🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Nobody is owed a handshake. If The character stopped to shake everyone’s hand the parade would never move forward. The people making the claim are the ones who are the racists!
That’s what I’m saying. They must have racism on their mind all the time if they just jumped to this conclusion that the character ignored them because of their skin lol
4:58 it’s stupid to mention insecurity from social media when if your child is at sesame place, they shouldn’t be on social media because they’re too young. Take some off sweetheart…
Some of these comments are absolutely disgusting, and now we know where the Sesame Street characters got it from. Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves. Assuming they don’t have jobs, saying it’s a money grab… and my personal favorite: jobless parents suing Americans. So what you’re saying is if you’re a parent who isn’t employed, you’re not American? Get control of yourselves people. Your true colors are shining bright for the world to see right now.
The parents filing the lawsuit are showing their true colors... or, excuse me... their true COLOR by filing this ridiculous lawsuit. To me the solution is simple. You don't want to be labeled a stereotype? STOP DOING DUMB S--T THAT FITS THE STEREOTYPE!!!
I can understand they paid the same amount to have the same experience with the characters. However, as a black man, I would simply refuse to give sea world or sesame place my money. I would ensure none of my close friends or relatives patronized their business either. I believe this is a money grab. I don’t believe they are representing their children. If so, they would be asking for resignations, or a park shutdown. Yet, the only thing they ask for is $50M. I don’t see how paying $50M stops other children from being violated. They will implement a no touching policy for everyone and find another way to discriminate if that’s what they want to do. You’ll never stop discrimination because people have perceptions and preferences. It’s a dumb conversation to have. Speak by withholding your patronage.
I don’t get it (40 year old black woman here). Yes, I need to know what the heck that was. She didn’t overlook the girls, she looked right at them and hand waved no. Why? There must be a reason and I want to know it if it’s not racism.
This seems like a simple issue, but it can get complex QUICKLY! I wonder if Sesame Place offers the families a trip back to the park with special VIP treatment and a party with the characters -would the children feel better about their experience.
Whoa is them. It “took the innocence” of her child?! Give us a break. The characters cannot touch every single child. What if the staff underneath the costumes were not white themselves?!
The character paused long enough to shake his/her finger in a NO gesture to both of the girls. Time enough for a high 5. Racial injustice does not depend on the ethnicity of the perpetrator, but on the injustice forced on the victim.
As liberal as I am, this is an obvious ploy to make a quick buck...or 50 million...how shameful of those idiots... a child's innocence is lost through abuse, neglect and trauma, not because they didn't get a high 5.. get over your shameful selves and teach your children that things don't always go as planned. Period.
I'm a lefty and I pretty much agree with you. Sure, this was bad, but exactly why do they think they need 50 million bucks to redress the wrong? Why not $1 million? Why not $100 million.
This is the most ridiculous lawsuit ever. These people are the equivalent of ambulance chasers looking for a payday. This is entitlement without cause on full display. To claim you know what someone else’s intentions are and those intentions include racism simply because YOUR child didn’t get what they wanted or expected is irresponsible, unreasonable, judgmental, selfish, and entitled. Nothing was promised to these people or anyone else when they entered the park. It’s unreasonable to expect every single child to be catered too at anytime let alone during a parade that is moving forward to continue the show. Without a doubt, there were other children of various skin color including white that didn’t get a hug or high five like they wanted both on that day or any given day for that matter. I’m also certain that on that day and any given day there were plenty of times where this mascot and others gave hugs and high fives to black, Asian, Indian, etc children which nullifies the argument for racism. This isn’t about true racism. This is about a specific type of parent doing a horrible job a good parenting thinking their child is special and teaching them that when they don’t get what they want you start making presumptive accusations without merit and demand you get more than you are entitled to or deserve. To see racism in everything that happens to you starts to make you the racist. It’s sickening and disgusting. When I was very young I qualified for a county wide race after never competing in a race before. When the big race day occurred I was the only non black in the race. As I came down the final stretch I was neck in neck with another child. Even though it was close and I along with others thought I had won, the other child was declared the winner. I was disappointed too but accepted it immediately because I was already proud of myself for what I had accomplished never having run in races before. I didn’t need any one else’s approval, I didn’t claim it was unfair, and I didn’t cry racism even though I was the only non colored child there and had just as much grounds to as these people. There were no second place trophies so I didn’t get that either and that’s what probably disappointed me the most. What I did have though we’re parents and friends who loved me and encouraged me in spite of the questionable outcome. A week later my parents and friends who attended the race surprised me with a trophy they had made to reward me for my efforts and attitude anyway. On the trophy plate was inscribed my name, the name of the race and date, and the words ‘Second Place’. Even though they could have easily catered to the belief that I had actually won the race, or done so to make me feel better, or to feel entitled, they accepted it as it was and gave me what was declared rather than engraving ‘First Place’. It still stands out as one of the more special moments in my childhood and taught me a valuable life lesson using love as the motivation regardless of the circumstances. I’m glad these people are not my parents as I’m sure I would be worse off if this is how they handle life’s disappointments with their child.
😂😂😂 these parents are looking for a payout. My kid didn’t get a high five pay me 50 million gtfoh 😂😂 I hope they get nothing like they deserve shame shame shame
That person was waving no to a family that kept asking her to hold their child. Unlike not giving kids a high-five, holding a child is against the rules. I doubt the person in the costume even saw the girls because he or she was frustrated
Ive always wanted to put on one of those costumes just to test its "Visibility" IMO you don't know what its like to be a mascot you don't know what they go threw, you can't judge them. One would have to wear the costume and enter the culture to know what they deal with. There are many factors to consider and I would want to run scientific tests, collect data from other theme parks, learn what the guest interaction policy is . Find out if the issue is limited to JUST this park or if its all parks. if the interactions really only happen to black families or if only black families come forward or if the park attracts more black guests then white ones, is there a work policy against hugging ANY children, or if child interactions have certain height requirements. Or maybe the issue is gender not race based? I would like to see a recording of the job orientation training , put the mascots threw an obstacle course and compare reports here to reports in other parks.
@chairmanofthebored8684 I'm sure you would agree that we dont know. Without knowing for 100% certainty, I can still pluck like 3 good reasons that I myself as a parent would have been having a talk with the kids about. Acting like you don't know as a parent seems suspicious as well.
From the only in America files - The vison in those suits is terrible you have to focus a lot to see anything and if you high fived every kid you would be stuck in the parade all day.
Poor reporting, not showing examples of the other several videos of multiple families' instances claiming to have been treated poorly by Sesame Place character workers. People watch this one video and just figure, 'No big deal.'
Insane. Do you honestly think those dressed up and overheated kids who wear those costumes have time to stop and touch every kid there? Parades have a tendancy to MOVE diown the street. Sheesh...A long time ago, I believe I was 7 or 8, The A-Team was a big TV hit and Mr. T was my hero! One weekend it was in the paper that he'd be at one of our local plazas handing out posters and you could meet him! I was out of my mind with excitement. The day came and my dad was working, so my grandpa took me there and stood in line with me for two hours. When r got up to him I said hi, he handed me the poster as he was paid to and I was pushed aside. He didn't say hi. He didn't touch me or shake my hand. HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT ME. I was in front of him for about half a second, then cast aside. Broke my young heart. Do i think it was because he was a racist? Do i think he hates little white boys? No, the line had hundreds of people in it and needed to move! These people are nuts and they're simply trying to grab money and using their kids as an excuse. Pathetic.
I'm from the area where sesame place is and TRUST!!! that area is definitely more Racist than not....too many back woods republicans there....and the fact it definitely is a pattern.
At first I didn't understand what type of lawsuit, but it would considered as a civil rights lawsuit. For in violation of sesame place promise in there terms and agreements related to discrimination, that after purchase of tickets all customers should be treated the same.
Well optics matter. It just doesn't look good. If you were doing a meet and greet and refused to acknowledge a couple of kids you deserve to be held accountable. It's your job you are getting paid. Kids have delicate sensibilities
What Is Wrong With Our Society Today? If we viewed human society a single live organism, then what would we see? We would see that, in its current state of development, its immune system is barely working, and its cells and organs, which should be sustaining the body’s health, are deteriorating. Personal, social, economic and ecological problems are all on the rise, including depression, stress, loneliness, emptiness, anxiety, xenophobia, drug abuse, suicide, income equality, poverty, climate change, and although many people are trying to patch and treat these problems, the efforts fail to solve the problem at its overarching cause. What is the cause of all problems in human society? It is the human ego, i.e., the innate calculative mechanism in human nature that prioritizes self-benefit over benefiting others, which makes society’s individual “cells” each pull to themselves more than giving to others, bringing on the downfall of the entire organism of human society. As cancer takes place when cells take more than they need at the expense of the body, so our society is currently made up of egoists each guided by an enveloping egoistic paradigm that supports the idea of success as becoming individually wealthy, famous and powerful. That we are egoists is a nature-given situation, but the social influence and public opinion that supports egoistic goals and values is what’s wrong with society. Nature functions oppositely to the human ego: altruistically and according to laws of interconnection and interdependence. It thus rejects our growing ego, and the more we develop today, the more we feel pressured between our growing ego that wants to detach from others, and nature’s tendency to connect us all into a single whole. Therefore, the more we develop today, the more we enter into an increasing entanglement of complications, and it is all in order to bring us to the realization that our egoistic nature stands behind all of our problems, that it is an inherently evil quality, that we helplessly follow its demands to try and fill it with self-aimed pleasure at the expense of others time and again, and that any move to improve society requires first diagnosing the ego as the cause of all our problems. Then, when we reach a widespread realization of this common cause to all our problems, we can start fixing it. When we reach such an awakening, we will realize that there is no person, group of people, or political or religious orientation to blame for our problems. There is only our very egoistic nature, dwelling in each and every one of us. How can we then correct human nature, if it is the cause of all our problems? It is possible if we create an environment that supports the ego’s correction, so that instead of receiving for self-benefit alone at the expense of others, we would want to positively contribute and connect to others in order to benefit them, without any “What will I get out of it?” intent. It is against human nature to give and contribute to others, but if we changed public opinion, our social and media influences, and also our education, in order that we learn the nature of humanity’s increasing interdependence today, how the human ego opposes our growing interdependence and also why this is the cause of all our problems, and that the way to resolve our myriad problems today is by correcting our connections to each other-creating an environment that supports giving and contributing to society, prioritizing values of mutual consideration and responsibility over competitive and individualistic ideas of success-then we would be on course to a monumental positive social transformation.
They just trying to get a pay check. It's sad. It's like celebrities can't take pictures with everybody and some of them treat people like crap but nobody files lawsuits on them. Get your mind right.
I'm filing a lawsuit against Jon bon Jovi , he waved at the person next to me at a concert but blanked me. You can see his/her eye line is high up. They probably couldn't see them. 50million !!!!
What is the point to sue like I have been going to sesame place for 13 years I am Hispanic they treat me so well I’m friends with some cast members that work there now and like they can’t see in costumes well so like u can’t do to much and also in that video it was a mini parade all they do is walk and u guys have made it worse for us they don’t give hugs or high-fives during show like u say that they hurt your child mentally but now you’re hurting every child so stop you’re hurting millions of Childs that go to the park like y’all made it worse not better
This hits home. I am solosexual and often go to these parks alone. These places are really hostile if you want to ride any rides that requires two in a seat, you'd think they could put you together with someone else. I wouldn't necessarily think of a lawsuit, but some awareness-raising that not everyone regularly goes to entertainment venues with someone else.
"Solosexual"? Haha, you can't be serious! What does going alone to an amusement park have to do with sexuality? Back in my day, they called it 'being a 'loner'.
