I've been introduced to this model at University. Reflecting my own experiences in primary school, I have had lessons where the material progressed beyond my achievable challenge level. As a result of this, I behaved in an out of character manner by disrupting other students and yelling inappropriately at my teacher. Understanding what led to my inappropriate behaviour through reasons showed in this model. I feel implementing this in my classroom will be beneficial for my students and my pedagogical practice. I cannot wait to use this model on placement. Thank you.
I'm a faith-based curriculum author and teacher. I think these principles are equally important in church settings for elementary students. Churches seem to check all of the pedagogy rules at the door and focus on crowd-control. They end up just "getting through it" rather than "getting it through." Elementary students suffer from boredom and therefore, they are not learning/retaining at optimum levels. I think I can take these principles and incorporate it into my curriculum.
I completely understand this. I wonder what is the responsibility of the teacher and what is the responsibility of the student. In an adult, this is similar to idea of "edutainment". Teachers should lecture in a monotone fashion and make it interactive. However, students must learn to be curious and responsible for information without a dog an pony show (I'm using a hyperbole with this type of show of course).

She says a part of the brain that is an emotional filter determines where information goes in the brain. Willis says just making subtle, easy changes can get kids back in the state of voluntary behavior. The best training for the twenty-first century is to give kids opportunities to give their mind the best training. The executive functions: judgment, critical analysis, planning, risk assessment, evaluation, problem solving, are key to learning. The biggest fear students have, the number one fear: making a mistake in front of others. Parents, teachers have a lot of concerns about how much time children spend playing video games. How does a video game turn into a classroom model? The brain enters at its achievable challenge level. The best part of it is you put in the effort, they see their score going up.
Video game and effort.... I am not sure about that. Many kids when they can't get to the next level will find the information to cheat to the next level. So,like in the classroom. Magical thinking gets everywhere. It is easier in some way and faster.
