There's two types of motion blur, camera motion and per-object motion blur. What people associate motion blur being bad is camera motion blur not per-object motion blur which is very good effect that only recent games are implementing.

There is no "good" motion blur. Motion blur always simulates a flaw. Like film grain and depth of view. Lens flares or god rays. It's all BS.

They just released a patch for both Judgment games a few hours ago. It added support for FSR 2.1. Interested to see how it compares with FSR 2.0.

just stumbled on this video looking for judgement reviews, thanks for it. just wanna say ive played quite a few yakuza games on pc now and they often have some kind of stutter as you turn the camera so if judgement is anything like them and i imagine the engine is the same right? there is a fix that worked for me, it was basically going into nvidia control panel settings and switch a few things up, firstly set ambient occlusion near the top of 3d settings to performance, then make sure your gpu is set to prefer high performance, set low latency mode to on, i have vsync forced on there too but use a gsync compatible display (LG C1). I think that's it, i think setting ambient occlusion to performance is THE critical setting that changes the games behavior for stuttering, mine is now silky smooth with zero stutter. i am using a 3080ti at 4k but still had stutter before these settings. hope they help. i should say i play like a dragon, kiwami 2 and 0 on pc so it may not be the same solution for judgement but im willing to bet it will help.

Denuvo is a dealbreaker for me ever since I got my Steam Deck, due to the internet connection check requirement. Learned the hard way with Project Diva on PC. Sega eventually patched Denuvo out of the Yakuza games, so there's hope for the future.

I remember the Kiwami 2 port which uses the dragon engine required an unofficial patch to be properly optimised. may be needed for these as well

Honestly stellar video, It's my first time here so I'm not that well versed in your content but what I'd like to see a bit more was some gameplay, fighting goons and running around the city. It would give us a bit more of a complete picture. Everything else was perfect.

Hey when doing these type of reviews from RGG Studios like Yakuza or Judgment test it out during combat not just city exploration because that's where it gets really put to the test because yes it's stable during exploration but that can quickly changed during combat

It's a pretty good port, granted I have a pretty beefy pc 5900x/3080Ti but am getting close to 100 fps at 4K with all settings cranked but the frametime graph is perfect. I put a 90 fps lock and the frametime graph is absolutely flat. FSR 2.0 is also a great option to for people to use. It looks pretty good.

I's a solid board but it may not be for everyone because it's an SLI/Crossfire board with two x16 pcie slots so hey had to cut back on USB 3 ports. I'd go with an X570, those are cheap these days and they have some really good ones. I know Gigabyte has some good ones with their Aorus lineup

@@NeonKodiak There's a few different ways. If you have an Nvidia card you can do it in the Nvidia Control Panel under the Manage 3D Settings, and scroll to where it says Max Framerate and set it that way. Second method is to use the Rivatuner Statistics Server which comes packaged with Msi Afterburner . Open up Riavauner and where it says Framerate Limit you can set your desired framerate lock. If you have a Radeon gpu you can use a feature called Radeon Chill in the Radeon Software that comes packaged with the driver.

it runs on 2560 1080 , but only open world is fullscreen 21:9 (when playing its widescreen), black bars during cutscenes and looks like 1920 1080 res in those. fighting feels much smoother and faster on pc as on my Ps5 version .

Just wanted to point out, judgement had stutter and frame rate dips on base ps4 too, lost judgement fixed most of it. Which why lost judgement pc port also might run better? maybe they just ported the games and never bothered to optimize further in terms of stability.

All Yakuza PC ports have ultrawide support (minus the cutscenes, those are 16:9 but you get a nice graphics or black bars on the side depending on the title). Even the 3 remaster supports 32:9 which was a nice surprise. And it's a proper 32:9 where the FOV is actually wider not the jank ultrawide where basically 16:9 is streched (and because of that top and bottom content is just cut off). Even the UI is at the right place, not in the middle like some weaker implementations (like the new Saint's row game for example). Funny how the best UW PC ports are coming from PS even though PS does not have any UW support. However I have not tried either of the Judgement games yet, so it may be different here. But in general Yakuza PC ports are excellent even if the newer Dragon Engine titles (6, Kiwami 2, 7 and so on) are more demanding. Great performance, stability, only a few bugs and adequate mouse and keyboard support. Though it's best with a controller, some minigames even benefit from the mouse (like the hunting minigame in Yakuza 5).

You can actually really easily remove the black bars in all the Yakuza games on UW. SnowiestAngeman (Yakuza RU-vidr) has quite a few mods, at least for Kiwami, LAD, Judgment and Lost Judgment, and he has a workaround for 0. The others all have other implementations - have a look at the PC Gaming Wiki for each game because there are explanations for them all

3:39 3440x1440 is the standard resolution for an ultrawide due to it being at a 21:9 aspect ratio. This resolution is close, but expect some small black bars at the end of your monitor. But it isn't a deal breaker, Death Stranding has the same thing.

The key problem over Judgment not going to PC was less of Sega problem and more to do with a JP Talent agency being afraid of mods damaging the likeness of Yagami's actor - Takuya Kimura. It seems the problem has been sorted, thank God.

the motion blur argument always confused me . motion blur objectively make the game look worst if you move . it like one of those AI 60 fps videos on old animations . and the argument it make things "realistic" is weak . our brain do great job of hiding the blurriness when we move . so why would we ever want motion blur when our own brain and us hate it .

Motion blur might come close to realistic with a vr headset with very wide fov and high resolution, but on a pc screen I find it just looks wierd and artificial, nothing like the elegant way the human eye compensates, never played a game with motion blur turned on for 20 years.
