@@firbhamming2575 I saw comments on another video where presumably Priest fans were discussing how great the 70s albums were, and someone called this song "filler". I heartily disagree. It ain't metal, but it's Priest, showcasing Rob's voice, and Glenn on the piano.
This is the very last day of being 56yrs old... Laying in my bath listening to my favourite love song of my whole life so far. First heard age 14, four yrs after it's released date of 1977. This will be played as my final song... ✨🩷🕊️🤗
@HEART2HEART-3 Happy birthday 🎂🎉. My 56th was on May 3. I believe our best days are still ahead of us 🙏 Great album 💓 my fave Priest album by far for similar sentimental reasons from high school, etcetera
Halford is such an amazing singer. He could not only sing pure, headbanging heavy metal, but also beautiful, soft ballads. That's how you know you have an amazing vocalist.
This is, as a whole, a fine vocal performance, (to a great song) Dear Seth, but, I must respectfully quibble with you a bit, this in the sense that Halford's crooning, as he attempts in the first part of this song, is not much more than serviceable.
My absolute fave Priest album ever .... listen to it each week ... year...by year ... I guess all those major bands came from Gods Stage .... never again we will find such .... never ......
"Do not despair - mother nature simply rests. A sleep she has well earned." This tune is so good on so many levels. Some of the first sounds to ever hit my ears came from this album.
My ex - husband turned me on to this song when we met in 1995. Its crazy because our son was born in August of 1998. It was rather symbolic. To me, this is one of the most beautiful songs Ive ever heard. I ve listened to it a million times, never get tired of it, and it sounds better every time i hear it. A rock masterpiece.
Last Rose Lryics; Throughout the soft and timeless days of August 'Til now the shadows begin to grow much longer The sunset's fire has deepened blood red I give you this, the last rose of summer A token of my unyielding love So when the winter's mantle stills the earth And all around seems dead and cold This rose reminds you of a time when all was warm and living Do not despair, mother nature simply rests In sleep she has well earned 'Til one day not so very far from now With the opening of the first rose buds I shall return A token of my unyielding love So that when winter's mettle steals the earth And all around seems dead and cold This rose reminds you of a time when all was warm and living The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer In your long shadows The last rose of summer In the sunset The last rose of summer Take this rose that I give you The last rose of summer The last rose of summer Don't worry about the winter The last rose of summer I shall return The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer
That the same band that did this song also did "Screaming for Vengeance" is a testament to the amazing talent that they've always possessed. My favorite metal band, then, now, and always.
This song is a beautiful masterpiece. My husband turned me on to this in 1995. Ironically our son was born 3 years later " in the timeless days of August of 1998. It has so much significance in my life. Just an absolutely beautiful song. You guys rock.
A lifetime of obsession with Judas Priest brought me to this song at the age of 12. It was an epic song at 12 years old and still feels the same when I listen to it at 47. Priest will always and forever be the Pinnacle hands down no argument
Probably my favorite JP track. These guys could write a speed metal song or an Elton John sounding ballad and still be the best at whatever they were doing. What an amazing group.
My favorite rock ballad... Rob Halford has such a powerful and beautiful voice. He began singing as an opera singer. "Throughout the soft and timeless days of August 'Til now the shadows begin to grow much longer The sunset's fire has deepened blood red I give you this, the last rose of summer A token of my unyielding love So when the winter's mantle stills the earth And all around seems dead and cold This rose reminds you of a time when all was warm and living Do not despair, mother nature simply rests In sleep she has well earned 'Til one day not so very far from now With the opening of the first rose buds I shall return A token of my unyielding love So that when winter's mantle steals the earth And all around seems dead and cold This rose reminds you of a time when all was warm and living The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer In your long shadows The last rose of summer In the sunset The last rose of summer Take this rose that I give you The last rose of summer The last rose of summer Don't worry about the winter The last rose of summer I shall return The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer The last rose of summer"
i love Halfords vocals on this. I will always equate this too at the time over 40 years ago I was with a girl named Rose who I liked alot this was in 1981. really liked Rose alot and was heavily into Judas Priest. Spent rhe bulk of the summer after High School with her before I went away to college. song reminds me of her and that summer from my youth
Great pleasure ! Wonderful song! Different bands past in the time, But Judas Priest is standing. And I want to listen them again and again, on and on and on . . .
For me, it's obligatory practice to play it on the last day of August. Drives me nostalgic, casting a certain sadness that the summer's over. And the summer is the fastest to pass.
This usually gets too much hate. It's a great song, just not heavy metal. If you're narrow minded enough that you can't listen to anything but metal, that's on you, not on JP.
This is my favourite song off this album. And I adore metal. Even the Heaviest metal you can find. I think this song alone is better than anything off Rocka Rolla too, personally.
Another Great Tune / Composition by the Master's of the Music Spectrum !!! Thanks JUDAS PRIEST for All the " Ear Candy " over the last 50 + Years of staying the course ! Genius's !!! Carlito 🇺🇸 ♦️
I played this for my wife on our 20th anniversary. She said, "That's such a pretty song for you to pick. Who is it?" When I told her, her jaw literally dropped! This album was my strength through a rough couple of years. All time favorite JP album.
@RobertLansing-mg8kc Several possible responses and questions come to mind. I'll pick 1 of each. If she is getting married in the summer, that would be sublime/exquisite/unforgettable. Or all three. Is she by chance marrying someone whose last name is Summer? Caveat/Disclaimer: The above ideas are based on a possibility that she is getting married anytime in the near or not so near future. If those speculations turn out not to be part of the picture, at least any who read this may get some value out of it.
Beautiful Jesus we patiently await your return. Music holds so many truths, those who seek will find. God speeks through music. As is the shofar the voice of God himself. Hallelujah. Glory be to God, Amen
When this perticular. Album. Came out. My older bro. Was just. Getting. Out of the army. He turned. Me on thees awsome. Memories when here this song. It kicks my ass.
Say, forthwith, forthright, and henceforth, all hail the gloriousness of the this superlatively superior sublime spectacle of a supreme song, henceforth, and futuristically thus then.
Just listened to this again, it still does the business after all these years. Still got it on the Sin after Sin album . Don't play the vinyl so often now., am guilty of letting technology do the work . I'm not getting lazy , just striking a balance. Seasons greetings to all.
Wow. I know words can't even begin to tell today's youth what that means and how it felt. I have similar experiences I can't seem to convey. I guess it's b/c is your own experience....not theirs. .
