I had the privilege of working with Baba Julius Araba as a bassist. He was quite old then but it was such an amazing journey!

It was a great privilege to know this wonderful Artiste in Ogunlana drive, Surulere Lagos where he and his family lived. May God continue to bless his family: Bose, Wemi, Tunde etc.

There so much similarity between Highlife and Son Cuban. They are both Yoruba language though. Beautiful.

Baba Arabs rest in perfect peace.This is one the 50s and early 60s songs that appeals to the consciousness of the people and had a lot of impacts on their values system as then.

To appreciate how good Araba was, one of his songs was played throughout NIGERIA's independence celebration exhibition on Victoria island in 1960 And how prophetic the song was! Rough translation of the song goes like: As God has blessed Nigeria with this Independence I am appealing to all Nigerians to make sure we make good use of it!

This is a veteran as far as JuJu music is concerned. Most modern JuJu musicians owe this man a lot !

Thank you so much for bringing the music of yesteryear to us. Pa Julius Araba. I remember watching his life performance on the BCOS (Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state) in the mid '80s with his nightingale singing wife.

Whaow! Whaow! Whaow! I never knew this song "Easy Motion Tourist" was originally sung by the veteran J.O Araba(of blessed memory). I have always thought KSA owns the piece. God bless history and storytellers.

Ibukun Sokeye Sunny and Obey borrowed from a number of old musicians especially Oladipupo Adekoya Ambrose Campbell, Araba, Tunde Nightingale, Adeolu and Bobby Benson. However both Sunny and Obey did copy with their own great interpretations. Those were also great.

@@olukayodenathan9132 great comment sir. Sunny ade went on to win his second Grammy nomination for his own interpretation of Easy motion in his album "odu" in 1999.

Fatai Rolling Dollars did NOT tap, he PLAYED the agidigbo in this particular track. He was a master of the game!
@Apoi38

The tap sound emanated from taping of a metal coin on the agidigbo. He was right for saying that. Rolling dollar played the agidigbo.
