Judicial Meetings: A History, Perversion & More in Jehovah's 'Star Chambers'

When a baptized Jehovah's Witness sins, they're subjected to a 'star chamber' like meeting with a judicial committee, including three random men who decide if they're 'sorry enough' to stay in the congregation. Where did this come from? Is it found in the Bible? Why are these shepherds asking me THESE questions?? The Governing Body tells us this is both necessary and every sinner will 'always be treated kindly'... reality shows us something different...

So funny on my judicial committee I had three window cleaners by day and then spiritual psychologists in a kangaroo court case where I was not even allowed to bring Witnesses in my defence

You nailed it there brother. The only thing missing from the "judicial committee" is that they could wear bull horns on top of bearskin busbies and be clad in red robes. Hell if you are in the business of judging people and then shunning, you may as well look the part right??

You told elders your private dirty business. They told other elders. These elders may have told some parts to their wives. And those ladies have moving mouths. And the elders told the entire congregation without naming you but providing cues. And elders sent the information to Watchtower who has a permanent record. You ratted and humiliated yourself; all because 👴🏻 told you God orders you to. Yeah. Watchtower has that effect.

As someone who was raised Catholic I was straight out lied to when studying the require brochure. I was told that there was no confession arrangement. I said I was disturbed by confessing to a mere man and that you should confess to God. I had no idea of Judicials and what happens there until years later as I never had one. If I knew I would never have spent time in this disgusting organisation. Was horrified that people were interrogated about intimate details - it is voyeurism.

So true! It's absolutely a form of 'control'....there is ZERO purpose for the arrangement and it came into play under Knorr, much like disfellowshipping did

Topics like this need to be longer. My last judicial committee before I left this cult was dreadful. I had elders asking me the most perverse question and it was uncomfortable. Elders do tell their wife’s and it spreads like wildfire in the congregation. I had one elder who hated me and when I had to hand in my letter of reinstatement he said to me “you know how long it takes for people to be baptised? Well it applies to my situation”. During the time I was disfellowshipped he made it his mission to taunt me. JW’s reading this comment, do NOT go to the elders, they are there to destroy. They are not there to help. No matter how “nice” or “understanding” you think they are most of the elders are wolf in sheep’s clothing.

So stupid! "you know how long it takes for people to be baptised?" What maybe an hour? Phillip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch at the first creek they came to in a Chariot! Paul and Silas baptized their jailer and his entire household within hours of his hearing the good news. I hope you are wrong about "most of the elders are wolf in sheep’s clothing" but sadly they have yet to prove it. "With the judgement they judge, they will be judged!"

I've heard many stories of teenage girls called to judicial committees where they are grilled by three elders over impropriety. Those poor girls are purposely humiliated with questions of the most personal kind. Over matters that are no one else's business. You can't tell me some of those elders enjoy the power they hold and the hurt and embarrassment they cause. Shame on them. In retrospect, I would tell them all to, KMA!!!

I pretty much did tell them that. I said to them that their questions did not deserve answers because it was none of their business. I wasn't baptised. I had not gone to the kh in over a year and had no intention to return. It's a very long story, but I was put on public reproof. I didn't care. I wanted no part of it,...but that will show you just how bizzare their thinking is. Brainwashed or not, at this time information is so readily available that to choose to not inform yourself is being willfully ignorant and irresponsible.

Hi Stacey, this topic brought back some memories - not good ones. My younger sister (whose passing I’m observing this day in 2010) was having a rebellious stage at age 17-18 or so. She was unbaptised but that didn’t stop Brother ‘Finger’ from sitting her down at the back row seats and, finger out, ‘admonishing’ at the end of the meeting, of course making sure that the whole congregation saw this. Going forward by many years, I had stopped attending the meetings but still had a relationship with my parents (I was also unbaptised). My Dad was in his office and I went to greet him. He reached across and showed me a letter he had received from the Body of Elders (headed by Brother Finger). What I read was appalling. They told my Dad that, because of the fact that he had taken in his grandchildren, this would severely impact upon his duties as an Elder. Besides, they said, there were any amount of childless couples who would be glad to take them in instead. I said a few words then got in my car and drove away. By the time I had reached the corner of the road I had a bubbling of tremendous rage that overtook me. I thumped my steering wheel in my rage and had had to pull over and let this avalanche of rage pass me by. My Dad was a good Elder (several people told me this) and took his duties seriously, sadly to the detriment of his own children. Excuse me rabbiting on but the memories came flooding back. 😢

Those piece of 💩’s have no idea, or maybe they actually do, of how far reaching, how devastating & how many lives are be robbed from their narcissistic judgement!! I was the only one in my family to go in way back. Many in my “worldly” family actually disowned me for going in. Reverse idiocy! But they were good Catholics 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. Then when the cult cut me off, I was ditched there. Consequently, I mostly learned that all religions and all people in general are nothing but a$$holes. Yes, there are many good folks still out there, but keeping your circle small, but mighty helps keep them at bay. The more I hear these experiences, the more pissed I get for all of us that were, at some point, completely mk ultra’d. At least we’re free now, scarred, but freedom scars. Recently I wrote a letter of of disassociation and it ended up at my former congregation. I received a phone call from an elder 2 weeks ago that hadn’t spoke to in over a decade. He got got my number from my brother , an elder. He was desperate to get me to a meeting the next day! I asked why ? He said so they can try and help me to which I replied I could help him. He wasn’t impressed! I agreed to meet them but the next day decided against it . I wasn’t gonna give them the power or control. I text him to say it would be frustrating for everyone if we met and that I wouldn’t be attending but thanked him from the chat etc. He didn’t even reply!

I was fortunate that I never had to DF anyone and was only involved in reprovals. And I also never had to "serve" with other elders who enjoyed the judicial process (though I do know of some who loved that power). Our elder meetings were exactly as you described when the time came to form the committee. Everyone starts fidgeting and looking around hoping they won't get nominated. Others start coming out with the excuses that they are too close to the person to be involved, etc. We all hated it. It's amazing that with almost every ex-elder I've met and talked to, we all had the personal thought of "please don't tell me your sin. That's between you and god and I don't want to be involved with that." But of course, you can never voice that as an active elder or you'll then be under the spotlight. Prior to being appointed as an elder, I also had experience with the type of elders who would invite you to an "encouraging shepherding call", only to find out that you were actually about to be interrogated. They tried this to me one time and the other elder had no clue why they were there. He even apologized to me a few weeks later stating that he and the other elders disagreed with the meeting and some of them were angry when they found out about it. My old COBE came back from a judicial he had to assist with in a neighboring congregation. During the hearing, the other elders were so callous that as the sister was crying, they just kept right on going. He finally stopped the meeting, went to grab tissues, and offered them to her and waited until she calmed down a bit. Of course, that doesn't make it any better in any way, shape, or form, but it highlights just how cruel some elders can be in judicial hearings. These star chamber hearings are among the most evil things and yet they try to paint it as a loving arrangement. What a joke.

It is a joke alright. What every bible study "student" does not get told during their "studies" is that when you finally sign up and "dedicate yourself" thru baptism, you cannot leave "the truth" without serious ramifications which often culminates in shunning. Whereas if you stay "unbaptized" you are free to come and go as you please and if you "sin" they will still talk to you regardless. No shunning of any significance occurs. However the moment you get baptised and sign up, its a one way contract. I reckon if the "bible studies" knew this early on, many would seriously think twice before committing- unaware of the strings that are attached to their necks.

Stacy I 100% agree with you on not going to confess your sins or asking for help from them My personal experience, when I was a teen I committed a " serious sin " I confessed and they said to have a judicial commitee, I was so ashamed and bullied by these men , asking me what position and what underwear I was wearing. Thank you for this topic and video! Great content. it brought back memories of my judicial committee. I mistakenly confessed to an elder who my family was close to. He decided to pass the information to the book study elder I was a part of. Well this Elder had a friend who was not an elder but a ministerial servant who would always put me in his car group and constantly flirted with me very openly. I had to divulge all the details of what I did in front of this ms who had an elder friend "coincidently" choose him to be part of the judicial committee. Funny enough the 3rd person on the committee was an elder whom I was close to his daughter, He discussed my judicial committee meeting with his daughter who came to me and said I needed to appeal being dfed because her dad told her I was treated unfairly and inappropriately during the meeting. Which shows how much gossip there is in the org.

I skipped a judgement, I mean, judicial meeting. I wasn't raised a jw, so I didn't think fellow members had any right to call me to account. Especially in my private relationships. My sin? I met my soul mate, who I was going to marry. A very nice guy, who was tolerant of my beliefs and who didn't try and stop me from going to meetings, or doing the door to door work. My relationship with this man, was no business of a group of people, who were just acquaintances. I definitely felt that I was more accountable to my family and they approved of my choice. They were very pleased actually. I was 39 at the time and at long last, I was going to settle down. You can imagine how they viewed Jehovah's Witnesses who were sticking their noses in. I'm sure more damage was done to their religion, and by the way they treated me. I can count around 30 people who were disgusted by them and would never want to listen to them at their front doors. They constantly tried to speak to me and even went around the back of my home, tapping on the windows and heavily pounding on my door. Eventually, my kind hearted finance came over and asked them to leave. To this day, I have no idea what happened after that. I just stopped going to their meetings. They really frightened me. I tell anyone who will listen, how I was treated by them. I'm sure I've been instrumental in turning a lot of people away. I wouldn't have done so, if I hadn't had that experience.

I was tricked in a judicial meeting. The elders went through all the steps. When one asked me to meet with three of them I called him out on it. Then the COBE lied and said it was not a judicial committee. But I showed and escaped judgement. I didn't even know what I was accused of until the end of the judicial meeting! Three hours without knowing what the sin was! I spent that time defending myself for what I imagined the offense was. 😮 I was flabbergasted when one of them finally spelled it out. I accepted it, apologized and walked out without any restrictions. Had the COBE not lied, I don't think I would have gotten out of it. That was my biggest playing card, that it supposedly wasn't a judicial committee. I was a JW for over 20 years and this guy thought I didn't know about the judicial process?

Another amazing video. As I have mentioned before my husband never told me anything that happened in elders meeting the whole 21 years I was an elders wife. I knew than and I have since learned even more that he was an exception. Most elders wives knew what happened. It was not that I had this burning desire to know things at all. There was more than enough gossip in car groups from other elders wives that in so many ways I was glad my husband was tight lipped. What did hurt is being an elder took so much of his time. We never had time together. He put the religion I mean cult before our marriage and that hurt than and still till this day it hurts. Our second year anniversary he had a surprise elder's meeting while I was stuck in the car until one in the morning. He came out very angry and said he was an elder first we never did anything for our anniversary that year. It still hurts even today. I do have a question. One day I got put in service with a fellow elders wife, her husband had been to MTS training not sure what they call it now. So they were assigned to our area and he was a substitute circuit overseer. Anyway it was a horrible day, the wife was overweight and large breasted. She liked to show her figure even though it would been good if she didn't. She spent the morning telling me how pencil thin she had been and how she used to wear sweaters that were too tight. She had been counseled for it, but she didn't listen for awhile. Till this day I don't have a clue why she told me all of that way too much information😮 Well anyway the day finally came to an end we meet back at the hall. We had the CO that week and she going out to eat with them. My husband another elder and the CO had a mini elders meeting by our car, so I am feeling stupid just standing off by myself. All of a sudden this elder's wife jumped out of the car she was in and started yelling my name saying she had to talk to me. She pulled me aside and said "my nipples were showing". I was mortified. My parents were dying another very long story but I going through a very deep depression and I had lost a ton of weight. My blouse was just hanging on me. I looked down at my breasts and there was nothing showing. She said well when the wind blew. She told me I needed to wear bandaids over my nipples and padded bars. It was so not a good time in my life for her to do this. She walked back to her car with a smug face. My husband the CO and other elder asked what was happening. I literally wanted to just disappear, I put a sweater on even though it was really hot by everyone looked at me strange as to why I was doing that. Iwent home and was so wiped out I couldn't move. I did confront this sister a couple of years later when they were reassigned back to our hall to never do that again to me. I am not quick on my feet when someone does that to me. My brain just shuts down, I get like a deer in the head lights. So this sister tells me that her husband had told her to talk to me and that's why she did it. Apparently at an elders meeting the subject of my nipples showing had come up and her husband had been assigned to speak to me about it and he felt very uncomfortable so he had asked her to do it for him. My husband swears that never happened, that in any elders meeting he has been in nothing like that was ever talked about. But then he never told me anything. I have always wore very loose-fitting clothes. I am extremely self conscious about drawing attention to myself and I was and still am just mortified the elders could be talking like this. I was wondering if this ever happened with you in elders meetings. It has really bothered me since it happened, I know especially since my time at Bethel that brothers do check sisters out. To think the elders are doing it is beyond creepy.

I am so sorry again to add to this yet again but I never mentioned how my husband lost being an elder. I found out we had pedophiles in our hall, in our service group and I went to the CO and told him I would NEVER! take them out in service. I didn't care if my husband was an elder, there was no way I would EVER go to someone's door with a child rapist. The CO was furious. He told me and to quote " I needed to get my head on straight. That I would be taking them in my car in service period." The CO was also very upset that I even knew and told me in no uncertain words that no one im the hall was supposed to know of their past. That was one of the darkest days of my life. In very short time the CoBE called my husband and said just him and another elder wanted to meet with my husband to encourage him. I told my husband the CoBE was lying and that the whole body would be there. My husband wouldn't believe me that the CoBE would lie. I just knew because of how the CO had spoken to me and I was making a stand with the other elders. I had told a foster mom as I had thought she knew. I up until that point honestly thought that the elders at the very last told parents who the child rapist were. They didn't. The foster mom reported me to another elder who got me alone even though my husband was an elder at this time and told me to quote "I was nothing but a pure gossip, that the pedophile I had spoken to her about did not rape the 8 year old girl that he served 8 years in prison for but he took the rap so his son wouldn't have to go to prison. No man would ever lie to a body of elders. I started to just sob in front of this elder. Who then threatened me with being disfelloewshipped. If I didn't keep my mouth shut. So when the CoBe called I just knew. Well I was right, he walked in the whole body of elders were they they kept him there for over 6 hours even though he was recovering from a major heart attack, and deleted him as he told me at the time because I wasn't in subjection enough. He was 32 years as an elder. I was 21 hellish years as an elders wife and I wasn't in subjection because I wouldn't embrace pedophiles, men who raped children. It still makes me sick to think of those days and the extreme pain it was 😢

I'm so sorry for what you've been through. I was divorced as a JW myself and I can tell you being consumed as an elder was a factor, although my ex wife dealt with serious mental health issues. Knocked this one out the park, and as a former Elder, it touched a nerve to be apart of this Kangaroo Court system, especially the part stating of us not praying over the “disfellowshipped” one. I kinda blocked that out my brain, but man it was a somber reminder. Also my brotha, u forgot one part of the process: The investigation. Yes folks, when a person either confess they need to talk to the Elders or they r snitched upon by a “concerned” Publisher, there’s an Elder’s meeting to select two brothers to investigate the matter. Those two brothers then report their findings back to the Body of Elders. It’s then determined if a Judicial Committee is needed based upon the intel, & if so, 3 brothers r selected. Now here’s the kick in the nuts, folks: Those 2 brothers who investigated r “normally” apart of the 3, BUT in some circumstances, a whole new crew are selected (normally due to either there’s a conflict of interest involved like being too close to the individual or one of the Elders don’t have the freedom of speech in that area of sinning lol). The sick part of this means the “wrong doer” is now subjected to giving intimate details all over again to a new group of men. So that anxiety is placed upon them all over again.

The problem with many people when they become part of the JW Ministry of Truth, is they are required to stop thinking for themselves. They rely or a told to rely entirely on "the society" to run every aspect of their lives. This often means that your social network becomes entirely made up of JW adherents- as friendships with "non-believers" -that is, work colleagues, neighbours etc is highly discouraged except in the context where you preach to them. JW children (and parents) are highly discouraged almost forbidden to take up activities outside the immediate control of "the society" such as sports, clubs, music etc. These are all viewed as "distractions" that promote worldly thinking and tools of satan to draw you away from "the truth". In my now somewhat faded 35 yr career as a Jw i kept my "non witness" social network alive and well and i could not be bothered at all to "reach out" to become a MS or Elder. I did the minimum of preaching work which was mostly the magazine rounds and paid no attention to the fool practice of shunning- if i met a DFed JW out in the community, i was happy to talk to them though the irony was that they often felt awkward talking to me as they knew "the rules". My conclusion after 35 yrs ( though i will still go to conventions and such due to other family members) is that it is a mass brain wash and mass control over people and the main tool for this so called "unity" is the threat and consequences of shunning.

It's why I believe JWs to be a cult. You described it well. I too never stopped talking to DF'd people....but that discomfort they have because they know YOU'RE breaking the rules by speaking to them is really something to behold. Just wrong....on so many levels. We cover much of what you described in past episodes as well!

I can concur… i was called Jezebel by the judicial committee- I didn’t even commit a sin, but my ex was partying with one of the elders who was on my judicial committee. My ex was screwing my girlfriend- yes - she was a great JW ! WAS is the right word. Let’s just say i knew my husband and her were cheating on me. But they lied and said i was cheating. I got in trouble due to their lies- b/c I decided to date after 3 years of their cheating ! Proof positive- Karma is a B.. I had to raise 3 boys by myself…. B/c he married her… but she passed shortly afterwards AND yes. They do say they can’t pray for you - AND they say your prayers are not heard by God any further until you’re reinstated.

Just when I think you have done your best work and then you come out with this! It hits very close to home as a young person that I am very close to was just disfellowshipped. This person was actually texting me while waiting for the "verdict." I love your point that if Jehovah and Jesus already know what they did and their heart condition then why do they have to share the embarrassing details with three unqualified men? It's also so disgusting that the elders that enjoy their power trip are the ones that actually want to be on the committees. I've known so many of these elders that get off on destroying other people's lives. You are an excellent example of the good ones that leave. It's all so toxic and destructive. Thanks for this excellent deep dive. You might consider doing a piece on the elders that decide whether somebody that was assaulted was a willing participant or not. And yet somehow this was presented to us as right.

Just listened to this star episode. My daughter, who was 19 at the time, and never baptized, just an approved associate, was hauled into a judicial meeting. She wasn’t even a member of the congregation at the time as she was going to university in another city. She was dating a worldly guy and was seen at his house in the city she had moved away from. One elder, and I use the term loosely, kept calling her and wanted to meet with her. My daughter and I talked about it and decided not to agree to a meeting but he wouldn’t leave her alone. I wasn’t living there anymore as well. So I called him and asked him what he wanted and was told it wasn’t any of my business. So I said if you won’t tell me there will be no meeting unless I was there. He refused and I said no meeting then. He called me back and agreed to let me be there and a time was set up. We both travelled back to this city and the meeting commenced. After 45 minutes of interrogation and no admittance of wrongdoing on her part I called an end to the meeting. Before I left I told these idiots that this was nothing but a witch hunt and walked out. The purpose was to use her as an example to other young people in the congregation so they stayed in line. They announced at the next meeting that she was no longer an approved associate. That was the beginning of my departure. I have some very choice words for them but I won’t put it in print. Excellent episode.

My sin was because I told a friend I was examining my religion, he called my local elder, the other witness called them because I told her to listen to Jesus and that in obedience to his words she should also be partaking. Because of these 2 witnesses a judicial meeting was formed. During one judicial meeting an elder told me the heavenly door was closed in 1935 and that the Bible was not written for me but only for 144,000 and that I was not one of them. Sad, but they don’t even know who the heavenly door is. Jesus said,”I am the door the you must enter to be saved.” ( John 10:9 ) The lethal question they ask is,”Do you believe the governing body is dispensing spiritual food at this time? “ if you answer no, you will get disfellowshipped. Where is the love, where is God’s spirit? It’s not there because they don’t know the Father or his son , they don’t know Jesus’ teachings. John 12:48-50

The fact of the matter is the WTBTS is fully aware of what goes on in judicial committee meetings. After all, it wrote the guidebook that is used to conduct them. It is also aware of the fact that these meetings have not only caused those who are prosecuted in them to despair, but they have also driven some to murder and suicide, leaving behind ruined lives. I told my judicial committee that the WTBTS' own statistics showed that only one-third of those who were disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves ever returned to active status again. Such a failure rate is clearly catastrophic. That being the case, why do they keep judicial committees in place? It can't be for the "love for the brothers." Clearly they want to CONTROL, not love, their followers, and the "Star Chambers" are a most effective way of doing so. They will only be abolished when the WTBTS itself collapses.

In the world of Polish ex-JW, we have a term for the judicial committee that translates as "three sad ties", is it also called that in English? 🤣 What still amuses me is that JWs pride themselves on not having confession like Catholics, and I really don't see any difference. The witness version is even worse. TW: sexual abuse The worst thing is when someone is a victim of sexual abuse and is asked whether he or she encouraged this act. Victim blaming is probably a topic for a whole separate episode. Unfortunately, I feel that JW approach influenced my thinking when I was a victim of r**e myself (not in the org).

Some changes you may not be aware of since 2014. Elder's and Ministerial Servant are now having carry and concealed handgun permits at local meetings and in the ministry. They prefer the 9mm semi auto Clock or equivilant because of 15 round clips. 🤔 especially the MS patrolling the parking lot during meetings is carrying in the US Congregations. I got myself in a bit of trouble when I was doing return visits in Oregon Elder and his Wife in ministry on a Saturday and they had a concealed weapon in the car inside in his book bag! I was not happy, but hey Jesus now approves of gun violence as long as it's an Elder or Ministerial Servant! I was told they have a right to protect themselves! I was even asked if I wanted to join them at a local indoor gun range in Tacoma Washington where an Elder and several MS were practicing shooting on one of their Congregational outings for extra curricular sporting events on Saturday after field ministry!!! 🤔 I said whatttt. 😮 then the Congregation in Hillsboro Oregon with the pioneer couple, Elder and his Wife doing return visits in 2019! So obviously where 3 or more are gathered together Jesus is also there practicing shooting spiritual arrows, while they practice shooting worldly "apostate" people in the heart to kill them for interrupting a meeting at the Kingdom Hall! Oh but it's legal according to the Beast!

Wow! That’s quite something. That seems typical of a worldly cultural thing being adopted by these guys. This is what I found most jarring with JWs…they ARE so worldly. They are 100% products of their environment. I’ve had JWs talk at length about “spicing” up their cars to maximize acceleration. Of getting drunk. Of earning really good money. Of being pleased the housing market was making them richer on paper. All in the open, so they never considered what they were talking about was so “worldly”. I don’t see anything wrong with those topics per se outside of the context of JW land, but in the context of them being in the world but not of the world? It renders their identity as … meaningless. I kinda respect the IDEA of the Amish for example. Now I know there are some rumors they adopt modern tech on the sly, but the IDEA of living out the "not of the world" part makes sense. I'm not suggesting JWs swap their cars for horses and carts, but in my experience, they adopt the trappings of the world very easily and without a second thought (it would seem). So...they have two personas: the pious KH persona that is straight-laced and spiritually “correct”. Then when it’s time to drop the act, you see more of that person underneath. They’re just people in suits and dresses that follow arbitrary man made protocols and go through the motions of what they believe a JW is. That’s it. So why not guns? Why not turning your car into a hot rod? Why not getting trashed on booze? It’s all just part of the meaningless nonsense of following arbitrary rules. Why not want air-con in the New System? We are a product of our environment I guess. It just makes it all so meaningless to me.

At 52: 30 minutes or so, what you said there is truth. It was based in the Christian arrangement by Jesus himself at Matt. 18: 15-17. If 2 people couldn't resolve their tolerating of sins against each other, and wouldn't reconcile and forgive; then Jesus advised to take it to the "congregation"; not 3-4 elders in a private room, but at the city gates where all in the congregation could view the hearing as was customary. Then the scriptural texts so commonly used by JW elders to justify their power trip, is of course 1 Cor. 5: 9-13, and 2 John 7-11. Well I count only 7 reasons between those 2 texts for shunning close social association with these kind of people. Yet, my last copy of the elder's manual "Beat the Flock", I mean "Shepherd the Flock" book😂 lists almost 40 reasons; and they likely have added more since then!! Friggin' Pharisees aren't they? In my case, they made the decision to shun me by blasphemously claiming I joined a political activist group when I never did! So what happened in my case and so many others I'm sure is they violated the clear cut admonition of the inspired Apostles writings in the following scriptures: Rather than give a long winded dissertation here, I would just encourage you and your readers to use these texts in defending your own case; and politely "shove" these scriptures up your ex-judicial committee's butt if you ever see them again! 1. Romans 14: 1-3......" Do not pass judgement by differing opinions"......... 2. Romas 14: 10 3. Luke 6: 32-37,....."Stop judging,.....stop condemning"....obviously judging things that Jesus or his father did not specifically condemn. 4. 1 Cor. 4: 5, 6,...."Do not judge anything before the due time,.....Do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually one against the other." (Elevating their own opinion over the one of the publisher they are judging.) 5. Titus 1: 9........"Hold firmly to the faithful word of God"...not the human opinions expressed in your elder manual!! 6. Prov. 30: 6....." Add nothing to his words, (God's), that He may not reprove you." 7. 1 Tim. 5: 21.....keep doing things without prejudgement, prejudice, or according to your own biased leaning." 8. 1 Peter 5: 3-5,.....do not Lord it over the flock, 9. Matt. 9: 12, 13...."I want mercy, and not sacrifice". In other words, all the so called "shepherding and teaching " you elders do in the congregation doesn't amount to squat if you don't practice your judgements with mercy; as our Lord and King does. Sorry about the long comment; I try to keep it concise but I'm like you and your audience; I get incensed when I think about the hypocrisy and self-righteousness of the governing body and their henchmen; congregation elders!
