ESA’s Juice mission has entered its final phase of development, with the spacecraft moving to an ‪@airbusds‬ facility in Toulouse, France, for the next round of testing. The spacecraft has been fully integrated, and these tests will be done in full flight configuration, as Juice is scheduled for launch from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, in April 2023.
The Juice mission is a perfect example of collaboration between several national space agencies and European industry. Its objective is to explore the gas giant Jupiter, its environment, and three of its moons: Europa, Callisto and Ganymede. By studying this planetary system, ESA hopes to learn more about the icy worlds around Jupiter and the origins and possibility of life in our Universe

Well done ESA! Years ago your lander had successfully reached a moon in the outer solar system (Huygens lander)! So cool! Now I hope for the best for JUICE!

I'm most intrigued by how Europa's surface is going to be like upon detailed observation.

That is a juicy announcement. The probe has 11 instruments that will give us a totally new insight about Jupiter and the icy moons. This is a showcase what ESA can do, if its members are determined to do it. This is a very exceptional mission and I guess we will learn a lot of new and exciting new details. However it will take around ten years until the probe arrives at Jupiter.

@@sourabhkarmakar8040 Afik it is 11 experiments, one is a radio experiment that uses the antennas and the communication system, but has no extra hardware.

@@sourabhkarmakar8040 I have looked it up. It takes several gravity assist maneuvers to get to Jupiter. It will take until 2031 to get into jupiter orbit and until 2034 to arrive at Ganymede.

Why will it take 8.5 years to reach Jupiters moons? Couldn't Nasa build a big booster drastically increasing the probe's speed? Is it a shortness of funding? I'm so curious...
@EuropeanSpaceAgency
@EuropeanSpaceAgency Год назад
Hi Filippo, thanks for watching! The issue is not getting to Jupiter, it's about getting into the orbit which take longer.

@@EuropeanSpaceAgency oh i see! Also sorry for mixing up Nasa with ESA! 😅 so sad to hear there's no real solution to how long it will take! 8.5 years 🥲 will be quite the long countdown:)
