but all their shows get scalped .
In the backbone KK is way more important . And Jugulator have more kK in it . Too heavy for natural Glenn style. And ruined in ideas because he put all in his solos albums . . KK is as Good , But more Avant gard . Glenn is more seen as the band leader because of that prima donna politics with Jaynr .
@@Nissardpertugiu Don't get me wrong - I love them as a duo. I know that Glenn have had a favorable releation with the management. He just took the responsibility for the band after the vocalist swap, something I doubt KK would be able to do.
With both kk and Glenn you could say its, more Priest than the current tour. I saw this as a halford fanatic and who didn't care for the ripper albums but as a live vocalist he nails it.
I was the drummer in he opening band, Moon Dog Mane with Frank Hannon of Tesla. This was our last show with them in NYC. They treated us SO GOOD that night after the show at a little Irish bar in NYC. Truly one of the best times of my life!! God Bless!!
Holy good goddamn, what a show! New blood, Scott, Ripper, Richie, each in time have contributed and helped the Priest carry on. Andy is carrying the torch for Glen momentarily, bottom line, lineup changes happen but the heart of the band beats strong!
Glenn wrote and produced this album! Jugulator was a GREAT Album and tour! And then you could go see Rob Halford,I think it was the best of both worlds! Even though nothing can beat the original JUDAS PRIEST!!!!!!

Actually it was co produced with KK. Also KK wrote most of the songs, as he says in his book, but they are credited as Tipton/Downing because of the deal they got.
Cristóbal González interesting, KK and Ripper really need to get in a band together! KK & Ripper’s Judas Priest or call it Jugulator or whatever it’d be awesome
Was at this show... it was a little awkward with it not being "The Metal God" but they kick your ass!!! Ripper sounded fucking awesome! One of the best Priest shows i've seen since my first show ever Defenders '84 just missed going to SFV at MSG in '82, buddies of mine went they ripped the seat foam out they said it was like snowing.... oh going to shows in the early '80s was so much fun..... thanks for posting and bring up some really great memories.

What a gem, almost always in focus, exceptionally good audio, such punchy, full-bodied guitar sounds, better than many pro-shot footage. And Glenn is on fire !! God, he's hot. Shame there is no official DVD from this tour, the band's in great form and setlist is wonderful too.
Glenn was such a mad man during the Ripper era. People say it isn't genuine JP, but clearly this style was very much in Glenn all along cuz he looks so into the music, more than I've ever seen with original line up
Jug has a lot of KK ... The underground sound is more up to him than Glenn . Kk made dissident agressor which is the basis of Jugulator kind of stuff . Dow tune This one . You ll realize that is not as far than jug . Its updated .. Both are Heavy but Glenn is more melodic KK is the darker one . Abrasive

This was a great lineup, sometimes I wish they would have continued on this path. Not dissing Rob but this was a time of new energy and power from the band.
OMG, I can't believe you have this!! I was AT THIS SHOW on Halloween 98. Out of the 25 or so times I've seen Priest starting with the Fuel for Life tour in '83, THIS was the best show I've ever seen of theirs. Ripper-fronted Priest is the best. Hands down.
I was at this show! This was the last show of the tour. I was able to meet the entire band behind the theater after, with the exception of Tim, who ran past the fans. Really cool to have found this. Thank you! Can't believe it's been 20 YEARS since this. man.... Also, so weird to hear the Ripper-era sings, like Bloodstained. Haven't listened to either of those albums in over 15 years, probably. May have to revisit them for old time's sake. Burn in Hell was the best song during that era. So much so, I almost wish Rob would do that song now.
Halloween 1998 I was at the opening night of the KISS "Psycho Circus" tour in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. Great show. Thanks for sharing. I really love the Tim Owens era.... JUGULATOR Tour kicked ass.... Demolition has it's moments, it's ok....but the band still kicked ass live.....I just wish Rob would include some of the Tim Owens material in the setlist. I think Rob could do great with "Jugulator", "Burn In Hell", "Hell Is Home" "One On One".... I mean, Bruce Dickinson sing both Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley era songs....why can't Rob Halford include Tim Owens material? Makes no sense.....hell, the Tim Owens album have been out of print and unavailable for many years....that needs to be fixed....
this video is PURE GOLD!thank you so much for uploading this, you're a true believer man! the band musically is on the top of their game..i only wish Ripper was a better showman.dont get me wrong, but with a godlike voice like that he should have every crowd on his fingers. PRIEST FOREVER!
This is a tour I wish I could have been old enough to have seen, just to feel the vibe, just watching its intense & I've seen Priest with Halford numerous times & Halford by himself but I've never seen Ripper live in Any band hes ever been in, the guys a great singer
Jugulator and Demolition period, Yeah!!! Judas Priest, i love EVERY thing you made. No comparison for me. I just admire your constantly renewed inventiveness and enjoy unceasingly delight.
Thx so much for this, saw them earlier that year at the Hammer, one of my fav venues to see the first band I listened to who got me into metal. Ripper was great, and Tipton was amazing!

Great gig, I was there with my kid bro, we had a good time watching Ripper...in the late 70s, I used to see Frank Zappa in NYC every Halloween ..then came Alice Cooper, then JP....Halloween gigs are great.
