Judge Doom is on the hunt for Roger Rabbit at Oogie Boogie Bash and any toon will face the dip that gets in his way! #oogieboogiebash #disneyland #disney
Good on you Disney for showing respect for the old school villains like Doom. Never would I thought I'd see them bring this character to the parks. Maybe, just maybe, we can see Ratigan
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is my all-time favorite film, and I'm actually surprised they added him to this year's bash. All Hail Disney for that, cuz Judge Doom is SOOOO sinister
I really hope Disneyland will make Judge Doom a Meet-and-Greet Character one of these days (along with Sid, Mother Gothel, Oogie Boogie, and Madam Mim)!
What an awesome show! It’s a bit creepy for my taste, and surprised that Disney did this show. It’s all good! I’m impressed with this actors performance of Christopher Lloyd’s character, because he did Christopher’s character perfectly. I think this actor is creepier than Christopher as Judge Doom 😱
This was my movie. I watched it every day with my dad as a kid and still today at 36 it’s in my top five. My dad died in 2021 and when o saw Judge Doom ad I rounded that corner, my soul longed for my dad to experience him with me. I hope they bring him back, love this addition!
Oh sweet! Childhood nightmares come to life! I actually ran out of the room scared watching it when I was younger because he dipped the shoe and didnt finish it until like a year ago. Great movie, and great idea to have him at Oogie Boogie Bash
Well, I guess Disney wanted to go a little darker for Halloween. You know, if there are any kids in the audience-and depending on how emotionally stable/mature they are-you could use this show as a metaphor to discuss genocide and prejudice to children. Now, it may sound crazy, but hear me out. Judge Doom’s view was that toons were basically livestock that could be controlled and eliminated whenever they (the humans) wanted, much like certain minority/underprivileged groups were-and in some cases, are still-treated. …Of course, that’s just my overthinking, autistic AF brain talking.
No, Disneyland will never compete with Knott's Scary Farm and Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights as long they continue to maintain the family-friendly Oogie Boogie Bash. While Judge Doom might be Disney's attempt to go darker in part with their rivals, it's nothing compared to the houses, scary atmosphere, adult-oriented storylines, electronic music, chainsaws, blood, scary costumes, and jumpscares that are evident in Knott's Scary Farm, Universal's HHN, and most Cedar Fair and Six Flags' Halloween events. As a guy from the Bay Area who's looking for a good scare, I will continue to go to USH's HHN or Knott's Scary Farm for the time being.
I never thought we would ever see this character in the parks. I love everything about this. The actor playing him is perfect, and he has some great improvisation with the crowd. The dipmobile is on display beside him. They killed the freaking shoe again!! And don't think i didn't notice the use of the name "Acme" on some of those barrels (a name that Disney has to pay for if they want to use it). This was perfect and I wish I could see it in person.
Technically, this can be used to introduce some really dark topics, as it not only features murder, but I’m kind of picking of a racist mindset towards toons from the character, so it kind of deals with that. I’m glad Disney is stepping away from sheltering kids and using things like this to introduce darker topics to children. Parents can use scenes like this to discuss topics like that.
Nice to see Disney acknowledging Who Framed Roger Rabbit, especially since the debacle between Spielberg and Eisner in the 90s that lead to Roger’s decrease in Disney media. Maybe they bought the rights to him back since he appeared in the Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers movie and Pinocchio remake?
I love seeing Doom, and I love that Disney is still remembering that a large part of the oogie boogie bash and MNSSHP ARE us elder millennials who appreciate these villains. BUT, while this actor looks good, and put on a fun show, as a huge Doom fan (I watched the film every day since I was five and my dad showed it to me, still at 36 it’s one of my top five films), no one will ever have that Christopher Lloyd cadence in their Doom voice, that’s what it’s missing.
Well, this portrayal is just as good. Kinda gives me a vibe of the hero being held captive/taunted by the villain and making them (the hero) watch a friend or one of their own kind be tortured.
OK I was a kid even though I don’t have memories. I saw Roger rabbit once at the parade. But as an adult, even though I don’t have tickets to visit, doom gets his own meet and greet, but wanna be interested if he’s with those weasels.
Judge Doom used to scared to living daylights out of me as a kid. remember me Eddie? when I killed your brother? I talked JUST LIKE THISSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No smoke / fog effect coming from the barrel when the Toon shoe gets dipped? 🌪Guys voice didn't really sound much like Doom. Still I guess it's nice they remembered him.
@@jeanhealy3132 WDW has scary things too ("It's Tough To Be A Bug", anyone?, RIP forever and ever 'ExTERRORestrial'), and Disney Parks aren't exclusively for kids. More adults without kids visit the parks, and so Disney offers programming for older kids and adults.
Good news! They added smoke effects! Videos from the daytime performances have fog/smoke coming out of the DIP barrel. Ig the effect wasn’t working that night
I wonder as the performance goes on they may add it in. It could be, at the moment, the fog could be messing with the sound/performance depending on how the speakers and other props are laid out , or the effect is simply not working just yet. Disney likes to add fog where it can, so the lack of it could just be a simple "the effect is off". But if they didn't add it in, I am sure with all the "fog/smoke effects would work so well" comments on all the videos of this performance, I am sure it will get added. If it doesn't get added it may also be due to guest proximity to the performance. Since this is a walkthrough attraction, smoke effects may pose some sort of a hazard to the guests in such a tight space. I have noticed that in the last few years during the MNSSHP(pre-covid) the rolling fog through the park walkways have not been as pronounced as in years past, as it probably created a tripping hazard for people walking around in the dark not being able to see where curbs or people's feet in front of them are.
Good news! It does have a smoke effect! The daytime performances showed the smoke coming out of the DIP barrel. Ig the effect wasn’t working that night
Hades at Oogie Boogie Bash | Disney California Adventure 2024 🔥 Hades is on the hunt for Hercules at Oogie Boogie Bash and any villains will face the fire that gets in his way!
People losing their shit in the comments saying "omigod this is too dark for Disney", clearly have not been paying attention to Disney's entire catalogue of cartoons and films or the parks' histories (it makes me sad now that we've lost Snow's Scary Adventure). And while this def unlocked my childhood trauma from WFRR, if you all can't handle this, absolutely do not look up what Disneyland Shanghai and Hong Kong do at Halloween
And it’s good that they’re using darker elements. These days, you can’t just market one type of entertainment trope/mood/Etc. You have to diversify in order to get a larger audience.
I'm suprised they brought back the presence of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in the parks because for the past decade, the film was disliked by Disney themselves.
Roger has been on Disney's radar the past few years. He has merchandise that's been selling, mostly to an older crowd. Disney loves when things sell. They must know there's a market for the character.
