A lot of AITA posts are fake. I'd even say most. I really feel that some of the posters think of an awful title then work their way backwards, writing a story in which the title is relevant but misleading.

or theyre just "aita for donating £10000 to an orphanage" and the context is their step mothers pet fish yelled at them for it and they're like "I feel really bad, please help (and like compliment me on being a good person and give me awards and stuff)"

yeah, this was really disrespectful for the wife to do. ignorance and disrespect, it's careless and she should have known that it would hurt the relationship, especially having been warned immediately.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if the new parents were planning some future identity theft with their new kid. Might not be the case at all, but even aside from the extreme weirdness of using the same name, I'd be concerned about that.

Why should they have to change their child’s name cuz someone else’s child has the same name

But, counterargument: consider that while she left the details out, implicitly we know she said "your spoiled brat is only special to you" IN FRONT of the kid. There was no mention of her waiting until the kid was out of the room or leaving the room to talk to her sister, and it wouldnt have made sense in the situation - the five year old pissed her off by trying to knock down the cake, and as an immediate response to that OP described that she said to her sister "Your kid is only special to you, everyone else thinks he's a brat." That means the kid was right there, standing beside the cake table. That's conveniently glossed over but its what makes her the AH without a shed of doubt for me. That kid is just five years old, and his brain isnt done cooking - his mom put HIM in a position with her shoddy parenting, where he feels like a problem his family puts up with... at the age of five. He's not going to internalise the nuance of that statement, that what OP meant was along the lines of "im annoyed by this behavior and trying to let my sister know that she needs to parent her child better because he deserves to feel like we love him and arent annoyed by him." imagine your aunt saying in front of you: "Nobody in the family thinks of you as special except your mom, youre a brat." Like gosh satan take a deep breath and either word it differently in front of the kid or leave the room if you really need to go off and just blow some steam. I get it shes pissed but shes the adult, she has the responsibility of choosing the words that come out of her mouth.

Absolutely disagree@@TsukiKageTora but i respect you have your opinion. I think you should build kids confidence from home and treat them with kindness so when they go out into the big bad world they dont already think they're a problem or a bad kid - because studies show that generally kids who've had their confidence hurt in their home-life either react by embodying the bad kid stereotype even harder to gain control over their own identity, or they grow more timid and unassertive in the face of adversity. Kids who dont hear "youre a brat and the family doesnt even think youre special" at home have resilience. So if he does ever end up getting intro trouble because he's being a roudy, he'll be emotionally secure enough to reflect and change. But also - he's five. Its moms fault he's that way right now, i think. He's literally at the age where he's only expected to be able to name about four colors. He's not going to read the subtext of his aunts comments at the family gathering and apply it to his life for self improvement. Mom just needs to do a little better, but it aint his fault. Thats my opinion anyway! But we all raise kids differently and im okay with you saying you dont dig my version.

Lack of parenting. It's not the kids fault, they are just kids, it's the helicopter-my-kid-is-perfect-even-though-i-dont-know-anything-about-them-because-i-just-shove-an-ipad-in-their-face-to-shut-them-up parents that are the issue.

It’s either that or like, along the spectrum of either A - “am I the a-hole for making my pregnant wife dinner?” And proceeds to inform us all that he made his wife food that had something she was deathly allergic to in it and got offended because she had a severe reaction to it and didn’t finish eating and then got upset with him because the baby could’ve been harmed Or b - “am I the a-hole for ruining my husbands trip and embarrassing him in front of all hos friends family and coworkers?” And proceeds to tell a story about how she got a headache and asked him to be quieter so she could lay down and he flew off the handle and screamed at her or something to that extent pretty much. I always see them following one of those two formulas 😂 [These are examples I thought up on the spot but if there are stories like these I wouldn’t be surprised tbh]

I have to disagree, because work is not work If my partner would do paintings for a living, of course I would want to see them. If he would write books or poems, I would love to read them, even if it's just a bit. Even if it was something like app development.. I would be just too curious to download his apps. Maybe the difference here is if something is made for the public or not. Idk. I just think it's not the same as a basic job where you don't really create something for everyone to see.

I disagree, I think a divorce threat is warranted, the OP clearly told the mother that they did not want their kids in videos BEFORE she started her channel(and the mother presumably agreed to it considering OP felt no need to monitor the content). Then the mother proceeded to go behind OP’s back and film the kids anyway.

Posting your kids online and always having a camera in their face is abuse.

They aren't gatekeeping a name. Its super weird its like they're replacing his first child.

Yeah, I also had another kid with my name in school. And another person with my name and surname (no relation) live on my street. Not in my direct family though! With me and the other kid living in the same house/being in the same house as OPs kid would be! Are they going to number the kids? They won't know which one's being addressed... And even in my situation there was occasional mess ups with the mail or when trying to open accounts on anything! How much worse is this going to be with actually being siblings?
