to clear up some stuff about zone 5, toza received small nerfs only after confirmation (only around 3 or 4 jumps that i thought were a bit dumb) that i requested myself; the tower was already considered remorseless (unlike towu) during polls and i wanted to polish before release. towu was considered insane due to a realization after nate and zaiko’s reviews that the tower’s length and punishment were too far considering how difficult its raw gameplay still was. note that nate and zaiko likely only played the tower with noclip, which really fails to grasp a true sense of difficulty. finally, toq was also made by a curator (at the time) and toza was probably really only picked to combat the length and complexity of tobabt, as toq is also both quite long and punishing.
Thank you for sharing the other side of the story! I thought that the nerfs were only done after ToZA was confirmed so I didn’t want to say that and be drastically wrong, I should have probably have said “possibly” or something to that myself. I also considered ToWU potentially being out shadowed in difficulty due to noclip, but I actually dismissed it as the results from review were not close to insane. Mistake in my end, thanks for the confirmation.
how to make all "peak rems" (insane imo) back to peak rem cows - tp net on 19 outside to the start of 18 toeh - 8 outside tp to the start of the net topp - nerf some jumps on 10 cop - slow the lava by 5 minutes (15 -> 20) by the time you reach 13 totv - nerf all massive spike jumps coq - truss to skip 5-7 when you reach f9
the gd comparisons were a great addition, as the structures of each game are quite similar and the peak rem/insane and the insane/extreme dmon problems in both games are extremely similar.
i beat cows and toif, and i think that cows is harder than toif, but not harder than toca. typically, i rate things by playtime, agony, and overall difficulty. personally, i think that length is a big factor in difficulty, so i consider length in difficulty. another thing that makes cows hard is the excessive amount of outsides, and painful unforgiving outside
Honestly, tower which's difficulty is peak of any difficulty will be a difficulty changing mess. They all have a good chance of going to a higher difficulty (Remember ToAM?); same with baselines, which go to a lower difficulty instead (Remember ToNP?). There are plenty of examples of towers that were baseline/peak of a certain difficulty that got their difficulty changed to a lower/higher difficulty - MaT, NEaT, ToS, ToFaF, and etc.

fun fact: if you look at cows on the difficulty chart, about .1 of its placement (its green/red bar that connects to its sign) is actually shown as insane. From what I know this is the only time a tower/citadel has had their diffculty on the chart appear as on 2 difficulties, hence explaining the gradient portal.
notes from april: -toeh is now insane, giving ring 7 a tertiary sc -toso is a bottom extreme -toei is bottom terri -toso has a portal room on the outside of the lobby
1. You could've just made a game with a poll system but to enter it you need to have the badge for beating the tower to vote. Im pretty sure you can make it easily and wont take that much time 2. CoWS is really hard because of lenght and yeah its peak rem but it cant be harder than any insane tower just because simply, it isnt insane

ToZ is mid-high remorseless tbh, and ToEH is low insane, and for citadels I think CoWS is low insane too, and the funny thing is ToZ is harder than ToZA on the difficulty chart
Areas without an Insane (so far): Ring 4 (Closest tower to Insane: Tower of Corrupted Nightmares, however unlikely) Ring 6 (Closest tower to Insane: Tower of Niflheim, highly unlikely since it's really far from it) Ring 8 (Closest towers to Insane: Tower of Mean Tasks, Tower of Verdant Entropy, This time I could see ToMT being moved up to insane due to the raw difficulty of the last floors.) Zone 3 (Closest tower to insane is ToHH, not moving down anytime soon) Zone 6 (Same deal except with ToTDA, and also because the rems aren't very close to insane.) Zone 7 (Same deal with Zone 6 because ToUI is pretty forgiving and CoACT cannot become SC due to rules, and ToFM is like High Extreme so I doubt it'll be moved down to insane.)
i think the reason citadels arent sc because,the tower rush makes you do every tower and the citadel EXCEPT the sc's,so if the citadel were an sc you wouldnt have to do the citadel

i dont think they should be hidden but a win room and global win message would def be nice, alongside maybe making the win message purple to signify the inbetween of rem and insane
its not worth just wasting your time going around nerfing things and moving stuff around imo. its just that it could or not ruin the tower as a whole if too much is nerfed. and i personally believe difficulty polls should NOT come back as the community will go and start voting difficulties different from the original submissions difficulty
Let's be honest, who cares. Difficulties are meant to averages, so should be dealt with much scrutiny. However, when a difficulty is treated different from a other difficulty, I find it dumb and unnecessary. Honestly, who needs prefix like high, low, mid etc. They add to the pile of things that the staff has to do. These prefixes are the community's job, but this community and its staff are very close that they're one in the same. Giving SCs certain specialties is also dumb just make any tower have a winroom does it really matter? Also, I think rem tower wins should be displayed in every server of that area, so people can feel kinda happy. Length is also a large issue, I think there should a be rule to limit how long or short a tower is maybe 10 - 30 minutes (if done perfectly, no skips).

Solution: stop setting stupid rules that obviously will screw your up in the future a lesson the jtoh staff should learn seriously. Ok but seriously I feel as if the SC difficulties are treated as god-like difficulties when they’re really not anymore and that crown has been handed to catastrophic so I think they should just move things to whatever and just ask the community to make portal rooms maybe have a content like the ToFN winroom.
I think they should do difficulty polls and difficulty spike polls thing and nerf those spikes Maybe the towers that the community does not like the most get more nerfs🤔
Fun Fact: ToDT is the only, AND I MEAN ONLY soul crushing that can be beaten with boosts, except bootleg coil, meaning if you got da heavenly coil and suck at the game, you get a free soul crushing.
i don't really agree with the sub difficulty idea. referring to your "start and end" con, while it does solve the problem somewhat, what will its peak be? what if it creates a ruckus just like peak remorseless?
A lot of the towers there are going to be harder than some insane towers, what would the bottom of this difficulty be, since most towers there would be in the peak of that difficulty, and also should it be considered a sc difficulty? My proposal for this situation is to: A: make the peak rems that are considered insane to be insane difficulty B: nerf the peak rem to be easier than insane
Wait a sec, to not make peak remorseless controversial should we just make ToCN, ToZ, ToTV and ToZA have custom portal rooms and win rooms, Global win messages, warnings identical to SC towers, awards upon winning one of them and not have be used to unlock new areas
