It also teaches that there are many other things, simple things that can fulfill your life outside of money. To observe all of life, not just the big picture of the forest, and the trees, but also whats right in front of you, people and things that are truly important..
Oh !. I'm shocked with ur comment.. I'm from Chile. I'm 36. Even the distance of time and places .. we are united for this song.. and what it means whoever to listen
Robert, my mum and grandmother took me to see the film just before my 8th birthday and then I had the Mary Poppins doll for my birthday. I remember it so well. One of my life favourite films and this is my favourite part.
A beautiful song with a lovely sentiment--- be kind, be charitable. It was Walt Disney's favorite song from his films, and it's no surprise. I consider the 1964 movie Mary Poppins to be the studio at its zenith, putting every single thing they had learned into one sweet story. Glad to have found the scene here, complete and not cropped or distorted.
Here we see Jane Darwell, a famous actress who appeared in over 200 films in the part of the "bird woman". Favorite many times by the great John Ford, participant in great classics such as Gone with the Wind or The grapes of Wrath for which she won an Oscar. This small part represents the swan song of her career and it was Disney himself who insisted a lot on convincing her to participate in Mary Poppins at the age of 85. This is another pearl that embellishes this splendid film even more.

Walt Disney's favorite song. He would have the composers come to his office just to play that song. During his funeral, the song was played again, and during that, a bird landed nearby.
Walt Disney would sit in his office one of the best and favorite songs ever by the Sherman brothers and julie Andrew singing I try not to teary eyed and emotional I'm left speechless it make us appreciate after all these years later to the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may be gone but not forgotten still going strong keep on singing much love and respect and appreciation job well done you should be amazed and proud love you guys thanks !!! Joe
Can you believe the Academy gave the Oscar to that piece of fluff "Chim chim cher-ee" over this timeless classic? [also FYI, the "Bird Lady" was played by Academy Award winning actress Jane Darwell in her last acting performance. She was retired at the time and only took the role because Walt Disney personally visited her and asked her to take on the role]
I heard once one of the Sherman brothers (they wrote the music) say that in his old age, Walt Disney would ask them to play it for him. I think that "Feed" must be one of the _lowest_ notes Julie sings - in anything, anywhere. It _is_ a most beautiful piece. I think the Shermans wrote lovely music - they did Poppins, and also Chitty (which also has some beautiful pieces, as well as fun ones).
Just a real masterpiece of live music walt Disney would be proud and amazed one of his favorite songs ever by julie Andrew I'm left speechless after all these years later to the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may be gone but not forgotten still a classic to listen to appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock way to go !!❤❤😂😅 Joe

I remember singing this in a grade school chorus way more years ago than I care to count, and enjoyed it a great deal. Mrs Lohman, if you're still out there, thank you.

R.I.P. Richard Sherman, who cowrote this and so many other songs for DIsney movies. I think I read once that Walt Disney would sometimes request Richard Sherman to play the song specially for him.
And I am so glad that she agreed to portray the Bird Woman in this wonderful family classic. It was a small non speaking part but I don't think Jane Darwell even realized what a colossal worldwide phenomenon that Mary Poppins became. This is the same woman who won the Academy Award playing Ma Joad opposite Henry Fonda in the classic 1940 film directed by John Ford, The Grapes of Wrath.

'Though her words are simple, and few, LISTEN, listen...she's calling to you' beautiful and good advice for us all...listen more, and say only what you need to say and mean.
Walt Disney would be proud a favorite song to listen to the Sherman brothers did a great job keep up the good work really enjoyed and appreciate julie Andrew's singing job well done. Joe
Now days "pigeon feeding" is illegalised in many European public places like Munich and Frankfurt due to the dirt the birds create in cities. same counts for private homes if it is in the Rent conditions.
That "pigeon lady" actually was the last role for Jane Darwell...in other words, Ma' Joad in The Grapes of Wrath (1940 - John Ford) and so many other films of the great Hollywood past...
