The Strokes were innovative. There were a few bands that came out of America that developed the same type of sound at that time. The Hives and a few others. It was a music boom. Very exciting.
There were quite a few of those type of bands. From all over the world though, Hives from Sweden, then there was that Australian band The Vines or something, and the White Stripes of course but it big the same time the Strokes did. And then The Killers also
