Exactally. I'm 53, was a HUGE Priest fan by 84', I actually met Rob after second time seeing them in 86 & he signed my arm....' this is the REAL JUDAS PRIEST. ( A must see: the film " Heavy Metal parking lot" filmed here in MD before the show..i was one of the 75 who got free tickets & backstage pass from a friend of mine getting killed a month before we graduated & JP donated them after his step mom wrote to them. I was a HUGE KK fan like most us young blonde haired 18yo girls were, & DIDN'T get to meet him😤😠!! ( beyond PISSED ) Rest of band minus Rob were at Baltimore club Hammerjacks & we couldn't get a toe in the door of that place. I think the TRUE/BEST era of Priest was 74'- say 93'. I know when Halford left I refused to listen to them & when KK left I was in same boat & don't know 90% of Priest music.....🙄fast forward 36 yrs & I still have all my JP vinyls/collectables & vintage books & won't part with them. WHAT MEMORIES of a long lost time🎼🎼 I still love KK but I don't care for the new released song "Hellfire Thunderbolt" from his band "KK's Priest" just released.😕.I KNOW I'M OLD WHEN 1 of my FAVORITE PREFORMER SOUNDS LIKE "JUST NOISE THAT'S TOO ROWDY"😖🤯. ( LORD please forgive me for writing that...but as I said I'm a CLASSIC era Priest lady!! ) PEACE☮️✌️..Go watch the film mentioned above & tell me what you think....it's a true blast from the past‼️
Gave you a thumbs up for the appreciation of Judas Priest. They are the most classical /heavy metal /refined band ever. No doubt. And an extra thumb for the LOTR connection. And that one's for my old gaffer?!?!?! 🤔
@@Metal_Mary I don't know. They are both great in their own way. This one hits so hard from that bluesy, melodic way, and "unleashed" bowls you over by force.
What I really love about Rob Halford is that his voice isn't just like a screeching harpyie but also very calm and beautiful. An absolute master of his profession!
The nuns pulled him out of choir because they could hear him over everybody else true story. Saw the roc doc on it. He has had that gift since he was like 11
The Metal God at the height of his powers, with those metal-defining riffs. Black Sabbath may have invented heavy metal, but it was Judas Priest who forged that iron into the steel we all recognize as heavy metal to this day.
I agree. I'm a CLASSIC ERA Priest lady who's 53 & the only REAL era for them in my opinion is 74'- say 92'. HUGE FAN by 84' & I know ZERO Ripper era & can't stand KK being gone a decade, so I don't listen to Ritchie's playing of KK's era. ( YUP! I'm a stubborn lady😁)
You should definitely listen to this live! It's great on the "Unleashed In The East" live album. This song is a rare exception where I like the live version better than the studio version.
You do know the story behind Unleashed in the East? It's not a "real" live album. The original sound recording for the live show they did was damaged so they recorded the set list in a studio in one room, 'cause most bandmembers record their parts separately at different times, and added a canned audience track. In a certain way it was a live, dynamic recording but sadly not in front of an audience. Oh, and just in case you have doubts, look it up. It's been well documented over the decades, especially through interviews with either Rob, Glenn, or KK.
@@alexojeda9048 Oh wow, I didn't know that. About 15 years ago, a family friend burned me this CD and did not tell me anything about it. He just wrote "Judas Priest: Unleashed In The East" with a Sharpie pen on the CD and gave it to me. So I don't have the original album cover/booklet, where this info may have been disclosed. He didn't tell me it wasn't actually live, so I just assumed it was. I never watched any interviews with the band members. Thanks for the information. Very interesting!
@@alexojeda9048 I don't give a shit if it was made by elves in a tar pit,it's one of the greatest records ever made. It blows away 95% of studio albums, and 99% of live albums.
@@alexojeda9048 Well Alex I could tell you that I've seen Priest LIVE several times and back when they were younger they were The SHIT. ALBUM AFTER ALBUM. They Turned all the way up !!!! And that was the way we listen to it too. ALL THE WAY UP !!
me! I always listen to the whole cd while driving. It's a good song, I like this live the best: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lriWlHZAy8A.html&ab_channel=JudasPriestVEVO
53yo CLASSIC Priest lady here & you know I boycotted Ripper's era with them (🙄). BIG KK fan though not nearly as much as mid 80's& being 18yo, BUT..... when I heard the new release "Hellfire Thunderbolt" from his upcoming release ( hate to say this) but I think it's pure NOISE that I can't get into.. GOD FORGIVE ME FOR IM SIMPLY TOO OLD‼️😖.. But I tell you for both Rob & KK turning 70 this year they both look great 😉
At my girlfriend’s house in the early 80s. Her older brother was in his room, cranked this song to 11 and shook the house. My first time hearing it...the only way to hear this song is at 11.
In 1979 I went to a flea market with my dad. Two years after "Sad Wings of Destiny" came out, I was nine and I found a cassette of this album. I liked the cover art, so I bought it with the .50 cents I had. That was when my musical tastes went sharply away from what I was raised on, the 60's and 70's Country and Western my dad liked.
My brother found "Stained Class" in a similar way, found the cassette tape in a reduced bin in '79 or '80, 2-3 years after it came out. Was our 1st Introduction to Judas Priest, been a fan ever since! Great Album!!
Holy shit that sounds familiar, except it was the bargain cassette bin at a gas station. Bought it for the artwork and it ended up changing my my entire view of music.
Jamel the live version from Unleashed In The East. Matter of fact the whole Unleashed album. The Ripper, Diamonds and Rust, The Green Manalishi , Running Wild.
I'm a 57 year old truck driver and Judas Priest fan from the 70's. I'm in my truck at a FedEx facility at Detroit's airport.. THIS is the Judas Priest tune I've been waiting on. YOU FEEL IT!! I literally stood up and gave your reaction a standing ovation!! YOU FEEL IT!!!!
Judas Priest was one of my first concerts. I saw them in 1982 on the Screaming for Vengeance tour. Iron Maiden opened up for them around Number of the Beast I think. My 13 year old self was in heaven. Up the Irons 💪 as they used to say... Lol
That show in 82' was at the Brendan Byrne Arena in NJ. The following year we saw them at the Garden in New York. Defenders of the Faith tour... Place was nuts, we all started ripping the stuffing out of our seats and were flinging it towards the stage. Oh, the 1980's... Lol
@@georgejeffries3566 do you remember the foam from the seats? It was all over the stage and Rob Halford was on sitting on his Harley... The crowd was going nuts!!!
The MIGHTY JUDAS Fing PRIEST. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1983 MAIDEN PRIEST. HISTORICAL NIGHT. BEYOND THE RELAMS OF DEATH IS A MUST LISTEN TO. SEEN THEM 9 TIMES LIVE. HALFORD SOLO SEVERAL TIMES. LONG LIVE THE PRIEST.
I loved seeing your reaction to this Jamal! One of my favourite songs of all time on one of the best albums of all time. That sound for the mid 70s is incredible. Also, Priest,Sabbath, Led Zep all hail from the Midlands. A true breeding ground of rock and metal!!
A buddy of mine who is also a metal fan from Miles City Mt moved to Dallas in the 80's. He saw Judas Peiest in concert he said at the end of this song he said he grabbed his glasses because, they started vibrating and was afraid Robs scream was going to make them shatter on his face.
Yes! I second that. I think it's even better than the studio version. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8J9zyviTTmQ.html "Unleashed in the East" is also a great candidate for a full album reaction.
Other JP songs that will showcase Halford's range are "Blood Red Skies", "Riding on the Wind", "Hell Patrol", "The Sentinel", "Jaw Breaker"......and that's just for starters!
There it is. Welcome back Stank Face... Glad to see you getting around to this one. "Unleashed in the East" is an even more powerful version of the song. Halfords vocals are so on point. More feeling in them live. The twin guitar attack, everything is just seriously killer.
This album is an absolute Masterclass in Heavy Metal. One of the best of all time. It is clear that your journey through music is paying off as your quickness in identifying the brilliance of this song was awesome. You get it. And it's beautiful to watch. Thank you for doing what you do.
On that album, it rolls right into the next track, which is The Ripper. A song about Jack the Ripper. I am such a longtime Priest fan, and have listened that album so many countless times, I almost expected you to let it roll right into The Ripper, lol. Thanks Brother, your love and appreciation of great music always puts a big old grin on my face.
It's hard to believe that song was recorded in 1976. Still sounds amazing today the production on the song is amazing. As you say Jamel the musical instruments go hand in hand with Rob Halford voice no question!!!
I got to hear them do this song LIVE when I saw them in concert for the first time a couple years ago. Rob Halford is STILL god tier. He hit literally every note. They were all so, so, SO good. One of my all time favorite songs.
Judas Priest is one of my older brother's favorite bands. Listening to them always takes me back to the mid-80's when I was 7 or 8 years old and he was in high school or starting college and he'd come pick me up after school because our parents were at work, and he'd drive us back home blasting Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Van Halen and other bands of that era. Good times.
I got to interview Rob Halford of Judas Priest at the Hard Rock Cafe in St. Louis, Mo. back in the 90's along with his band Fight when he left Priest for a while before rejoining.
You REALLY need to check out the live version from the "Unleashed in the East" album! Seriously bro,the energy level is through the roof in the live version. Always was one of my favorite JP riffs to play on guitar!
Dude. I guess there are bunches of people wanting to hear you respond to the live version from Japan. PLEASE MAN. I've been waiting to hear your reaction for over a year or more. As a teenager back then and being in love with a girl that broke my heart. WE LIVED THIS SHIT !!!! PLEASE MAN IF ANYTHING YOU DO JUST LISTEN TO UNLEASED IN THE EAST !!!! YOU HEAR JUDAS AT THEIR BEST !!!!! METAL GODS IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN. LIKE ZEPP AND SABBATH. IN A CLASS OF THERE OWN.
@@MusicLover-dt7ic: We have music in common...British Steel got me into Priest in 1980...First time I heard Livin' After Midnight...It's my favorite album...I saw them and Iron Maiden on the British Steel tour/ 1980...U Don't Have to be Old to be Wiiiiise....Cheers my fellow Priest fan...I've seen em 13 times...
Love Judas Priest, the music is amazing, the Vocal pitches give me chills, His scream has to be the best..."Screaming for Vengeance" proves that fact with out a doubt. Thanks Jamel, Peace
Beyond the Realms of dead! is another banger or Electric Eye live oficial video... I saw Halford opening for Iron Maiden in 2001, the best day of my life
I have been waiting a long painful minute for you to make it to this song Jamel. Your response is priceless, it's so wonderful watching you react to old musical favorites of many of us. I wish you'd do a reaction to the entire Unleashed in the East by Judas Priest, my favorite versions of Victim of Changes is on that album. Also the Diamonds and Rust version on that album is also my favorite for that song. It's an absolute must listen to album. You Rock Sir!
This is hands down my favorite song of all time. Everything about this makes it the perfect song. Glenn Tiptons masterful blues inspired guitar licks, KK Downings roaring solo in the middle completely contrasting Glenn. Rob Halfords perfect vocals. Fuckin love it.
Little different try last rose od summer, desert plains, turning circles, don't go, the ripper, sinner, diamonds and rust, grinder, living after midnight, love bites, pain and pleasure, take these chains off well I mean all lmao
All great songs , also the sentinel , free wheel burning green manolishie , cheater , so so many awesome songs seen them 2 times so far , will see them again
My second favorite Priest song. 1. Beyond the Realms of Death 2. Victim of Changes 3. Touch of Evil 4. You Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise 5. Desert Plains
My favorite Judas Priest song of all time! First concert I ever went to back in 1982. Been waiting for this one and it didn't disappoint. Agree with others that the version on Unleashed in the East is an awesome version too.
My first Judas Priest concert was July, 1980 in Baltimore. To say they blew me away is an understatement. Hearing Rob Halford in his prime is a memory I'll treasure always.
I bought this album in 76 because of the cover. I remember the excitement of putting the needle on the vinyl, and then being blown away! Glad this made it to your ears Jamel. I dig your channel and philosophy! ☮
Check out Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver next! Two songs that go together. There's also a live version I believe on Top Of The pops if you want to see early Judas Priest live. Keep in mind, their sound was drastically different in the beginning. They got heavier into the 1980s.
@@TheBlackQueen if you're referring to the one where Rob has long hair and is wearing a flared-sleeve "hippie top" then it was definitely Old Grey Whistle Test. Excellent performance, if "throttled back" slightly by OGWT's attitude to heavy metal at the time. There was evidently a fair bit of drama surrounding that performance, but even so it turned out awesome.
Amazing reaction! I also was blown away when I heard this for the first time in 1996, have been a fan since. The Priest of the 70's to me tops the 80's. Love the sound, love the songs. You have many more great ones to hear!
The look of shock on your face at the end, wow. You should see it live. Incredible band, with the motorcycle on stage during Hell Bent for Leather. This is my 2nd favorite song by Judas Priest. The 1st one is You've Got Another Thing Comin' It's my get pumped up to go out song.
I've been a fan of JP since about '79. One of my favorite bands. Although some of the live recordings of this tune is great in their own right, this version stands alone. "Sinner" is another old favorite of mine by JP
