Really does make you wonder what will happen when Northern Ireland becomes part of a unified Ireland. Can quite imagine the loyalist community taking up arms and this all unfolding again.
What a fascinating documentary, a snapshot in time. How sad that the situation would so deteriorate soon after this. The officers final sentence right at the end only makes this film all the more sad and poignant. As for the reprimanded squaddie sent home to England as swift punishment at 29:00 lucky him!! I wonder if he was to ever return for further tours as the years were to grind on for decades. Just sad. A monumental political failure.
It's likely that the loyalist were upset of the British decision to send in the army. They might have felt as though the RUC was doing a good job at controling the situation and didn't need the Army's assistence.
Like this report, 1000 round fired in a few days wow, the British troops should have de escalated their involvement in 1972, get the UN, the Irish people need to sort it out, set up a independent UN mediation program, send in the UN esp the US troop to do peace keeping.
@@TheScaryTruthCatalyst People in Donegal, Monaghan, Cavan are in Ulster. The majority of the people will decide. Unionists are entitled to their opinions. But votes will decide it. Ulster is already majority Nationalist. Only Antrim and Down aren't.
