Julia is a hugely talented comic actor, and that takes a lot of time and effort. And she was able to commit that time and effort because she was never gonna starve or become homeless. She didn't need fit art around a job. Her father is literally a billionaire. For a lot of people, a career in the arts is a huge gamble. But wasn't a gamble for her because her dad would always cover her losses. She IS hugely talented. Many rich kids aren't. But many poor kids ARE hugely talented, or they could be like her if they didn't have to work full time to survive/provide for their families.
Meh. If that's the case, why didn't dad get her a job at his company. It was still a gamble. If she failed at arts, she would have had to do something else. We don't know, based on this video -- maybe you've heard otherwise -- whether her dad had such an arrangement with her. Bill Gates hasn't given a cent to his kids, and has said he won't leave them any money (Gates is leaving all his money to charity when he passes on). They all make a lot of money on their own. Lots of people start off poor and hit it big, too. Representative Ocasio-Cortez's last job was bartender. Steve Wozniak grew up in a middle class household in San Jose, like myself. He hit it big with Apple and he's a billionaire now. Mark Zuckerberg was born to two doctors. Again, middle class background. Now he's a billionaire. Dr. Franklin Chang-Díaz, former NASA astronaut, is the son of an oil field worker. He now runs Ad Astra Rocket Company, which develops the VASIMR plasma rocket.
Ah, reading other comments it seems that yours is misleading. Yes, her father was a billionaire. But she didn't grow up with him. She grew up with her mother's middle class family.
I can't stand how she tries to portray herself as a person with a typical childhood or start in the business. It would have been a more interesting interview exploring how she benefited from her family's wealth.
She's done loads of interviews talking about how she grew up with her middle-class mother's side of the family, and how visiting her wealthy father and sisters felt alienating because of how different their worlds were.
Well, look, wm6549, this is not Great Britain. We don't have social classes. Unless you have some evidence that her dad gave her a bunch of money. All I see is her succeeding on her own merits.
"How Julia Louis-Dreyfus Went From Ice Cream Scooper With Multi-Million Dollar Trust Fund and Billionaire Father to B-Lister" There, I fixed the title for you.
You're equating fact-checking with jealousy. The title is misleading, as this woman was never just an ice cream scooper. The title should be "How Julia Louis-Dreyfus Went From Ice Cream Scooper With Multi-Million Dollar Trust Fund and Billionaire Father to A-Lister"...
Step 1: Be born into an immensely wealthy family that has literally BILLIONS of dollars. Step 2: Pursue whatever you're passionate about because there's no risk of failure when you have a trust fund to fall back on. Step 3: Wait for success to fall into your lap, as it always does when you are rich and privileged.
Her family are billionaires... she had a lot given to her. Complaining about her 1st 8hr shift is very telling. Interesting she doesn't say how long she lasted at the ice cream parlor. To see that she thinks that this would be a story that other normal folks would find interesting is unfathomable
Another user above said that she didn't grow up with her dad's wealth; she grew up with mom's side, which was middle class. I take it you've made poor choices in life? So have I. And yes, I'm on the left. But I'm not bitter, like you.
a 14 year old child has a far lower body weight comparatively, and that makes scooping more physically demanding. Compare and contrast that Arnold Schwarzenegger's early job was brick laying.
Why are you guys acting as if she isn't attached to wealth, acting aside 😑. But I guest talent has a say. Look at Tori Spelling for example, wealth but career wins Nil 🤷♂️
I hate to see her in somewhat pretentious positions like this. This was ridiculous. Especially coming from the Elaine Character, where she was flawless. I think you find most ( not all ) actors become pretentious with fame
Ice cream scooper?! I thought this was a rags to riches story and then I thought…her father is a billionaire. Billions! Her kindergarten (Fieldston) cost more than most peoples homes. Take down this shamelessly desperate Steinfeld hashtag vomit.
