@@freyachantal4571 Speaking as someone that struggles with suicidal thoughts and urges, framing failed suicide attempts as "cries for attention", regardless of if it's to get help or not, completely misunderstands the purpose of self-harming acts. Anything I say about her motives is conjecture, but I find that someone suicidal can understand another much better than other people. It's very likely she intended to go through with it, but could not because of the fear of it ending, hurting, or similar unpleasant things. So, no, the person upset by the wording isn't being overdramatic or sensitive, it's being aware of the implications words have over an already broadly misunderstood group of people.

Patrick Coffey I hope I am too, because if she was taking up for them then that’s just dirty. But, I’ve actually been thinking about this quite a bit this past week since I commented before and I believe my mind has changed. If I’m not mistaken, the woman who said this was Judy’s family doctor’s wife. Which means, that woman’s husband was who got Judy addicted because he would’ve been the one to give Judy’s mother the pills? If that’s correct, then she was excusing it and that’s just wrong.

I personally blame the parents, they are the ones knocking on hells door begging that they let their babies in. Hollywood is not a place for children. They are not in the business of human rights, they are in the business of making money, it does not matter the age or gender, they will turn you inside out chew you up then spit you out once the juice is gone. It's heart breaking how they depict her to be the problem... always late to the set, fighting with the cast, strung on drugs , can't keep the weight off, always paranoid... I mean how dare she want to have a child she was such a selfish woman (sarcasm here, by the way).... they took everything from her, literally.... this is what Hollywood does, that is what they are known and famous for, and everyone going into it knows this all too well, the children may not but you can bet your bum the parents do know. 90% of Hollywood child stars life's end in tragedy.

This type of mindset is really difficult to understand for square people. It exists at every level of show business, though. Anywhere there’s *serious* competition, national attention and *serious* money to be made, people go to obscene lengths in order to deliver. Is it right? Of course not...it’s a horror show. But when you have 20,000 people in line to take your place and the world watching you, that’s a really tall order. Human beings weren’t built for such things. It’s a VERY recent phenomenon in the “history” of our species. That’s why you see such rampant drug addiction and insanity in the entertainment industry. I don’t think that woman is crazy per se...she’s just not a square. If you spend enough time around any sort of behavior, good, bad or evil, it just becomes a part of your world.

From the very begining, her life was hanging by a thread. She was a potential victim of an abortion, parental expection suffocated her, showbiz drained her in more ways than one, repetetive cycle of drug abuse, probation, recovery, drug abuse, probation, and so on. When she pushed at the the world, the world pushed back more, but she kept pushing until she couldn't push anymore. All is left is a legacy that she seemed to see as more of a chore and less as a pleasurable accomplishment.

Let's not say "victim of abortion". Abortion is just the best option for people sometimes and clearly it was what her parents needed. They only failed because abortion wasn't legally performed by doctors at that time, and this is why abortion needs to stay legal.

Nicolette James Are you serious? Goodness sake! The girl still lived and grew to be a fucking Star for crying out loud. Millions of people loved her. Her parents failed BECAUSE PPL WHO ARE NOT READY FOR A CHILD SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. You don’t just throw away your mistakes if that’s how you could ever look at a baby as that. Imagine growing up knowing before you could even breathe that your parents didn’t want you. And that having those same parents leech of your success. The toxicity of that is outstanding and individuals like yourself are the reason why I strongly believe that some people shouldn’t procreate because wtf. Y’all are literally so toxic and dangerous. There are some beautiful talented persons that the world will never get to see or meet because of your “law”. They didn’t have a voice so they didn’t have a choice. Truly heartbreaking

This is so damn sad. However, I couldn't help but think about one other person who almost went through this. If you look closely, isn't this what happened to Britney Spears? A child superstar who was forced into the public eye. Slowly, she began to succumb to the public's demands, and the paparazzi latched onto her like parasites. Finally, following two failed marriages, a meth and alcohol addiction, and the constant assault by the press, she broke down and shaved her head off. It didn't help that her forced VMAs performance, a performance that she was not ready to do, only damaged her reputation and garnered her more criticism. She lost custody of her kids, lost control of her finances, and had to go the rehab multiple times. Honestly, its surprising that she made it through. Like Judy, Britney hoped that a relationship and children would help. It only barely helped Britney, but it wasn't enough for Garland. Rest in Peace, Ms. Garland. You have left an image in all of our hearts we all still miss you until this day. Even though I was born decades later after your departure from this world, you will ALWAYS be remembered as the Golden Woman in heart that you were. THANK YOU for sharing your voice with the world... and THANK YOU, honest, for sharing this video.

The sentence "noted on her beautiful voice and appearance DESPITE her pregnancy" gave me chills. It just implies *so much* about the times.

Shirley was set to play Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz but luckily she was tied up with previous obligations and contracts. So Judy ended up getting the role. Also Judy was older like around 16 playing a young girl. Temple was only around 10 at the time.
@mssuspiria
@mssuspiria 5 лет назад
@@SWLinPHX actually I heard the reason Shirley Temple didn't get the role because of a pretty dark reason... one of the heads at MGM pulled her into his office when she was 12 years old, exposed himself to her, and she was so confused that she just started laughing at it. After that they cut ties with her and the role ended up going to Judy Garland.

Madi Becca who probably went through something way worse in that office. Shirley got lucky

Thank you for this documentary. The Wizard of Oz will always be a classic and Judy Garland will always be an icon. Everyone is raving about Lady Gaga's performance now in A Star is Born, but I think Garland's version will always be my personal favourite.
