I'd be interested in seeing more. The tachi waza is more interesting to me. I'd like to see a full video of that.

Yes please it's super helpful for other people (and a beginner like me) to follow your thought process! This is great. I have just taken 6 classes so far and I think I'm using force a bit too much since where I'm going is kind of a small dojo and it's mostly teenagers (and I'm a bit of a brute who am I kidding). I think I'm doing better in ground combat than standing combat though; once it's time to stand up I'm completely lost haha. Would you consider doing a video on standing combat, the importance and application of different grips, how to unbalance oponents, maybe even placement and techniques against different sizes/weights? Just some ideas. Thanks again for the video!

You must take the person off his feet. I use to grab the ge and go low and come up lifting the person off his feet then place your fist and gee right where the heart is and slam the person to the mat hard which jives you a heart punch and nockout.

Would you consider doing a randori session with pre 2010 ruleset which allows gripping below the belt. I would love to see how a Judoka would defend against a lower body attack with upright posture.

I believe Nakano sensei did not mean disrespect, but one thing needs to be pointed out: at 00:43 he said “it was over my head, I couldn’t see anything”. I can confirm that this is a highly frustrating and unpleasant experience for the uke because it feels like a hockey fight or street fight where you are blinded by an attacker pulling your clothes over your head. The last person I saw who liked doing that in randori also made a lower belt student quit judo. Please, if you can, avoid this type of technique in regular practice, especially against beginners. Other than that, good video, and I’d appreciate more randori clips, thank you.
@scarred10
@scarred10 Год назад
Complete nonsense if that's unpleasant enough to quit your sport, you arent suited to a contact sport,maybe ballroom dancing would be better.
@anon5704
@anon5704 Год назад
@@scarred10 I didn’t mean that this specific technique was what made the student quit, I meant the one in class who played like this also did other things that were unsportsmanlike (eg sneak attacking the uke early before they were ready). Competitors need to try their best to win, so I am not saying that aggressive play is bad for them, but some judo classes are designed for adults and children as a recreational activity. Many students are not competitors and have no interest in overly aggressive play. Another example was a heavyweight adult who liked to use sacrifice throws against smaller partners and children; technically it is a legal technique, but the senseis were not ok with this, because it’s unnecessarily rough and made the class unpleasant for others. Mutual prosperity and welfare means judokas have a responsibility to take care of each other.
