Thanks so much for the awesome feedback. No, no Embergen all the smoke/volumetric are good old Blender. Yeah the loose number plate is hand animation and the "Realistic" planet is an old painted plaster wall texture wrapped around a sphere. 🤣👍👍🥴

The fish entering the atmosphere was actually not long enough if you wanted it to be truly realistic, and it was perhaps slightly too long in terms of people's attention span. So what are you gonna do? The ones with animation and sound have a distict inherent advantage over static images. I thought the dancing one was really good. Fish one was funny. I think it really boils down to How unique and memorable it is, and then if it doesn't have any obvious flaws in it. Now... Let me see who won

As for 2 suns error, that seems ro be easily f8xed. Flip planet on an axis, done. Ir mive blender light 9n station. Done. So thats definitely an iversight, imo. But yes. On one view8ng people may not catch it. Is that shot even animated? Im watch8ng on phone. Anyway, its a winner!

I agreed with a lot of the comments, and I agree on the winning entry. I wanted to talk about the lighting on that space station, and give my view as someone who works in film and with cinematographers. The light is coming from two different directions, and yes it is stylised. And yes, that would be something that would be done in a big budget film as well. If you notice, as a result of that lighting, the brightest part of the space station is against the darkest part of the planet, and the darkest part of the space station is against the brightest part of the planet. This is beautifully done, and it gives you the shape of the foreground object, which is exactly what lighting is supposed to do. Otherwise you would have had one half of the screen in the darkness and you would have lost the silhouette of the space station. By creating that contrast you could see the entire outline of the space station. Again, I thought it was beautifully done from the perspective of cinematography. That said, it was clear to me on the first watching the creator of that piece has a strong knowledge of cinematography. That hallway shot where the plant is outside the room is absolutely gorgeous. I also wanted to mention something about the cat on The Moon image. What's causing the problem is the shallow depth of field, because the softness of focus on the lander, the mountain, and The Earth are too similar which immediately gives away the small scale nature of the model. I felt it would have been better not to use shallow depth of field, but I see that the artist used it to compensate for the clutter. They might have done that better through lighting, making the foreground the brightest point, and dimming the background more. There were three bright points if I remember correctly that were all of the same intensity and that pulled your eyes all over the place, rather than keeping them focused on the subject. Nobody mentioned the nice manual tracking feel of the camera during the spaceship launch. The shot with the crash zoom and some unsteadiness as the operator was getting the shot on a moving subject. I thought it looked very realistic. Maybe I've directed too many live brodcasts. I also agree with you about the tree-line shot. I liked too how they had anamorphic lens flares to match the screen ratio. That was a nice detail.

Good feedback, I agree with all of it. I actually did notice the tracking shot. I tried to quickly add the same effect to my latest moon landing video, and it's surprising hard to make it look natural.

Breathe one definitely was great. Pacing is viewer based So if someone has ADD watching it, they're gonna say it's way too slow paced and boring. Or prob most kids under 20. I liked it.

Did the rules lay out if everythimg had to be new and not reused from prev projects or did that not matter? If people could reuse models, then they could s0endc2 weeks just animat8ng. Some really cool entries in there.

Please sir, make a video on how to make realistic wall color like red, yellow, green, orange etc.
@DECODEDVFX
@DECODEDVFX Год назад
Like wall paint? It's pretty simple. Just pick a colour, lower the specularity a bit. Glossy paints need slightly lower roughness, otherwise make it quite rough. If it's visible close up, plug a noise node into the height input of a bump node, lower the strength and increase the scale of the noise massively.

Why would you model a golf club and spend time trying to match it to a real person??? I mean, couldn't you just go to a golf course and borrow a golf club or rent one golf club for a day and just swing a real golf clup in front of the green screen?

i would have filed most of these, so much fake blur effects, motion blur, depth blur, shaky cam. and low fps is also a form of blur in a way, at least its lowering of the image quality when its completely available. i give low resolution a pass here, i can just watch it in thumbnail size.
