@TheChoice264 What's neat about this fight too is that both fighters paced themselves and didn't throw bombs with every punch. There's a level of controlled aggression and intensity that's rare to see. A great, great fight here. And you're right, both guys were rock-solid as far as taking a punch. I don't know that I ever remember LaPorte being hurt in a fight. He was a for-real hard man. And obviously, JCC's chin was among the greatest ever.
No tiene sentido si comparamos a Chávez con Salvador Sánchez, Chávez una leyenda insuperable, Salvador peleaba bien pero se nos adelantó, por lo tanto es una estupidez compararlo con Chávez, si sal estuviera vivo y peleara con varios por lo menos 50 o 60 peleas haríamos comparacion entre ellos, pero yo digo que como Chávez, ninguno, 89 peleas, 0 derrotas 1 empate. Nadie lo ha superado hasta ahora no lo hará alguno en el futuro. El César del boxeo, el número 1 a nivel mundial!

@Kedbuka Agreed. I always preach and teach young fighters that in boxing you don't hit hard, you hit right. Real masters of the ring such as these two did not knock-out or wear down opponents by using strength or muscle by winging it or going toe-to-toe as most think. They used force. Force constitutes balance,leverage,speed, and power. It takes those 4 elements combined into one to create force. Add timing and you have a man who can throw dynamite all night with control,and without tiring.

Julio Chavez, Salvador Sanchez, Wilfredo Gomez, Eusebio Pedroza, Azumah Nelson, Rocky Lockridge, Barry McGuigan, the list goes on. He knocked Rocky Lockridge out. After watching the contest several times, I think LaPorte should have won the decision versus Sanchez. As seen here, too, he won the exchanges in this last round against Chavez. It appears he also should have won the decision versus Azumah, having rocked him with the heaviest landing blows in the last rounds.

@Kedbuka Yeah the leather being thrown around in this fight is just incredible. The reason we have been blessed to see two great boxers go 12 rounds at such an advanced level of fighting is for the fact they both had chins that are among the greatest ever. Most fighters wouldve gone down from many of these shots, or knocked out cold. But, because they both could take a punch and take punishment, they were able to throw amazing punches. No winging it. The kind of punches that ruin a man.
You got 1 thing right, Chavez new how to box he was a completed fighter. But your comparison of Chavez vs Taylor is ridiculous, Chavez damage Taylor's body, Laporte didn't do enough to win.
Parece ser que a Chávez no solo se le dificultaban los peleadores rápidos como Meldrick Taylor o Pernell Whitaker ( aunque cuando enfrentó a éste no estaba ya en su mejor momento) sino los boxeadores "encimosos" y resistentes como Laporte.

They knew how to use force, how to time and measure, how to get a man to do what you want him to do and put him where you want him to go,etc. they were real ring technicians and understood the art of boxing. The casual fan is lost to this when it comes to JC and LaPorte. Fans without boxing gnosis mistake JC as a brawler. It's too vague a term for a boxing genius and immortal.

I'm going to try and be as nice as possible.......ahem that you scored round 6 for Laporte shows hos unobjective you are. Your scoring would lead me to believe you scored the fight for Bradly over Pacquiao too! Sorry, but you lost any credibility you have by scoring 6 for Laporte. That round wasn't even close. I mean you're going to disregard 2:50 because of one itty bitty flurry???? That round was clearly controlled by the Champion, it's not even debatable.
LaPorte was hitting low and using his head like a fist early & often yet Chavez didn't say a word; but when Chavez strays a bit below the belt Juan complains demonstratively....fuckin' guy. This has to be one of LaPorte's best performances of his career. He was in great shape and totally went for it. JCC had to be tip-top to beat him, which he always was at this stage of his career. He won it fair & square. Great fight, both from a technical standpoint and for action.

Cundo no tuvo oportunidad de consolidarse por los hechos sucedidos habla de fanáticos que no ven con objetividad eso. En la madurez boxistica de J.C. If you pay attention Julio won this fight because he did land more blows at the end of the day. Juan couldn’t knock him down after hitting him so hard.
