Julian Lloyd Webber plays Karl Jenkins' Benedictus from The Armed Man 

The first time I heard this work I was driving and it was played on the classical music station. I was so moved by it I pulled over and parked. As the work played out, I was driven to tears. I swear to God I heard a voice in my head saying “Just let go…”. It was a very peaceful cathartic moment. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of music and performance of it here.

We were at this concert, 1st time we ever heard this piece, absolutely overwhelming.

I chose this for my fathers funeral - achingly beautiful and gentle - also played "fly me to the moon"

I know this piece quite well and am listening today, on the 1st Anniversary of the evil Russian attack on Ukraine. The sacrifice made to combat evil, whether 1914 (WW I), 1939 (WW II) or now in Ukraine or other wars, must never be forgotten.

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. I think of my beloved father whenever I hear it. He passed away in 2021 at 99, sixth months shy of his 100th birthday.

I’m in my city’s civic chorale and we’re currently performing the entire piece the armed man. This is one of my favorites to perform and if you haven’t listen to the whole piece you should.

Am hearing several times with my opened eyes felling myself stand me up to the Paradise, still am listening in my small hall , from a green garden ! Thankfullllll

A perfect, heartfelt piece denoting much profound feeling - and a grave sadness over where humanity stands right now amidst so much illness, insecurity and a fear of the unknown. In just 2 years our world is no longer as we knew it....

Such a beautiful, beautiful stretch of tender composition. I’m wondering if it derives from, or honors the spirit of, L’Homme Arme, the legendary Medieval masterpiece by by Guillaume Michaud. At 5:17 I was struck by the suspicion that a peek back about 27 years ago might show a 3-yr-old timpanist driving his parents crazy. But life smiled at a mophead and they’re happy now.

I shared this at Christmas time for those who have lost a loved one. I can 't imagine anyone holding back the tears. My condolences. That is a great loss.

Heavenly music, from what I know about Heavens, but, paradoxically, it seems to me that the 2 Cellos have the best interpretation rather than Karl Jenkins himself.

We must not be too much in love with the moods, thoughts and sensations of our organic-biological machine to observe impartially, remembering that it provides these distractions and seductions only for its own smug satisfaction. Our work just begins when we can see exactly what it is that we must struggle against. But what is our enemy now can also be our greatest ally in the Work. One big part of work is to learn how to turn these involuntary enemies into friends for work. How can we struggle against our Chief Weakness when it is only active during periods of deep sleep of the machine and is therefore invisible to our observation? We can listen to the machine’s thoughts and words as if listening to a stranger speaking on a radio over a long distance. We may be very shocked to hear some of the ideas which spring from the mouth of the machine, but do not reflect our ideas at all. E.J. Gold
