If I remember correctly, the Pleasants' house is just a vacation home they stayed in. So technically the house is not supposed to reflect their personality, it's just a vacation place.
As an Island boy, I have to admit, these houses to me remind me the most of homes on my own island, more so than Isla Paradiso. I actually grew up and still live in a somewhat oversized islandy McMansion.
I enjoyed the inclusion of the McMansions, it did add some variety to the world, which I think Isla Paradiso is missing... IP is more "hollywood movie set tropical island" whereas this feels like a real place.
I feel the whole Sunlit Tide build by different team than the usual EA. From the lot names, themes, my first build vibes, and the color schemes. It's just too normal and basic, lack of weird color choices, wacky design that reflect their sims (aside from that Jungle Retreat house), and a bit of nuances that make the house feel like it had a story. Twin Brook had a lot of this. The only thing that make me sure EA made this is that damn foosball table.
I'm gonna go out of the limb and say I rather have muted colours that go together than baby poo zebra and magenta leopard prints in their decor. It's mediocre and safe but definitely not offensive hahah.

Okay, I never played the sims 2, so I don't know the lore that well, but I have a save where I made Daniel Pleasant cheat on his wife with my sim. Knowing the lore about the Pleasants makes that save even better.
I renovated the Island Peril back in one of my old Sims 3 games that became corrupt and made it more of a villa style with tile floors throughout and stucco walls. Makes me sad I lost it
I think for me on the one build the kids bathroom having just a stand shower no tub and the mums having no shower just a tub seems off. Realistically most main baths, or kids baths have combos.
Swimming pools: now I always go by the notion that one tile is about one square meter. The smallest above-ground pools in real life have a diameter of about 3 to 6 meters, similar in size to the hot tubs in Late Night. When I was a kid, we had a rectangular in-ground pool that was roughly 7 by 15 meters. I think that's a bit big for most Sims 3 lots, I usually go 5x7 or so. On the other end of the spectrum, an Olympic-size pool is 25 by 50 meters. In other words, with the infrastucture you'd need to make it realistic, this size pool probably needs a 64x64 lot. On a related but unrelated note - note that the stadium takes a 64x64 lot. That's a bit over 4000 tiles for the entire stadium. A regulation US football field without the stands is about 5300 sq meters. A soccer pitch is about 8000. A baseball diamond is at least 9000. So what the heck sport are they playing in there, miniature golf?!?
I think The Jungle Recluse is my favorite. I love the bright colors and that green is really close to my favorite shade of green. Yeah, I do love Sunlit Tides for the world itself 😂
I don't remember it in that way. I thought there was more island type of houses, with thatched roof and palm wood walls. Maybe more of unoccupied lots are in this style.
Thanks friend. I watched your video you did with Ms. Ditch. Loved it and have taken one of my own builds and 'beautified' it up. If you know what I mean. I used all of your least favorite colors by the way. And made the roof pitch so high. It looks like a mountain you can slide down. And all the windows. Windows everywhere. Not all of which are centered or lined up either. And even painted the ceilings. But not going to tell you what the colors are. If interested, I would love to share it with you to rate it, I spoofed the original home just for you to hate it. I do have pics to share, too. I don't know how to do that.
